Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

He is allowed to use anything he wants, the club is the only thing that keeps him safe from Mihawk.
He doesnt know how to use a sword so he doesnt benefit from using it, his AP decreases since the power behind him swinging a sword and swinging a club is different, significantly different.

If he is swordless and clubless, Mihawk trashes him in an instant...

You've literally created headcannon ranking to suit your end goal (Zoro).

I mean, if Kaido can beat Mihawk with his club, that means the true strongest person would be a club wielder, the strongest weapon in OP!

I think Mihawk is 2nd strongest characters with Kaido being above him but once he picks up a sword instead of the club he loses.

If you ignore everything else about a character's moveset and look at things in terms of sheer skill in the art of pure swordsmanship? Mihawk is the best.

But there are more facets to his strength that just that hypothetical sword and his lack of a proper technique. He wouldn't lose his physicality, his monstrous endurance, his haki, or his devil fruit.

Mihawk could easily parry the sword right out of Kaido's hand, which would demonstrate Mihawk's superiority in that field, but it wouldn't change the fact that Kaido could just knuckle up, continue to fight, and potentially beat down Mihawk with his fist with no problem.

I could be the world's greatest painter and school everyone who holds a paintbrush. But that doesn't mean other artists out there suddenly lose their skill in other areas, where they could be superior to me.

All of the power ranking is headcanon. Mine, yours, everyone's. There is nothing set in stone aside from Kaido being the WSC and Mihawk being WSS.
Logically, by using common sense, Kaido is not as strong with any other weapon as he is with his club.

Last I checked, Mihawk didn't have Oden's swords. Zoro currently has more credibility in potentially beating Kaido one day than Mihawk does.

Any sword will work and in case you forgot, Yoru is king among swords anyway...

Oden swords aren't of the highest grade. So I think Oden was more crucial to injuring Kaido than the swords.

I think the structure will either hold or the power levels of the three strongest fighters after the captain will be even more ambiguous, so there's no way to tell who's stronger than who. Besides, it doesn't matter who's stronger of the crew, Zoro will always fight the strongest swordsman even if the swordsman is the third strongest.

I'm not sure why some people are so insistent on structure, especially when Oda can change it anytime he wants. We know Jinbei is extremely strong, so it shouldn't be a surprise if Jinbei ends up being stronger than Zoro.

Oden swords aren't of the highest grade. So I think Oden was more crucial to injuring Kaido than the swords.

More than likely it's a mix of both, but for argument's sake, the sword's most notable trait is it's seemingly intrinsic ability to harm Kaido. Emphasis has been put on the sword's ability specifically in this arc.

Funny how the denialist changed the topic of Shanks being weaker than Mihawk to Kaido being the strongest and trying to pit him against the WSS LOL, no one is denying Kaido is number 1 but why then are those who are hurt by the fact Shanks is weaker than Mihawk keep talking as if people are refuting Kaido as the strongest in the verse, people on the threads nowadays are getting their logic more and more warped by the second.

I think everything else has a better chance of breaking than Mihawk's sword.
