I seen chris was there...but he was actually a cast member at one time.
Like you said...he may have something in the process with the same network...idk.
But usually not always...the host of snl is big news in movies,politics,music,etc.

@gnut @xi0 did you see Chappelle hosting SNL ? I only saw the one skit and the intro monologue but it was awesome, so much funnier than Kevin Hart.

I forgot he was hosting, but I saw his monologue and few skits that were put up on youtube, pretty good.

Didn't watch the whole thing but the monologue was the best part, and then the Walking Dead skit with some of his character impersonations. The others. . . Meh, the last call one I didn't really like, the delivery felt kinda off.

The election night skit with Chris Rock was pretty funny. The monologue was good, yeah....but that cold opening was just...wut. You'd have thought it was 9/11 all over again or something...

Yeah, usually the ones they think the least of are put there, but sometimes some gems can be found there. Never no how an audience will react to something.
