What? I don't understand what you are trying to say anymore? You are just providing more proof to my (and others) point, that color schemes may change later in the series.

Also I don't like this hostility. And I ha e a feeling you completely misread or misunderstood my writings. Or something was unclear on my half.
I apologies if I came off as hostile, but with your accusation of "whitewashing" in your previous post, a subject that tends to lean on the serious side, then it makes sense if I get a little more serious in my own reply.

Your post simply came off as an accusation of the anime staff being whitewashers of race. If that wasn't your intention, then again, I apologize, but I think it's only fair I took it that seriously considering the original wording.

That in mind, I hope that cleared up any misunderstandings and appreciate those who take the time to read and understand my posts. Thank you.

Moving on then.

I see, so that's where the misunderstanding is. I never accused anyone of whitewashing. Thus it was in "..." that usually means so called or is ironic/mocking in nature.

There was never whitewashing in One Piece and I never said there was. But it was a thing that some people back in the day accused One Piece of, so I mockingly referenced the "whitewash-gate" with "..."

But yeah, maybe not get so hostile so fast and re-read what you replying to a few times.

No idea. I just try to use manga examples as best I can instead of just seeing what I want to see.
You know, I actually like your approach on this. And kuro mentioned thingamajig's razor.
See, if we're going for the most obvious approach, then the mystery man is Shiki. Why? Because of the hair, the coat, and the hat potentially hiding his ship's wheel. Him hanging out with Crocus may just be because he's retired and has become friendly.
But then there's the obvious things against it: Oda once said he wasn't going to use Shiki in the main story. (I think). Shiki is still part of the world, but the idea that he'll show up here is against the guiding principle of the movie canon.

But here's something else: I bet they colored him blond because someone on the coloring staff thought that was Shiki too.

If we start asking why it's Scopper? Well, the only thing we really have before Redon's hint is "we haven't seen him yet." Which, honestly, is a really meta clue, and we're going off of it because of the Crocus page's bias.

For me, I'd rather it not be Scopper, because I just want to be surprised and have a laugh with you all.
With that hint though, I feel like it's scopper.

@electricmastro

Scare quotes (also called shudder quotes[1][2] or sneer quotes[3][4][5]) are quotation marks that writers place around a word or phrase to signal that they are using it in an ironic, referential, or otherwise non-standard sense.[6] Scare quotes may indicate that the author is using someone else's term, similar to preceding a phrase with the expression "so-called";[7] they may imply skepticism or disagreement, belief that the words are misused, or that the writer intends a meaning opposite to the words enclosed in quotes.[8]
Maybe this is not a thing in your native language, but in written English it is.

But yeah, this was 110% you getting hostile and accusing me things I never did, not an if. Because of misunderstanding.

This was back in a time before the anime staff consulted with Oda about the color schemes of certain characters, hence why Marco turned out the way he did. Whatever the anime staff did or didn't do first compared to Oda is irrelevant.

The anime team decided on this Marco, so should this Marco have been part of Oda's vision too? lol:

The thing u wrong here, animator never really consulte to mangaka, studio buy the right, n they can do whatever they want, thats include one piece,,
N to note when this apper he just look like random background char, n i dont think animator really care who he is,,

Honestly, I'm not sure about either. Although I suppose having Gaban there would lead into more explanation of the mural and some more lore, since he saw what Roger, Rayleigh, Sunbell, and all the rest saw.

I didn't consider Gaban being able to give an alternate interpretation... But then... That means if he's the husband, he's letting Ridley have the wrong opinion about the mural which feels kind of icky.

Honestly, this is just a guess, but I think the color scheme on the cover page is is just the colorist taking a guess that it is Shiki. Thus the same color garment and hair.

It could be, but I just don't see why he, a character we know to be quite bitter in nature, would be friends with his adversarys shipmate. Or why would bring him back to the story now.

I totally agree. The colorist probably just saw it and took a swing. Who knows. Poor artist might just be an intern rushing to get things done for all we know. Or, the colorist could just have been like: "This is a funny reference."

Regarding Shiki, those are all the rational points that I agree with. with the aggressive design elements being the thing that fights them.
To play Devil's Advocate, a thing with Shiki's character is that he respected Roger. He raged over the fact that Roger was going to be executed in the weakest sea. Roger didn't deserve to die there in his estimation. He called it a humiliation.
He also was perfectly willing to team up with Roger. He refused to believe Roger was beaten. Everything screams respect. Give it years, and nix Strong World, and you have a plausible mellowing with age where he's willing to have a chat with the few people who knew Roger's strength.
We already saw Shiki drinking with Whitebeard, despite their animosity toward each other.

I'd have to use wonky reasoning to justify his return now. I'd have to say that Oda changed his mind about Shiki in the context of the movies not coming into the main manga. I'd have to bring up Shiki being brought back into the story through the Rocks flashback.
Ultimately, it'd come down to Oda making an unprecedented choice. That's really the only way to argue it.

But all that said, it doesn't matter if Redon is hinting dual axes. The only big twist now is if BOTH Shiki and Scopper are there somehow.

Oh! As something I remembered, back in the day, people theorised that the one sitting with Crocus was Brook's old captain who had survived.

Yorki! Well, there are two figures riding the whale in the mural. If we take the mural as prediction, and not a depiction of the past, the maybe it is Yorki and Crocus :D

(Though if it depicts the future indeed, it might as well be Brook and Crocus)

Honestly, that would be a fun twist. I'm not saying it's impossible in One Piece. But guy would be like 90 years old... Kamesennin?

Though I guess Scopper would ne in his 80s aswell.

Unless of course it's not actually Gaban and Redon was referencing Brogy with a general axe reference.

Oh, wait, wait, maybe I shouldn't say any more beyond that. I might be poking the beehive and getting the bees mad by not validating the claims, so I'll say this:

I think that might just be Gaban.

The real answer is nobody beats the Straw Hat Crew due to plot.

The more logical answer is that Blackbeard has gravity to bring his opponents to him, and nullify their ability. It seems to not work to the extent sea-stone does (where sea-stone weakens them beyond power nullification).

Kuzan fought Akainu for 10 days straight and while he ended up losing, he isn't weak. I don't really see Kuzan being a good match up for any of the SHP, so I'm thinking either Luffy defeats him as a prerequisite to the arc where Blackbeard is ultimately defeated, or Kuzan isn't involved in the final showdown at all.

Seems like the match ups will be:
Luffy vs Blackbeard
Zoro vs Shiryuu
Brook vs Lafitte
Jinbe vs Burgess
Chopper vs Doc Q
Usopp vs Van Auger
Nami vs Catarina Devon
Robin vs Avalo
Franky vs San Juan Wolf
Sanji vs ??

Maybe Sanji could fight Kuzan, but I feel like that battle is way more personal for Luffy than it would be for Sanji seeing as how Kuzan spared Luffy, but captured Garp. Kuzan was enough to scare the hell out of the entire Black Beard Crew and have Blackbeard apologizing for their transgressions.
I suppose it could shape up that Kuzan will quit to be replaced by Caribou, since he does have big info enough to impress Blackbeard.

Well as much as I like your approach that Shiki might be the one in question, I respectfully disagree.
There are many reasons maling me think that it‘s not Shiki.
@Riku did already name some IMO crucial points regarding the matter. I‘d like to add why would Shiki bother to walk the whole distance despite lacking proper feet? And IIRC Ripley did not speak of being in a long distance relationship with Colon‘s dad for modt of the time.

I mean anyone can change in this manga... look at Chopper... that amount of physical change shouldn't be possible in a time skip... he's a different character.

The colorists obviously didn't have access to old Gaban's identity or color scheme since his appearance was a decade after. It was a null argument anyway.

And thus we conclude that color choices in the colored manga or anime, do not necessarily mean much.

"colour manga" n anime are not made by Oda, n he not even care what they do, eventually they will adabt for what Oda do in colour spread or Volume cover, because that only canon source from Oda,,

I don't think it's always justification to immediately dismiss stuff like that though. I don't claim he colorists are always right, but if it's part of the manga, then it's worth keeping in mind until further examples come along.

I agree with this perspective.
While precedent can be a good predictor, it doesn't predict 100% of the times, so keeping alternatives and keeping the most popular interpretation in mind is just worthwhile. Nothing wrong with an open mind.

There were further points though, but you dismissed them as somehow lesser evidence. While the coloring was the least convincing evidence.

You were just wrong about this this time. It happens, can't be right always.
