Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

Why he took it off, I don't know. But to say it as because King somehow broke it is a HUGE stretch after Sanji himself cursing the usefulness of its durability.

Sanji's head looks damaged. I believe King damaged the suit and Sanji cursed how durable it was that it kinda deflected alot of the damage onto the suit instead on Sanji's body. That is why Sanji took it off but of course I can be wrong.

because he wanted to, so he'd be visible when posing with the crew? Is this an attempt to further deny the possibility of Sanji vs. King? In any case, the Straw Hats often get wrecked in their first encounter but then go on to win against the same or stronger opponents.

It would suck if his RS was destroyed this early in the fight. Yes we've seen fights were they lose in their first encounter and then go fight them again and win...But we've also seen how some fights are just skirmishes and nothing more.

Zolo vs Neptune
Sanji vs Califa
Usopp vs Jabura
Luffy vs Yamato
Gyukimaru vs Zolo
Apoo vs Kid

These are just examples of small skirmishes that dont lead to a full fight and they end up fighting other people.

Because it's what we see in he's wanted poster. It's how people know "Cyborg Franky" of the StrawHats.
Sanji took off his RS 'cause there's no "Soba Mask" in the StrawHats crew.
It was for the "StrawHats pose" !
The RS is fine and is gonna be used again later to defeat a calamity

Because Franky wants to look like that? Franky is a weird one, whereas Sanji doesn't like using the Raid Suit unless he has to. There's no need for him to wear it while posing.

Even if all of that is true, this isn't a turn based game. Where is Endurance? Where is skill? Where is willpower and conviction? Where is haki mastery? Fights between two combatants aren't based on stats.



Oda himself has said that if Rayleigh started his own crew, he would be a Yonko tier.

I posted an EOS Luffy, Zoro and Jinbei vs Roger, Rayleigh and Oden fight on another forum (on a beach so Jinbei has a lot of seawater) and this was his reply-

I think the corrected line is even more flattering to Whitebeard. It really demonstrates how much stronger Whitebeard was than everyone else before his illness. Mihawk's words imply that, at that moment, he was within everyone's reach now. He had to have been untouchable when he was healthy.

I would agree... if Garp didn’t exist. Garp should be his equal as a fighter if not his slight superior.

3 possibilities-

It was talking about brute strength/raw power

It was talking about overall poltical power and influence

People think of WB as stronger than he actually is

I don't agree with him on the majority of his thoughts, but Nik actually came through with receipts on this particular topic.

Here is etenboby's and denden mushi's take on Mihawk's speech about WB, they are known translators:

The thing to note that even if the above translation is true, which their translations are purely how the translator chooses to percieve them, Whitebeard was still shown to be far and away stronger than everyone on MF before he started to decline. So at the time of Mihawk's attack.... the distance of strength was just as vast as ever.

And Marco noted WB not fighting with his medicine is a key factor in his rapidly declined health and WB did it for pride and vanity reasons.

(I have spoke with equally qualified Japanese translators who just a confidently claim Mihawk is acknowledging the vast gap between them and WB)

So no matter what translation you use, Mihawk is acknowledging that WB is stronger. Either "WB is stronger than us, I want to see how much stronger than us he is" or "WB has clearly fallen, let's see if he fell to our level".

Either way, it's clear Mihawk isn't his equal, and certainly isn't prime Rogers equal like some foolishly believe. I think this one can be put to rest.

Wow King vs Sanji!!! Is becoming more and more likely!
RS Sanji with invisibility more is Handy as hell, Sanji is definitely going to be using this Suits features to kick some ass. Also it’s durability is A class! Even w/o Luffy’s concern King’s attack definitely looked like it was going to hurt, but The RS definitely tanked that attack.

I did notice Sanji trying to block King’s attack after Saving Momo, but King‘s leg was able to fully extend, meaning he’s stronger than Sanji...If they fight I wonder if Sanji’s RS booster will equal that out or if Sanji will get a power boost naturally without the suit.

Zoro is bleeding from his head, and received a wound from Appoo . Seems like Zoro is really running the gauntlet here, but I don’t think it’s going to hinder the bad boy too much from finishing off his opponents...

Franky!! Franky is the boi. I loved his fight with Senior Pink...but gawwddamn Franky was handicapping himself a lot using only H2H combat. Beam technology is based off of Kizaru’s DF power....I believe Beams are nigh unblockable without Super High Defense. So Franky imo is really totting a heavy hitting non limited attack that would hurt/damage most likely individuals.

P1 & Ulti are still kicking...talk about stamina
