Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

Can't you say that about any high/top tier? I can't think of one who isn't an endurance/durable monster. Even weak Whitebeard needs to tank countless hits before finally succumbing to his wounds

I’m saying that kaido’s crew probably has the best durability/endurance crew so far in the one piece

How is King > Marco? Marco got 2v1'd, held them for hours and he's still not down.

I don't know what's up with that character, he seems to be somewhat trolling. He was seemingly down for the count, but got up soon after, healed Zoro and decided to sit back? Weird guy

Marco honestly seems to be the strongest Yonko commander.

Didn't feel like getting into discussions sooner since things were pretty slow for a while, but now it's all hype!! Can't wait for the YC fights and Momo/Luffy vs Kaido

Who's ready for momo to be stronger than zoro/sanji (... do i dare say combined, only if oda is good to us )?

Who's ready for momo being a hard carry in luffy's fight versus kaido?

I'm really hyped for Momo. Hopefully Oda won't disappoint.

Not sure how the ageing DF works.
Does it take him to a point he would've been at, in his peak? Or does it just age him? If it's the latter, he wouldn't have any haki/training etc, and just be a giant dragon?

Imagine if Momonosuke is a disappointment and didn't get that much stronger since he didn't train. But on the other hand, Oda can do an asspull here if he wanted to and somehow get Momonosuke super strong.

All he has to currently offer is his fruit ability, which will fly Luffy up to Kaido and, potentially, prevent Onishigama from immediately falling on the Flower Capital.

Hmm, maybe. I still don't see it being much use in his hands. Nevermind that fact that Boro Blast has kinda been all sorts of useless so far.

But who knows, maybe he'll get an end of chapter flex against Kaido with his version.

Let's not act as if logic was even anywhere near the building. ONe Piece wouldn't be fun if it cared about logic much, but at least it does acknowledge that the stronger one doesn't necessarily win thanks to haki and devil fruit.

You guys want a manga without logic, then go read Fairy Tail. Oda has been consistent on using logic, he gives a good explanation of why things are. Momo aging and automatically being as powerful say as a Scabbard would be inconsistent. As someone mentioned, he had no training outside of what he practiced, but that is nowhere near powerful. Im sure he'll know how to use a sword but if he starts doing Oden level slashes, that is pretty dumb. Momo should not have haki automatically.
What I do want to see is a Momo vs Orochi, he is too weak to be stepping up to Kaido at the moment even if Luffy and Yamato are there. Orochi would be the perfect opponent for Momo. You see Orochi is a weakling with an amazing mythical DF, but he lacks power. Momo also has an extremely cool DF and kinda lacks power too. Plus Momo gets to properly avenge his father, disposes of the fake shogun, and lets face it. orochi is still alive and no one but Momo deserves this kill.

The grandfleet is going to be no better than the typical friendly arc fodder that always finds themselves side-by-side with the sh's (arguably weaker)... and the longer oda takes to pull them out, the more useless they'll become.

...i don't know why people want them saved for the last arc; they need to grow alongside the crew (even if "one at a time"-ish).

What happened to make you think they wouldn’t grow? I mean, being off on their own adventures is how they were good supporters in the first place? Luffy has declared war on two Yonko. We already know their influence and how it stretches. You don’t think the affiliates of BM and Kaido not present aren’t gonna pick fights with any Strawhat members they see? Those who were expecting smiles and now cant get them won’t want revenge? You don’t think the Marines aren’t gunna up the rewards for this new Yonkou crew, and it’s already formed fleet, after they beat the two oldest and most established crews? One for a second time. Literally they entire pirate world should be gunning for anybody associated with Luffy as he sets himself up as the leading PK candidate. His fleet should be doing nothing but fighting and being challenged right now. An it’s only going to get worse from here on out. I personally can’t wait to see how strong they are once they run into them again. Particularly Sai and his brother. An they were already absorbing another Navy into theirs before joining the fleet. Honestly the troops aspect of OP is one of my favorites and i feel like people underestimate how important the kind of power that is for Luffy (most likely God Usopp, let’s be frank) to wield.

That's how bad wano has been and how few shits oda has given about developing the strawhats. We are in motherfucking wano and zoro's samurai headcount, in spite of there being an entire country's worth of samuria enemies, is zero. Zoro will walk out of wano without having defeated a single samurai. Because oda for some reason made non scabbard samurai to be garbage that got off handedly defeated in a few frames... And this considering zoro is still one of the strawhats that has gotten the most development in the new world...

Like at he least, he should have had some kind of nod that he had been actively dueling Samurai. Like being called/named a Ronin hunter, so we knew he’d really been out here dueling and growing while waiting. Instead of just being left to assume he has been doing so in this wasteland as real life training. Have somebody reference a known record like the old samurai stories do. Winner of 1,000 duels. Like damn Zoro.

Like all it takes is a new costumes and maybe a new title or two sprinkled in to make the growth and training/growth apparent
