Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.
8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

That makes no sense. Lunarians are still made out of flesh, it's when their flame is on their back that they become incredibly durable. The most likely scenario is that the flame and steel body stack defense wise.

The original pacifista also bled. They probably were clones with cyborg enhancements. The seraphines are probably like that as well considering the tube like things through which we see green blood running and lasers. But since it's the fire that actually gives lunarians their durability I would have assumed these applied at least over their base durability.

Always wondered if the lunarian flames can be put out to bypass their defense or does the opponent always have to wait for an opening to counter attack? So far with the Seraphim they haven't at all used speed mode and as a result they've successfully tanked all the attacks from Luffy, Zoro, Lucci, Sanji without any signs of wearing. If there is no way to directly bypass the defense or force the flames to go out, Seraphim maybe impenetrable defense.

Given how wano played out, I would venture the guess that it's very likely seraphines simply have absurdly high defense. Zoro made the point that even king dodged his attacks later on. Seraphines are insanely durable but they probably take damage, even if only small amounts.

Actually OP would be better without many characters. But he seraphims just kinda are a cheap copy of lunarians, warlords, and previous DF users. I rather learn more about the Lunarians than seraphims

As i get older, I learned to just enjoy the ride, even though i agree with your notion (damn you Nika!). I guess I have enough trust in Oda that i don't think it will be a second Edo Tensei type of situation. I actually see a whole plot around them, not just a convenient plot tool. I'm sure even now in hospital Oda makes some notes.

Unlike the Nika thing, the Seraphims were hinted looong ago

If it was just a matter of whose blood the navy had access to, Vegapunk could've made an army of Garp Seraphim instead. There's something else at play here with the creation of the Seraphim. Or it's just arbitrary.

The explanation is that the Seraphim exist to replace the Shichibukai... there's ins't much else to it

As already mentioned, the concept of cloning and cyborgs were in play since Part 1 with the Pacifista. At the start of Part 2 Sentomaru called them outdated prototypes, so the Seraphim have likely been planned for a long while.

The Seraphim are far from the "everyone's here" situation that Edo Tensei introduced. Aside from them being potentially limited to the number of Shichibukai (be it an in story reason or just thematically), Vegapunk was likely only able to create the handful he has due to just not having infinite money or resources.

Plus, the Seraphim aren't going to be the "main" threat of the final war, just an aspect.

Edo Tensei's weakness was the emotional baggage that came with it. Seraphim's by definition aren't the same person, and emotionless.

I don't know, Crocodile Seraphim have the same scar as the original and the Seraphim Mihawk certainly runs away from any challenges like the original

Also the Seraphim Hancock has the same attitude like the original

Tbh I was quite sad that law got bodied by BB. I want law to progress in the pl. He's my favorite character in one piece. People said it was mid diff but it looked like a low diff

Blackbeard needs it, he's likely the 2nd last villain of the series (final one is Imu I predict), but dude hasn't been looking impressive at all.

Shanks goes onto one shot Kid (who is tankier and has better physical stats than Law btw) and Killer at the same time.

While Blackbeard, Luffy's nemesis built up since Jaya, is out there shitting his pants in front of Aokiji and old Rayleigh....not saying he would've lost, its in character behavior but it certainly contributes to lower his hype when he doesn't get any good hype moments. Only one he got was choke diffing Boa Hancock but we don't know how strong she's to begin with.

Looking at how Blackbeard vs Law started out, I honestly am tempted to have current Luffy over Blackbeard (pretty clearly by feats), inspite of the narrative/portrayal that Blackbeard is supposed to be a wall for Luffy until the end


And... Law definitely pushed Blackbeard to a mid diff at minimum. All that injuries and state of Blackbeard doesn't indicate a low diff

I dont think the seraphim were hinted since sabaody. Yes we had PX Kumas and I was fine with that being the limit, due to Kuma voluntarily giving his body and mind away. But these baby warlord clones with different devil fruits just leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Even the whole germa 66 cloning process was wacky imo.

And actually I enjoyed Edo Tensei, due to new (dead) characters coming into play and showing off their amazing abilities.
Yes a few were recycled (Deidara) but for the most part the dead ninjas were pretty original and fearsome like the Kages, Madara of course, a few exceptional ninjas from all the villages, 2 the fox brothers, etc.
I mean I would be happy if we got to see some EdoTensei version of OP for Rocks pirates or even roger himself.
