Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.
8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

That is why I still have not read WCI, during the 2 years WCI was happening I didn't even take part in the OP community because One Piece without Zoro holds no interest for me. Also why I'm only active on One Piece forums when something relevant to Zoro is happening.

Ah yes, one of the best moments in the history of manga definitely is the "year of sanji" which sanji spent mostly baking a cake which gave big mom an orgasm. 10/10 writing right there.

Honesty, if anyone read WCI that saw Sanji "saving" everyone with a cake and didn't expect Luffy's G5 to be Looney Toon shit... shame on you

I've said many times before... I'm not a One Piece fan. I'm a Zoro fan. One Piece as a manga doesn't interest me.

Was this the case when you started watching too? I find it hard to believe you watched since day 1 because of Zoro lmao

tbh that was my case.

I like many more things about the series but once upon a time I didn't watch or read any anime/manga until I caught Zoro hunting a triceratops on TV and I started this for him only.

Believe it or not, what got me into watching One Piece was Mihawk cutting Don Krieg's Ship

The sound effect of it and the frame of it instantly splitting in 2 was insane.

I think OP came out in US on 4Kids the year after Pirates of Caribbean Black Pearl came out and since I was into pirates from the movie when I ran into the first english episode randomly and it opened with the whole Gold Roger, treasure bit I was hooked. I didn't even need to know about characters story etc.

I didn't get into One Piece until the 4Kids run was going on, but the first I saw of it was in a Shounen Jump magazine I had back in the day when the series had only reached Chapter 15 in America. Chapter 15. Ironically enough, it was the final page of that chapter that always stuck with me, most specfically Zoro's bandana.

Started watching One Piece on a french anime channel, was like 6-7 years old.
I properly got into it in my teens though.

When it was on 4kids I thought it was trashed then it was on toonami still thought it was trash (at the time i was a big naruto fan) but I kept hearing the hype about it around when luffy lost his crew then finally gave it a try the animation was goofy but overtime got use to it and never looked back one piece is a masterpiece. @LadyVados thats cap. That would mean u didn’t watch from Amazon lily arc-timeskip arc because zoro wasn’t present at that time.

Started Naruto and Bleach the second Shonen Jump started its US run when I was 12 or so. Was too cool for One Piece.

Then I grew up, went through some shit and 15 years later was cultured enough to consume One Piece properly. Shit, my whole history of that change is on this very board, so very far back. Hell I was lurking for a couple years before my official join date, going on two decades being here. Surreal.

Of course, he did something in the start, the middle and towards the end as it was supposed to be his year. I just don’t remember it as well as was overshadowed by Jinbei’s masterclass helmsmanship and Pedro’s sacrifice towards the end. And of course Brook was awesome in the main part of the arc, along with the top grade thriller that was Luffy vs Katakuri.

Technically, it was still the Year of Sanji. Got no action, but he was the focus and got the lion's share of development.

Brook was the MVP of arc though.

While we're on the topic of Sanji, I'm upset that Bouef Burst wasn't animated as impactful as it was in the manga. The combo was tops though.
