Funny how a pointless conversation became a heated topic.

A friend of mine was ranting about society, the benefits, the disparity between the rich and the poor, and describing in detail that capitalism is the end product of a society based on greed. Then he whines how communism failed big time - how every socialist state became a "big brother" country. And challenged us to name a country that is a successful socialist republic.

"Moses' Israel" I chipped in.

"WHAT?"

So I stated that the whole Torah was basically a guideline for a perfect communist society. How people are led by "prophets". How there are no difference, nor special treatment, between citizens.

... And then the conversation digressed to the apocalyptic times. Sigh.

While watching Hubert webb with his pseudo-lisp, playing with his trained dog and already wearing a polo shirt and shorts his size with new shoes, I couldn't help but call him "F*CKING RICH SONOVABITCH!"

Just got out of prison and he already has these clothes and shit. Saying he's still willing to continue the fight if need be coz he's confident the evidence was burned and

Mostly because it's only 15 days until next year . And I've still got 20+ eps of Love at First Fight and 7 episodes of the Katanagatari talkfest (and trollfest. It's like the most trollish anime I've ever seen) to slave through.

But yeah, I've heard good things from it. It's girly stuff, but it seems like a decently funny romcom (and I'm the weird guy who'd watch romcoms just because they're romcoms), so I'm gonna watch it.

The almost-chibi Iron Man? Yeah, not good at all.

That latest Transformers isn't to my taste either. The robots seem to look more like trash-compacted cars than transformed cars.

Funny thing, the armor is only the Mark IV. Someone didn't give the designs for the Mark V (suitcase Iron Man) in time.

I havent even given it a try. I almost completely stopped watching anime. On the other hand ive been reading more manga. Maybe deep down i am stopping myself. Like a type of final frontier anti-otaku self-defence mechanism. Wow.

On another note, ive been playing Civ5 more and more. When i first got it, i dismissed it quickly. But now that i have been playing for a longer period of time, im falling in love.

Well I also stopped watching anime as soon as I started reading more manga. Usually I only read anime manga when I can't access the manga for it. Coz the thing with manga is that I can read it at my own pace. Watching anime I can't take it especially when they drag scenes too long. >.<

How does someone do that?


Yea i tend to abuse the foward button with some animes. You know they are dragging it just to fill the required time because they have too little plot to work with. This is especially the case with Manga > Anime adaptions.

Hey, you're new! Welcome to MH! What manga do you read?

RE: Yuutsu no Suzumiya Haruhi and girl's stuff. Don't get fooled by the pop-ness of it (even though I haven't really seen a lot of it).

If it doesn't have bishounen (girly-looking men) amidst flowery backdrops and girls talking relationships, it's not girl stuff.

Besides, don't worry about gender stuff in anime . If it interests you, there's nothing wrong about it. It's nice to have a perspective into the mind of the opposite gender.

Suzumiya Haruhi is not "girl's stuff"

1. Kyon is not a bishie.

2. there are no flowery backdrops.

3. It is a story about a 15-year old girl with bipolar tendencies having omnipotent powers (does... God ring a bell?) but she doesn't know it. Every time her mood swings something severe happens to the world. There is a guy that could be the object of this girl's affections that could greatly influence the world's future.

It's just not something that children can understand. The very point that she has omnipotent powers would be heresy to a lot of people already.

I was actually surprised when I saw them airing Lucky Star. I thought "what a... brave? move that was.."

I wouldn't really know if it was brave, or wrong. Lucky star is a show that is certainly not for everyone. It's either you like it or you don't, and for you to like it, you have to be major Otaku to get the gist, and if you're an Otaku it doesn't even guarantee that you're gonna like how that show was written.

And if they dubbed it... I don't even think 90% of the show could be translated the way they should have meant.

So for TV5- what ratings do they want to achieve by showing Lucky Star?

what is your greatest fear? That mouthless cat they call Hello Kitty that was then a subliminal message to Japanese women that they should be meek and what they say does not matter?

Heh. Sorry I just had to say that.

What I'm trying to say is that you should never be distressed by liking "girl stuff" if it really has the content that grips you to watch/read more. It just means that the story was well written, regardless of the demographic it was intended for.

If I'm a girl and I read Naruto (although I don't ) it's okay. So likewise, a guy reading shoujo/josei should be alright as well. It doesn't mean anything.

So relax, and prepare to be violatedwelcomed by these people here
