Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

  • For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
  • Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
  • Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
  • We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

  1. Shanks v Mihawk
  2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
  3. Zoro > Luffy
  4. Zoro v Sanji
  5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
  6. Mihawk's rank within the story
  7. Law having CoC currently.
  8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

So from seeing Yamato vs Kaido we can conclude that
Yamato > Ulti and Sasaki. I dont know why Yamato didnt just one shot Sasaki right away like she did with Ulti.
Yamato > Ace even if that Ace at that time was on par with Jimbei. so Yamato > Jimbei
Assuming Yamato was as strong as she is now when she met Ace
Yamato > YC1s? I dont see Katakuri or even Marco fighting Hybrid Kaido and managing to wound him or stay this long fighting Kaido
Yamato > Base ACoC Luffy

What do you guys think, is Yamato above YC1s and below Yonko just like Luffy is

It made his attacks clash equally with Kaido's. That's a big enough deal. The power and speed boost of Gear 4 should make a significant difference.

We may finally see Kaido go all out.
i wanna see if Kaido has an awakened state as well... not sure if he does as we haven't seen any awakened zoans outside ID, who could be influenced by Vegapunk...

Gear 4 + snakeman +CoC should do it, but not a one hit KO.

This honestly comes down solely to how you read certain characters.

I've already posted a couple of times that I think Katakuri has ACoC despite it not being explicitly stated. So, personally, I think he'd do much better than any of the Supernova during that round. That said, I don't know how he'd do compared to Yamato. Has to be somewhere between Luffy's first-round performance and Yamato's performance.

And then you have Marco who, despite being choked out by Big Mom, had also received some praise a scene or two later from her as she noted it would be troublesome to deal with him without the rest of her homies. But...that's about it in terms of direct competition with a Yonkou. And, of course, the absence of ACoC on his part is a minus.

King hasn't done much of anything but stand around menacingly, so there's no telling, but I'm going to hazard a guess that he doesn't have ACoC. That said, his Lunerian lineage might end up being a suitable replacement for ACoC, but that's just crack theory territory on my part.

So do I believe Yamato is above YC1? In terms of actual performance, yeah, no doubt. But in the greater context? I'm not actually sure. Everyone just under the Yonkou level is probably in a weird muddled position. Even then, I largely believe that once you reach that level, you can do something against one. Definitely not win, but not be completely outmatched.

i wanna see if Kaido has an awakened state as well... not sure if he does as we haven't seen any awakened zoans outside ID, who could be influenced by Vegapunk...

Gear 4 + snakeman +CoC should do it, but not a one hit KO.
I will be exceedingly disappointed if Kaido doesn't have an awakening. I want King and Queen to have it as well, but I can tolerate it if they don't.

Yamato is clear or Zoro. None of those rooftop Supernovas were able to fight a Yonko one on one, they were struggling in a 5v2. Honestly, Yamato seems stronger than Luffy right after getting advanced CoC.
Yamato might be stronger than base coc luffy but g4 snakeman luffy? Nah bro

Lol what?

Yes with Law's help he didn't turn into dust and that scar is superficial.

Zoro with the help of the SN couldn't match Kaido.
Idk what ur getting at? I’m saying he took damage from 2 yonkos. Law just teleport him

Zoro scar on kaido is on the lvl of oden. (I’m not saying zoro=oden)
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Ehh Zoro tends to use his strongest moves when his body is in bad condition , and again Zoro participated in a 5 v 2 . Heck he seems somewhat more ruthless against Yamato than the others even
Ans I don’t think that’s the case , Yamato is once again the combination of two monstrously strong characters, the child of kaido , the strongest creature in the world as well being the new oden
Oden joined the roger pirates and was around the same level as Rayleigh/scopper ( Rogers strongest dudes )
And if you think Yamato gonna fall behind , their dream is to go to sea and get many times stronger

I also think maybe kaido’s l might have been misinterpreted, heck we all expected Yamato to be down and out but they still in good enough fighting condition , lasted the longest 1 vs 1 against kaido
Maybe the final W is for luffy to be taken down by the strongest guys
Also lastly Zoro scaring is impressive but once again Yamato hasn’t exactly used their strongest finisher yet
Yamato will be a strong crew mate for luffy(if she joins) but In the end she will behind zoro and sanji

All from the manga. Most of her fight scenes were after the manga mentioned 15 mins until onigashami landing. There were lots of panels during this, but could be only a few mins of actual fight time.

By feats Yamato is stronger than Luffy, she's much stronger than Zoro.
What feats exactly? Fighting kaido again like she has hundreds of times before? She hasn't been shown to hurt him, nor has kaido shown any concern during their fight.

Few characters outside of the worst generation have been shown to get significantly stronger within a few years. She drew with ace a few years ago. She fought and lost to a yonko many times just like ace. YC level is about right.

We've seen macro and jimbe stall BM by themselves. It doesn't mean the fights were equal.

No it's not since Oden did more damage. Kaido legit felt Zoro's scar for a second then laughed it off.

So taking damage is supposed to be a feat now?

Kaido was down after Oden's attack

But he was barely affected by Zoro's attack, he only commented it would leave a scar

what is taking damage a feat of?

yeah i get durability/eating attacks but getting hurt within isn't a feat...
Durability, and if you can continue to fight after devastating attacks; Endurance.

So Zoro blocking 2 Yonko isn't a feat because he got hurt? Nonsense. The level of feat it is can be debated, but not the fact that it proves once again Zoro is a monster capable of withstanding huge amounts of damage like any mid-high tier fighter

Yes but taking the damage within itself isn't a feat.

That's the gist of it, yeah.:yoda

He slowed it and would've died had law not saved him.

Even as far as meat shields go, his preformace was less than stellar. 🥩

The level of feat it is can be debated

It's honestly a trash feat.

if he:

- didn't need to be saved
- redirected it
- ate it

It'd be impressive.

...it was killing him. :yoda

Durability is a stat: the ability to withstand damage.

And events that reinforce that stat are feats.

Zoro withstood the damage of 2 Yonko for several seconds without dying instantly. That's a feat. I'm not saying it's a God level feat but it is impressive for a mid commander level character to do.

What Zoro did is more a feat of intelligence than anything else. He sacrificed himself so the other 4 fighters could continue.

He slowed down the combined attack of Kaido and Big Mom so the others could dodge... but he broke all of his bones as a result.

In terms of durability, 2 attacks that can make a concrete wall disappear only broke his bones.

He left a scar but the damage and size of the scars aren’t even close
Oden legit briefly knocked kaido out and forced him out of his zoan form in a single 1 vs 1 , Zoro did damage kaido but again not even close damage wise

Technically it was described as more of an instant , it kinda went namek time

According to Toei in the future, Zoro stops the attack for half a episode and only his pinky toe breaks

It's funny Zoro's feat is usually hyped to all hell and I'm usually on the other side trying to bring those claims back down to logical level and now I'm alone in hyping it as even a minimum feat 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Zoro blocking those two attacks is a feat, but it's actually the preamble of a better feat.

It's impressive in itself, even if of course he needed to be saved by Law:
- Other strong characters like Kid acknowledged they were saved by Zoro momentarily blocking an attack that would have beaten them.
- Zoro was the only one who reacted properly to the attack and jumped in front to at least try to block it, logically faster than Law could shambles them, since he bought him time for that.

However, what's best about Zoro's performance in the rooftop is that he took that damage and then, after having sustained it and having pushed himself a bit further over his physical limits (with the Prometheus scene) he still managed to scar Kaido with one last all-out attack, replicating Oden's feat despite the sorry state he was alerady in.

Blocking Conquest of the Sea and saving the others was far more impressive then scaring Kaido in my opinion.

The scarring was absolutely pointless if it didn't even do anything to Kaido.

Oh the feat is hype as hell 😭😭
I think only maybe 2 other members in Yamato or luffy are possibly capable of similar
I dunno saying he copied oden feat is not the same cause oden did beat and knock kaido out , kaido just kinda staggered after zoro’s attack
It’s also a much bigger scar

It's a strength feat. The argument you made could be made about any other attack done to Kaido so far on the rooftop.
