Good question. I'm not totally sure. The WG is going to have a lot of crap on their plate after this, so increasing bounties may be the last thing on their mind. At the same time, in order to keep some semblance of order or normalcy, they may go ahead and boost them for the hell of it to keep up appearances. If not them, then I imagine the Marines may take it upon themselves to keep that going.

The amount will be hard to determine, but expect the usual suspects (Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Robin) to get the higher increases compared to their peers.
Was thinking the same. Increasing their bounties means the 5 elders acknowledge their loss against them but at the same time the SH are now the closest to the One Piece and the Truth about the Void Century and so they are the Elders' most heinous enemies.
They could do like they did for Enies Loby but this time the whole world knows the SH are in Egghead and what they're doing there.

Luffy should hit the 4B and be the first known Yonko with 4 Billion Bounty crewmates

I wish I could remember who, but someone predicted it could go to 4B first as you said, and then continue to follow along similar to post-timeskip bounties so 5B would be next (like after Dressrosa I think) and then break off from there and finish with his final bounty. That person said it would be something with 5s and 6s in it for the "gomu" thing, but I don't agree there (or at least not just that).

I'd guess while 4B would make sense esp. as an intermediate step (assuming Luffy & crew can safely escape with at least one VP satellite instead of being outright defeated like Law and Kid), and while there can be another 5B intermediate step maybe because of the war, there should be more specific wordplay to Luffy as a person rather than his fruit in his final bounty. It would take not just a native-levl Japanese speaker but someone with good understanding of Oda's style of wordplay to guess how that wordplay would go, but something along the lines of all the characters from the first ~1:30 of this video.

Just realised that Kid acquired a Poneglyph.
Only reason SHs have any interest in Poneglyphs at all is because of Robin, usually people have to go to Lodestar to get interest in them or realise they're important.
Even Kaido didn't become interested in Poneglyph until some years after taking over Wano, and that was only part related to Jack finding it.
I believe Kaido also only went to Lodestar Island maybe few years ago when Kaido went on a huge voyage when Ace infiltrated Wano.

So, how in the world did Kid even become interested in Poneglyph? Who did he meet that informed him about information that's so rare?

I think the theory that kid is a disjunct Vegapunk sattelite is actually quite solid.

This is still a Shonen, so Shonen rules will dictate the plot to some degree.

Luffy will be the strongest at the end, and it seems the characters Oda has assigned to come after him are Zoro, Sanji, Law, Kid and maybe Sabo or honestly Nami.

So another power up for all of these characters is to be expected, and power-ups typically come in form of transformations.

If the theory is correct, Kid would have his knowledge from fragments of Vegapunks brain, and could potentially unlock all of it to become smart and make high-tech robots with his DF.

I wonder, given how Yamato and Ace are Ice and Fire...and stuff. Will Blackbeard kill Yamato and claim Pluton??

Given how Blackbeard is most likely listening to this broadcast, he’ll prob view Caribou’s info as even more valuable, given what Vegapunk said at the end of Chapter 1115.

I def don’t think Yamato will die yet, not before getting to sail with Luffy like she still wants.

Considering the circumstances, I think that Yamato would inevitably get into trouble with Blackbeard enough to call Luffy back, to which then may lead into the 11 vs. 11 between the Straw Hats and Blackbeard Pirates.

I think the value of Poneglyphs to getting One Piece is known by too many people to keep it a genuinely deep secret. Kaido a drunk and Big Mom a forever child makes it hard for me to believe they'd never mention it around some of their own fodder. And once fodder know it's more believable that pirates serious about OP can find out through underground networks. We did see that Kid was watching Caesar's weapon show, and he also had a base of operations making me think he was capable of getting the info. It's probably also how he knows about the Man with the Burn Scars while Luffy & Law don't.

Law I think would have been equally capable of finding this stuff out but unlike Kid he spent the last 2 years focusing on Doflamingo. Kid is the only one of the 3 who spent the last two years going straight for One Piece. I don't think Kid or other pirate crews understand the true value of the Poneglyphs and the history they reveal though, so Luffy is for sure special by having Robin. To them its just a map to One Piece and they still need to figure out a way to read them.

There's a problem with this.

Roger became a Pirate at the age of 27 and it took him 10-11 years to get to Lodestar Island, he was the first Pirate to go there in the last 800 years.
It is at Lodestar Pirates learn about:
  • Poneglpyh and all things related.
  • Roger went to Laughtale 39 years ago, and then discovered that Lodestar Island wasn't the final Island and he had to acquire Poneglyphs and such to get there.
Luffy and the crew had no clue about Poneglyphs, Robin joining the crew was the only reason they had a head-start and knew about them so early through sheer luck.

It makes no sense to just know about Poneglyph, it's not common knowledge. Why this is especially weird is that Kid went to WCI and made Snack bring them the rubbing of the Road Poneglyph meaning he knows its importance. That's a very specific thing to go for.

Big Mom seemed to be the only know besides Shiki who was in the know, more so, they were sailing with Xebec who was hunting them, so that's understandable. Even Kaido didn't know of their importance up until few years ago, so how Kid knew about it is surprising.

There really are only few Pirates we've known that knew about Poneglyphs:
  1. Big Mom, Blackbeard, Roger Pirates, Crocodile, Tamago.
There aren't many people who have mentioned Poneglyph or known much about them in the series. Unless Kid went to Lodestar Island, then I am shocked.

It's probably just one of things he happened across while sailing. There are a number of Poneglyphs scattered across the world so it wouldn't be surprising if Kid happened across one during his travels, got curious about it, and did some research into it. We saw that he was connected to the underworld, so someone was likely willing to pay to provide info or he threatened the information out of them. Or maybe he found someone from Big Mom's crew who was as informed as Tamago and beat it out of them, which led to him eventually going after her directly and extorting the information from Snack.

I doubt Tamago was the only one who in her crew who was informed about the Poneglyphs. And he wasn't even anyone of particular note.

Or maybe Kid ran into Snack or Urouge and one of them volunteered the info in a "I don't mind telling you because you'll never leave here/defeat me/be able to use this info" kind of situation. 😄 (iirc Kid lost to Snack, but Urouge defeated Snack and lost to Cracker.) Urouge has a higher chance of having heard about poneglyphs early than most of his generation since he's from a sky island and those don't seem to be under the kind of scrutiny that the WG has on surface islands.

Poneglyphs are scattered all around the world, but let's not forget the WG have been looking for them for the past 800 years and failed to do so. It makes no sense that you can just happen to come across that information or a Poneglyph so casually when even the WG failed to do so. Only people really getting this knowledge are people with insider information like Oharan scholars, people related to Rocks or Roger or people who have been to Lodestare Island.

Lots of Pirates don't have a clue what significance they hold. There's only really a handful of Pirates that know their value.
Even the Poneglyphs that Robin has found came from people who trusted her in the first place such as the Skypieans, King Neptune/Tom's brother iirc, Minks who trusted the SHs... so it makes no sense to just randomly come across that knowledge and be like... yeah this is important.
Requires specific knowledge about something's value to know that something is important.

You don't go after Poneglyphs unless you understand their significance. A child could walk into a cave full of gold & diamond without a care in the world, unless they know that gold & diamonds have special value, they wouldn't care. You could put a Poneglyph right in front of someone's face, but unless they knew beforehand what significance it had, they wouldn't think much of it.

Being connected to the underworld doesn't make sense. Still requires knowing that Poneglyphs are important in the first place and then asking for it.

To know why Poneglyphs are important requires:
  • Visiting Lodestar Island first of all.
  • or You're a scholar like Robin and have a Oharan scholar in your crew.
  • or Roger/Rocks crew members informed you - even Kaido didn't know this until few years ago which suggests he went to Lodestar.

If Luffy had never met Robin, the only way he'd have learnt about Poneglyphs would be going to Lodestar, but as we learnt from Inu and Neko, they don't need to do that anymore since they have Robin.

So, how Kid knows information so specific is odd. Either he's been to Lodestar Island, or Oda has left out some information.

Now I think I’m better understanding Oda’s game plan here.

If he still intends to have Luffy vs. Blackbeard, then it might happen not too long after the Elbaf arc. Blackbeard is most likely listening to Vegapunk’s broadcast and may be especially keen on how the Government has an Ancient Weapon, necessitating him getting one of his own to stay in power.

So that’s where Caribou comes in to tell Blackbeard about Poseidon and Pluton. He also might tell him that Shirahoshi has trouble controlling her power, and so Blackbeard may end up going to Wano himself given how much power Momo and Yamato have. Oda could even shift the battle to the sea for the sake of variety.

This all presumably plays out while the Straw Hats are at Elbaf, and then Luffy by the end gets the news that Momo and Yamato are having trouble with Blackbeard, then leading into the anticipated Straw Hats vs. Blackbeard Pirates battle.

You guys think strawHats' Bounties will go up after this arc too?
If yes, how much will it increase for everyone?
When do we reach a point where we can say the bounties don't matter? How much is too much for the WG budget to pay off the bounty? Sometimes you are better off going for the smaller fish collect enough bounties and retire. Oda gone too far with the bounties, now it's just a score that is no longer practical to view as an actual bounty.

There's also a point where the level of power comes close to imu & gorosei and makes the bounty irrelevant as the one with the bounty is strong enough to fight WG, meaning that anyone able to take that faction down might as well fight WG themselves and take over the world.

The case I'm making is only for the modern era of the Golden Age of Piracy Roger kicked off. Roger had to start from scratch and make it to Rodestar and learn about the RP etc before making it to Laughtale. However, once he threw the gauntlet over the next 20 years more people learned about RP than any one had learned in the preceding 800 years. By the point Kid made it to the New World, multiple active pirate organizations already knew about the RP so the chances of him finding out info on RP without having to make it to Lodestar is higher.

I think this is how even Kaido & BM know about RP. At least in BMs case it's clear she doesn't have a means of reading them yet (waiting on Pudding to develop power), yet she knew to go after poneglpyhs to get to One Piece. Otherwise we're left with no way for anyone other than Robin & the SHs by proxy to know about Poneglyphs significance. No one we know of can read them post Ohara (Sukiyaki being the only other known living reader). The most likely way even Kaido & BM found out what to do is learning about Roger's journey in more detail and what he did to make it to Laughtale.

We know Xebec knew about the Poneglyphs, so it makes sense that both Shiki and Big Mom had interests in them.
We know Kaido didn't know about them until recently because he wanted to interrogate the scabbards only 20 years after Oden's death to find out what Oden told them about Laughtale meaning he didn't know about it until recently. Otherwise, he'd just have not killed the scabbards, or attempted to do so, but rather would have just tortured them for information.

Kaido was said to have gone on a huge voyage about 3-4 years ago which is when Ace came to Wano without anyone to oppose him besides Yamato. The voyage was big enough that the entire crew was out of Wano, so I think that's when Kaido went to Lodestar.

If Kaido only learned it recently, the only thing that makes sense to me is Kid went to Lodestar, otherwise it makes no sense to me. If it takes an Emperor almost 20 years to come across this information, I can only imagine Kid made a similar journey, otherwise Kid just happening to learn it is odd. It's something that requires real homework.

Hopefully Oda sheds light on this.

So, is it likely that Blackbeard and Crocodile's plot lines with the Ancient Weapons will progress in the background of the Elbaf Arc?

I think it's likely the real life phenomenon of a global accruing of knowledge where once someone does something the speed at which a second, third, fourth person etc doing the same just continues to increase. Clearly the information is out there and multiple pirates know about it so could be like how in real life once a NY Times Crossword is out there, people who days later hadn't seen it will on average still solve it faster (this is a known phenomena). I do agree with all of your points but am doubtful we will get any explanation from Oda on the matter, hence why I'm trying some plausible info.

Even in the Kaido example you gave, I'm like so what to Kaido going to Lodestar since he can't read the info. Both him & BM seemed to want to take Robin too since they need someone to read the RP. Oda has completely left us with a big question mark when it comes to Poneglyph knowledge and how any pirates outside of Roger & his crew (thanks to VOAT) know anything. At this point its kind of manga magic or plug-in any plausible scenario you can think of as a reader.

On the Rocks example, I also think its important to note that he had some ideas about Poneglyph but nothing close to Roger. Rocks didn't go and get the RP and find the Rio Poneglpyh. And fact is that Roger didn't even go on that final voyage until decade+ from the Rocks incident. This leaves me to believe Rocks only found some random poneglyphs (not RP) and starting digging into info without ever discovering anything significant. Otherwise can't really explain why Roger would wait so long to do the final voyage (maybe more manga magic?).

On the Rocks example, I also think its important to note that he had some ideas about Poneglyph but nothing close to Roger.
Lodestar is not implied to be requiring ability to read the Ancient Language since that is where people go to learn about Poneglyphs and things related in the first place.
Lodestar is where people have to go before they can initiate their journey to Laughtale at all.
Furthermore, when Roger went to Lodestar for the first time, he also couldn't read the Poneglyphs, so there's no reason why Kaido shouldn't be able to acquire the knowledge if he did venture there.

Big Mom unlike Kaido was a veteran, she was one of Rock's commanders, so it makes sense that herself and Shiki were well aware of their importance. In fact, Roger went to WCI to steal her Poneglyph, she had one, so she was probably clued up from Rocks whom the WG said was breaking taboos usually meaning reading poneglyphs.
Shiki asked Roger to use the Ancient Weapon and subordinate himself to him.

Kaido despite being in Wano by sheer luck didn't know he had to interrogate the samurai when Oden was alive, otherwise he would never have waited 20 years to interrogate the Samurai, he'd have done so there and then which implies he only learnt this knowledge recently and thus realised the value of Oden's retainer in wake of Oden's death.

Rock's name was even cleansed from records implying he knew a lot, anything the WG covers up is heavily related to the Poneglyphs and Ancient Kingdom.
He must have had similar knowledge to Roger except for the fact he never went to Laughtale or had the resources/luck, he likely also went to Lodestar.

Big Mom said, she didn't want other people to know the significance of Poneglyph too, otherwise the competition increases which is why Big Mom cursed Roger for starting the Pirate age - this was likely the mentality shared by many pirates other than Roger at the end of his voyage. This explains why Kaido only learnt so late about Poneglyphs, a treasure he'd been sitting on in Wano ignorantly.
Adds more credence to the idea this knowledge is select even amongst the highest level of Pirates. An Emperor like Kaido only learnt about this knowledge recently despite being fully involved in the underworld and it seemingly took Lodestar to begin his true voyage to being Pirate King.

On the Rocks example, I also think its important to note that he had some ideas about Poneglyph but nothing close to Roger. Rocks didn't go and get the RP and find the Rio Poneglpyh. If anything, Roger not going after a decade only serves to imply it's just that difficult to get information. It took him a decade to get any progress in his journey.
He only had the luck of meeting Oden 13 years after Lodestar, so it makes sense he couldn't advance in his journey. It's not that he waited.
Roger knew he needed Road Poneglyphs, he just couldn't get them without Oden, and that's probably the situation that Rocks was in. He knew what he needed, but was unable to acquire them because he lacked luck.

My point being Luffy just has stupid luck, he runs into every thing he needs because of Protagonist privilleges. It makes no sense that Kid just happened to come upon this knowledge.
He's not exactly Big Mom who was a subordinate of Rocks who was actively seeking Ponegylphs as a top tier commander meaning she was likely well informed and given high levels of responsibility. He's not related to an archaeologist. He's not anyone significant to just know he needs Poneglyphs and Road Ones at that.

It's just strange that Kid has knowledge of something impossible to acquire without the right connections. Either he went to Lodestar or maybe there's more to kid than we know.

Guys...remember when Oda knew how to pace a story? This felt like a mini-arc way back in 2022 when it started. 55 (and counting) chapters and nearly 2 years later, we are still on Egghead Island. It's painful.
