Forgot about that part. Was referring to the part where he deduces Lord Blackwood's modus in the prize fighting cellar (after the explosive scene).

Seriously Imp, isn't the movie out? The news says it's currently raking in pounds in theaters.
Its been out for months, i just havent bothered to watch it.

-sings "Si, Manny Villar, ang maguubos sa ating... Kayamanan."-

Everyone's dead again?

EDIT: Oh, how I wish we make those political ads that destroy political careers like they do in the States.

To be fair, everyone's out to get everyone else.

I just hope that neither NP nor LP win.

I just hope foreign military forces suddenly invade the country 5 minutes before the winners of the election is broadcasted.

sickening...the political tradition here is more based on patronage than capabilities and resolute political will.. but i guess this is same with every other democratic government. i would have voted for mel carreon if its just for some good laughs.

lol. quite true. Gordon himself stated that the majority of the Filipino people are politically immature. I mean, in the U.S., they have no political rallies that showcase the talent of their candidates.

The problem is we vote people, not issues. They keep on campaigning pro-poor, pro-education, anti-corruption, etc. etc. Yes, they're standard campaign promises, but as goals they suck. They're not specific and measurable. Which makes any president who campaigns using that premise not accountable to their promises.

Here's how we do it right now: "When I'm elected president, I'm going to eliminate poverty". That's wrong in so many ways. First, you can't eliminate poverty, it's mathematically impossible. Second, eliminate it by when?

The way it should be done is something like: "When I'm elected president, I'm going to make sure that 90% of Filipinos will be above the poverty line, earning at least 10000 a month, by the year 2010. I'll accomplish this by encouraging small and medium businesses, and promote their growth. I'll also increase the capacity of TESDA in order to give the poor more skills and more proficiency to earn livelihood with."

I've wanted to hear a candidate with a similar complete pre-programmed agenda for more than a decade now. It's become frustrating that it's come to a point I don't care if he's a commie, as long as it's a specific goal.

Ah, bureaucracy. The government'll have everything against the communist candidate even if it means faking a coup d'etat. And notice how communists are running for the senate now that their congressional term is over.

Question is, what happened to the funds these communist party-list representatives received? :darn

And how would we vote for party-list representatives now? When I saw the list of approved party-list candidates the first page was full of 1's and AAA's.

They compensated with the ballot size. Now they're extremely long.

You noticed the 1's and A's, too? Some of those party seem to just insert the 1s so they get to go in first. I don't remember the last one (since I immediately recognized them as attention mongering idiots who don't deserve space in my memory), but the "1" in front of the name is so out of place, it's obvious they just want to be seen 1st.

@Paperboy. What's SSDD? The Sanlakas, Akbayan, Gabriela, etc. groups are all commies. And I don't mean "commie" as in the blanket term for leftist liberals, but groups that are actually aligned with the CPP-NPA-NDF. Those groups who're typically in rallies.

I know this for a fact, because back in UP I've got orgmates who were in those organizations and eventually ended up caught in an encounter with the military.

The twisted "logic" they currently have is, "voters just vote for party-list groups randomly based on what they first see" may be quite true. But what I'm gonna do this election is avoid the 1st and 2nd pages. Heck better to not even vote any group at all. Why would "specific sectors" need representation anyway? Can't their own district representatives do that?

To exacerbate that, our freaking media is enabling our politics to remain a couple of centuries backwards.

you mean they were swept into the orgs without fully comprehending those orgs' goals and causes?

or are you saying these orgs had some activities with goals not fully disclosed even to its tact members? or those guys arent just tactful enough

well, arent things running a bit fishy? id like to think there are major scheming in some if not most alliances; and though there are those who stick true to the beliefs, unbeknowingly, they become something dispensable for that society over issues that serves the interests of the few...im talking about sacrificial lambs.

or say, meron double agents whose agendas are to thwart the ideals of the intially pure orgs to counter those very ideals they are trying to pursue..

ay galibog ulo ko.

1) The only kind of organization that succeeds in society without incorporating the interests of the few is the organization that is purposefully made to control the masses. In short, the free press.

2) Communists have a foothold in (more than) one of our more prestigious universities, citing the "idealism of youth" as a breeding ground for socialist ideas.

3) Double agents? Seriously, the only times a government such as ours (that cut through funding) will use double agents is when national security is at stake. Remember Marcos? Well you can say his "boys" incited an "insurgency" among the youth to make his "enemies" reveal themselves.
Concerning the party-lists, seryoso ako. The question isn't "Why do they exist", but rather "Why are they allowed to exist?" They always pretend to be on the side of the masses, but since the House of Congress collectively passes resolutions (as a whole), what right do they have of saying "hey I made your life better, vote for me stupid faceless man"?

You know what I believe is the real definition for a party-list? A specific sector that aims to protect their own interests however small their group can be. Even religious groups have their own sectoral representatives in the Congress. And major corporations hiding underneath sheep's clothing too. And the commies.

Where's Captain America? We need him to take out the commies. What? His enemies are Nazis? :darn

We is doomed as a country.

Well, their comprehension doesn't matter much (and those were really smart people, mind you) because in the end they ended up joining a violent communist revolutionaries.

What's happening is that those organizations have memberships that are linked to NPA organization. The CPP-NPA-NDF had an ideological rift several years ago that gave birth to these organizations (SANLAKAS, BAYAN, etc. IIRC). So apparently these links are inciting the young ones to join back to the main group.

...and seriously too, how infrequently were those times(#3)? i no longer believe everything in political or even economic government is as demagogues usually portray them to be.... i am a closet skeptic.... and i have a reeeally strong tendency to believe in the conspiracy theories....:shifty

and i dont believe the media isnt affected.... tv, print, and every medium, already tainted...whats left for us is deliberate choice of what to believe.....taking into consideration the psychological influence of media on the populace, you think the conspiring societies overlooked its feasibility? :notrust
