But Whitebeard can destroy the world, not all at once, but within a certain time. So no exaggeration, since he was capable of doing it. Creating waves of that size would have decimated hundred thousands of people. Just compare it to the real world, just with much more effect.

Well, a whithered old WB was more than capable of sinking marineford, he had to be stopped. I doubt earth would have exploded had he used his full power in the past but certainly it was within his capacity to trash humongous areas with ease. tsunami's, earthquakes, the guy is a tectonic plate away from sinking a small country... In OP that is about as close as you come to actually destroying the world IMHO lol. I also don't think raileight being 100 times stronger than the rookies is that much of an exageration. Lets assume the strawhats fight kizaru 1000 times in a raw. Kizaru would easily trash them 1000 times in a row without breaking a sweat. Its not just the strawhats can't physically make contact with him, even if they could they simply would not cut it. Raileight showed he was more than capable of holding kizaru back, the guy is certainly many times the threat the strawhats or any other rookie is now....

bittman, our feelings about Teach are really similar. I'm excitedly reminded about Yamato vs Shin in ES21 thread there, again our opinions are different about these two coolios, eh? :amuse

Blackbeard is a planner. Sure, his plans are hazardous and left to fate 90% of the time. Most of them backfire in many ways, but that doesn't discount that he has planned things to some degree. Been opportunistic for sure, but a plan exists.

Now, if the line is "Not time to fight the likes of you yet", this doesn't say "OH GOD I NEVER WANT TO FIGHT YOU!!!". In fact, you may interpret that it says "We'll see each other a bit later when I'm ready..." What if, like Whitebeard, Thatch, Ace and Impel Down, Blackbeard has a reason to actually fight the "likes" of Shanks in the future? That is to say: He has a plan for Shanks.

Of course it could be that Blackbeard is a weak scardey cat and that in an overconfidence resulting from his new found power he potentially overestimated his ability to take on Sengoku and Garp, but Shanks' arrival tipped the scales to a point even he could not ignore since he would open himself up to another side of the battle.

I like the idea that Blackbeard still has more plans than simply finding himself two nice fruits. And that there's some hidden emotions between Shanks and Blackbeard.

Anyway, just throwing that interpretation into it. I cannot see the line of Blackbeard simply being:
"Oh yeah I'm the shit!
Come on two of the strongest marines in the history of forever, I can take you on!
...omg is that?
...
Quick, act a bit cool...
Oh yeah, it's not time to fight the likes of you
...
I think I can escape now..."

Do you really believe that Shanks is "just" Marco-level? How come Marco obeyed so completely then? And what did Mihawk do? He acknowledge Shanks the same way BB did. They both kept their traits, yet they acknowledged that they don't want to fight against him.

It's not that Teach was afraid, or THAT of Shanks. But he acknowledged Shanks while still stayed in his fun-loving character, just like Mihawk's cool statement "I agree to engage a war against Whitebeard, but Red-Hair is outside the scope of agreement". That acknowledgement alone, that backing-off alone, AFTER considering himself as the shit even compared to The Buddha and The Fist, stated the level of Shanks.

Look at this war. It takes full struggle from the Marines and Shichi to stop one Yonkou. One. Even if "Pops is the strongest, he's the only different strongest Yonkou who dominates everyone else", if the other Yonkou weren't equal to the current Pops, there would be NEVER a balance between Yonkou. Shanks, and the two remaining Yonkou, were equal to old Whitebeard, and current Blackbeard.

Schabrak, thanks for the great rebuttals.

The prior version was the same, just without the scars. Again, why would he chose swords as his personal Jolly Roger, if he wasn't capable of using them extremely well? Especially after years of being apprentice on Rogers ship. It means that you will recognize him wielding swords -> swordsman. +[addition]: The one with the sword and scar on the left eye.
Okay, he may have extremely well skill of swordsmanship, but from what i saw in that end of the war, Shanks was definitely stronger than Mihawk. That's why swordsmanship, however well he can use it, to still NOT be Shanks' main weapon or technique or arsenal or whatever.

But only when he's acutally able to think for himself. Did you read this sentence?
The Strawhats didn't die when he threw them by his repelling force. All things shown by Kuma didn't fulfill our expectations of him, just like Kizaru who didn't move at all by actual speed of light.

By ordering eh... two/three admirals, which would double/triple their strength. Why didn't they recrute Whitebeard? How do you know they never did? It occurs to me that his and their principles weren't exactly the same. He doesn't risk other peoples lifes for his own gain, like they did in this war.
So Mihawk is a strong but dumb pawn who follows whatever orders from Marine admirals without a consideration about potential useless sacrifices?
(Marine: "Hey Hawkeye, go fight That Oldie".
Hawkeye: "Oh, okie dokie, i wanna fight someone worthy anyway")
No. To be a shichi, like Dofla said, you need to reach a certain power level. So there is a Shichi level apparently. That is a requirement from WG and Marine for a pirate to be able to pass as a Shichi. But hey, was Roger a Shichi? was WB a Shichi? Was Shanks a Shichi? No, WG and Marine can't control them. They were too powerful. They can't be controlled.

For your info: Haki isn't a fighting style.
I know. Devil Fruit or a sword is not a fighting style either.

Don't want to talk anymore, as others have answered your claims already, and it's hard to ignore the fact that your are undiscerning in accepting facts. :/
I like your arguments, Schabrak, because you seemed to be one of the most objective from Mihawk-supporters along with bittman, but what's answered? My doubts are answered by the 581st chapter. Shanks is surely stronger. If you mean answers from Mihawk-supporters even after seeing that that Hawkeye didn't accomplish anything major in this arc while Shanks shoo-ed Teach away by his challenge, though, if you mean that, those kind of answers just ensured me that the opinions in favor of Mihawk were solely aimed to put Shanks down as one-handed cripple swordsman without seeing Mihawk's concrete accomplishment nor admitting the occurences in the actual manga that boldly stated Shanks' power.

but eh öh ah.. at last :D

How do you that it isn't his main weapon or technique? There is just no answer in form of statement[source] to that question in perticular now. What speaks for it, that he wields a sword, that he clashed Whitebeard with his sword, which was followed by an outburst of power, however that might be connected to haki, stopped Akainu with a sword, where his sword was most probably infused with haki or he himself used haki to stop/disable the admirals powers[I don't want to talk about the powers of haki here, just mention them, as it occurs that he used it in those situations too.] and yeah his flag still has two swords on it. On the other side you have no source to claim, that it's not his main strength/technique. A weapon would be a sword or a gun, and so it is his main weapon. :P [Yeah there are other definitions for a weapon, just joking.]

The Strawhats didn't die when he threw them by his repelling force. All things shown by Kuma didn't fulfill our expectations of him, just like Kizaru who didn't move at all by actual speed of light.
How do we know Oda didn't want to show us exactly that? That robots/androids, however strong they are, are not capable of fighting like a real/full human. Him being reprogrammed was like de demotion, he could have lost his intuition as a human, letting him depend on his raw powers. Robocop with his own mind ftw. But that's only my asumption.
On the fact, that it didn't kill the Mugiwaras: Do you mean the one, that send them to their isles? As Luffy himself said, he didn't try to kill them there, just wanted them to be seperated, used his paw powers, so that their landing wasn't lethal. If he hadn't done so, they all would be dead.

So Mihawk is a strong but dumb pawn who follows whatever orders from Marine admirals without a consideration about potential useless sacrifices?

I don't know how you came to such conclusion. I never even thought of him being a pawn. His appearances in the Shichibukai meetings did show the exact opposite, that he only cares for his own interest. His reasons to attend are: knowing Luffy/Zorro and seeing his potential; seeking a challenge in fighting strong opponents aka Whitebeard and crew. His past confrontations with Shanks led him to his conclusion not to fight. Would he see a challenge in it, he would have done so, but he saw no gain in it and so stopped [And because they have such deep connection.

I know. Devil Fruit or a sword is not a fighting style either.
Yeah those aren't. :) But the powers of Devil Fruits can influence fighting styles, like it does with Luffy's martial arts and can create a mixture. Don't want to give it a name, would be to childish. A sword is used by different fighting styles, being sub-categories of swordmanship, like Zorros three-sword style or Brooks fencing. Thus said, using a sword to fight brutal and raw and/or using techniques with such[even raw slashes must have a his called swordmanship.

I like your arguments, Schabrak, because you seemed to be one of the most objective from Mihawk-supporters along with bittman, but what's answered? My doubts are answered by the 581st chapter. We have different definitions of what's called acomplished, what isn't exactly a bad thing, but let us diferenciate. What did he try to acomplish? My thought is that he tried to find a challenging opponent, yours seems to be to simply own somebody [strong].
He just never got to fight anybody he wanted to [for a long time]. The ones, that would be a real challenge like Marco or Jozu or Whitebeard, were taken by the admirals. Dracule doesn't seem to be a person that would take advantage of such a situation and fight somebody else two on one, so he took the only other opponent in his reach, namely Vista. And in that short clash, he did not seem to have a hard time. But the situation of the war took Vista away, before they could finish their fight. As often said, swordsman can fight for a long[er] time, even if they a not of the same strength. Later on he trialed Luffy, but got interrupted again by Daz Bones and Croc. So not being able to fight one on one for a long time doesn't speak for him being weak.

If you don't put Teachs accomplishment into the equation and that he got nothing more to gain, he did took Whitebeards powers and probably just wanted to test them out on some strong fellas like Sengoku, I wont accept your argument as a proof to anything. It's still a debate, if it was Shanks or his whole crew that changed the situation, so don't take your own opinion as fact, please. So nothing did boldly state his power, as we still haven't seen a glimpse of him fighting for real.

Wouldn't it be best to wait for a moment in the Manga, when he have seen them fight to continue the discussion ?

P.S.: Sorry couldn't answer earlier due to internet abstinence.

But those other Logia have to use their own logia elements to do so. Whitebeard can sail around the Grandline, use his powers and ravage just anything around him, even if those isles are miles away.

Kizaru may be around his league, but it would definitly cost him more energy and time.
Yeah ..., because he acknowledged that the war was over and it's the best course for the Whitebeard pirates. They had lost their aim and any further death would mean to drift away from the goal of their captain, to protect and save their crew members.

Well, Whitebeard also has limits. He failed to destroy Marineford. I think that maybe Akainu or Kizaru can destroy islands easier.

Basically. I don't see why it has anything to do with Shanks strength.

Antares, I simply can't agree with you by stating Shanks as some super one-man army. There are certain things to consider.

Each force (Im leaving Luffy completely out here) had a goal in the war:
WB Alliance -> To rescue Ace = failure
MHQ+7Gods-> To execute Ace and to kill WB = success
BB Pirates -> To take down WB and to take his fruit = success
Red-Hair Pirates -> to stop the war = success

Every force on that battlefield were exhausted, weakened and had no real goal anymore to fight for. The Marines who archived their goal were still lusting after blood. BB who got WB's fruit was even asking for more. Simply said everyone went crazy. Only after Red-Hair pirates arrival, the forces calmed down. Shanks appeared with his mighty crew (fresh and rdy to go) appealed to everyone to stop the war. No one was afraid of anyone. Everyone archived their goal, except the Whitebeard pirates, so there was no more fighting needed.

If you want to give credit to Shanks, then praise his politicial-power and influence as a Yonko, but don't put him as some mighty one-man army.

geez -- you should accept this already--
yonkous are valued by their crew doesnt mean their only strenght is their crew.they are chosen and accepted as the leader of that big mess of pirates because they are the most out-standing and powerful ones in that mess
this had to be an unquestionable fact imho >_>
True. The leader of a pirate crew is in most cases always the strongest. Surely Shanks is the strongest fighting power within the Red-Hair pirates. Congratulation.

He is a Yonko, a leader of a army which is capable of fighting the MHQ equally. While Mihawk, a Shichubukai is just a sole man. This thread is about Mwk vs SHanks in a fair 1vs1, not RH pirates vs Mihawk. So I don't rly see any relevance in the title "Yonko". That title can be only aimed with a mighty crew and a strong leader. It also puts Shanks as high tier, even if we haven't seen his fighting strength. However Mihawk with his own title "strongest swordsman" can be also automatically considered as a high-tier fighter.

I do get that Mihawk disappointed everyone on that battlefield. However Mihawk and certain other (Flamingo, Garp.. etc) are plot-wise needed for future arcs. He left the battle without scratches and without any sign of exhaustion, basically he wasn't forced to go out. Witch indicates that Oda is saving him. So don't call him off yet.

Sorry, haven't been here for a while. Lively thread :)

Fox666,

If remember well, the marines and Sengoku said something about capturing the level 6 prisoners. But that is not important.

My point is just that Sengoku was attacking Blackbeard, and if Blackbeard could he would avoid the battle he would do so, and Shanks provided the opportunity to do so.
Sengoku was attacking BB. This i agree with. But BB didn't want to avoid the battle, ever. He challenged Sengoku and Garp even after being attacked.

Well, are you saying it's just because of Shanks himself? if you think that Sengoku, the 3 Admirals, Garp and Blackbeard stopped just because of one man?

I can be wrong, but I can imagine that if Shanks said "I will go myself, my crew won't interfere" the 3 admirals would just jump over him.
It's not because Shanks himself, but imagine this: The Red-Hair Pirates challenged ALL sides, and they ALL back off. Shanks challenged BB, and BB backed off. Did you see Ben Beckmann or Yasopp or Lucky Roux challenging BB or even taunting him? No, they didn't wanna interfere their captain's command. Did that seem like BB versus Red-Hair Pirates to you? Who challenged BB? Whose voice? I don't see anyone else from his crew challenging him. Whose stare? Whose three-scar GRUDGE? If BB could inflict those three scars then, even before he got his darkness fruit, why on earth would he back off NOW, after gaining two overpowered fruits? Because Shanks development from then to this point, was still unsurpassed by Blackbeard's.

Just read my post again. You did not really oppose me. I said he loose his agility, but the Gura Gura no Mi is still strong as before.
Do you think health problems just affect agility and not anything else like, say, muscle strength, ability to recognize the surroundings, and everything else the body contains? Why exclude ability to use fruit? I really think it's affected.

He took a blank shot from Whitebeard and could still stand almost like nothing happened. That just proves he plagging for his life is pathetic, but has nothing to do with the strenght.

Also, he took an slash from Whitebeard as he did with everybody... he keep talking and them the opponent suddenly attack. And the worst case was Magellan, not Whitebeard.
In Ace's and Magellan's case, he was being hurt by the opponents' attack, and he stated so, because his defense was weak. But in Whitebeard's case, Teach was pleading for his life. This is entirely different kind of situation.

Marco did better against the 3 admirals than Whitebeard. Whitebeard is clearly stronger, but the difference is not big.
WB was fighting Kizaru and Akainu practically at the same time, and he still beaten Akainu. Marco fought only Kizaru and a vice-admiral (or an ordinary Marine?), want to help Pops, and thus got owned. I think it's quite a difference.

DutchPhoenix

yet people think he aint swordsman because he aint the nr.1 swordsman lol
Shanks is NOT the number one swordsman. Mihawk IS. But Shanks' main skill is NOT swordsmanship. That's what i state. lol. :)

BlackHair,

MHQ+7Gods-> To execute Ace and to kill WB = success
WB was killed by BB and his crew altogether.

He left the battle without scratches and without any sign of exhaustion, basically he wasn't forced to go out. Witch indicates that Oda is saving him. So don't call him off yet.
I do agree that Mihawk is the number one swordsman in the world. On the other hand, we've seen Mihawk fighting quite many times. If we haven't seen Shanks fighting for more than two seconds (one second was against WB, and another second was stopping Akainu), why considering him exclusively as a leader-only political person?

Every force on that battlefield were exhausted, weakened and had no real goal anymore to fight for. The Marines who archived their goal were still lusting after blood. BB who got WB's fruit was even asking for more. Simply said everyone went crazy. Only after Red-Hair pirates arrival, the forces calmed down. If you want to give credit to Shanks, then praise his politicial-power and influence as a Yonko, but don't put him as some mighty one-man army.
There's no proof that they didn't afraid. Backing-off supports them acknowledging Red-Hair Pirates' strength. And if one Yonkou was successful in making Marine + Shichi generate their full strength like this arc. It was a challenge that indicate nothing, if those sides wanna continue, but a second war against Red-Hair Pirates. Those responses to the challenge, after BBs taunting and Sengoku's anger towards BB and all those other things, means a Yonkou is being acknowledge for his strength. If Shanks apologize politely, it was because and after Sengoku agreed to stop the Marines from engaging any further, and leave the mournings to Red-Hair.

No, i'm not considering Shanks as one-man army, but i want to state that Shanks is the strongest in Red-Hair Pirates, and i want to state Shanks as equal to current super BB, due to BB's response.

and finally, Schabrak,

1. When Shanks arrived atop of Moby Dick, Jozu and even the Old Man himself acknowledge his Haki, but NOT his sword.

2. Chapter where Shanks was shown being able to stop three sides from fighting, making super BB retreat after Shanks challenge toward him, and making Sengoku agreed to compromise with him after the Red-Hair challenge. This showed that Shanks was stronger than Mihawk. So this was the reason that i think the sword is not Shanks' main weapon/skill/whatever.

So: Mihawk is the world number one swordsman, that's exactly why i strongly think Shanks' main skill/weapon/whatever is not a sword or his swordsmanship.

I mean from his encounter at Thriller Bark. And nevertheless, i still saw his strength as Ivankov-level, which translates to Shichibukai level. I do want him to be an end-gamer, though, but seeing this arc especially, what can i do :(

Now, this we must discuss further. My thinking for Mihawk being a (pardon this term again) Shichi-level is not just in this arc, but back from the beginning of the manga, where he was already a Shichi. Becoming a Shichi gained some immunity from the WG, but also compensate in one's agreement to do the dirty work, such as this arc. Jimbei opposed and this marked his resignation as a Shichi. I dunno if there's impeachment in the system, but if Jimbei didn't obey, wouldn't WG fire him, like how a well-structured employment - or maybe, deal- should be?
Furthermore, Dofla's "There's a certain power level to be included in Shichi" and Akainu's "You, as Shichi, should realize the difference in our power!" supports this "Shichi-level" argument of mine.

Yeah those aren't. But the powers of Devil Fruits can influence fighting styles, like it does with Luffy's martial arts and can create a mixture.
Yes, yes, i know Shanks has swordsmanship, but from my previous conclusion of premises:

If you imbue a bisento with quake + haki, can you still call it bisento fighting style? So, if you imbue an ordinary cutlass sword (again, because none seemed to give commentaries about Shanks' sword, unlike Mihawk's Black Sword which is recognized in awe by everyone) with super Haki (a different category just like quake, not muscle strength, not speed, not sword technique) that participated in cutting the skies (atmosphere, as in gas molecules?), intangible thingies, and stopping Akainu's magma fist as though the fist was solid, can you still define that as swordsmanship? I don't think it would be defined by Oda as swordsmanship anymore.

Great train of thought. First off, i never considered Mihawk as weak. I just saw Mihawk, despite his advantage-hating nature, as really strong. But if you see from Vista's side, it was Mihawk that want to adjourn the fight, and Vista agreed. I don't think Vista is Mihawk's equal, especially we haven't seen them fight each other to the death undisturbed. But then, during that fight, it was not seen that Vista is weaker. So the argument could also worked both ways. Of course, Mihawk fought Luffy before, and numerous WB pirates - and don't forget Kamabakkas :amuse - before, but didn't also Vista? What i'm saying for Mihawk is, at most, Mihawk is almost at admiral level, just like Marco.

As for Shanks, it was the whole Red-Hair Pirates that made all sides forfeit. But that alone depicts Shanks' strength as an individual. Akainu was shocked when Shanks entered (did you see Akainu shocked before anywhere, even in his fights with Whitebeard?) and Mihawk equalized him in the same sentence with Whitebeard "I agreed to warring against Whitebeard, but Red-Hair is outside the scope of agreement.", Blackbeard said "...it's not the time yet to fight the likes of you", it was my conclusion from the premises. Yes, it all and Shanks' status as a Yonkou, as Old Whitebeard's equal, just implied to me that the favor weighs to Shanks' side, not proof.

If i seem arrogant to state my argument as proof, that's because i want to oppose the opinions that made Mihawk as a super-dominant force unstoppable by all, and Shanks as a cripple that no longer worthy to fight Mihawk (even without knowing their actual past fights) and furthermore, stating their argument as proof. Thanks Schabrak, i'm also gonna wait for the actual manga development. In the mean time, is there any knowledge or debate thread you often participate in? I'd love to jump in, who knows we're gonna be on the same side that time. :amuse

I also have some time problems, so I will keep it short as possible. Just answered on the part which was directed at me. I may edit my post later to post about other parts, with what I disagree.

WB was killed by BB and his crew altogether.
I was talking about Goals. True BB did the final shot, but credits goes to HQ, for obvious reasons. Anyway, WB is dead and thus the goal of BB and HQ fulfilled.

No, you got me wrong. Shanks as a pirate is obviously a fighter. But on the battlefield he proofed his political power, not his fighting power. "Challenging" everyone was a form of negotiations. He made clear that further battle would be meaningless. Everyone agreed to that, nothing more. Talking is politic.

I mostly agree with that. But being afraid doesn't make any sense to me. Everyone accepted the sole fact that the goals were archived and that further battle would only cost human life's and resources. Especially since a new fresh and formidable force had appeared.

It's true that a Yonko is acknowledged for his strength. I never said sth different. But then again a Yonko (pirate crew) fights his/her battles as a army. Here in this thread we are talking about a fair fight between Mwk and Shanks. So I honestly don't see a point in the title Yonko.

No, i'm not considering Shanks as one-man army, but i want to state that Shanks is the strongest in Red-Hair Pirates, and i want to state Shanks as equal to current super BB, due to BB's response.
Wehter Shanks is stronger than BB or weaker can't be conlcuded on merely that. Put urself in BB's position: He had Garp and Sengoku on his ass. Now if another hight-tier beast as Shanks, who is fresh without damage would challenge you, what would you do? Backing off was the best solution, coz it was NOT only Shanks.

The way I see it, BB calmed down after Shanks arrival. But was he afraid of Shanks? Most likely not. We are talking about BB, who keeps talking about fate and luck. If anything, he saw the circumstances in which he was in and acted according to that.

I would give the edge of being a swordsman to Mihawk. So, as who would win in a fight it's also Mihawk, for now. When Shanks asked Mihawk if he'd like to challenge him, it leads me to believe that their fight is still unsettled. Since Shanks lost an arm as a swordsman Mihawk is probably better now, hence the title strongest swordsman. However, it was also stated that Shanks losing an arm didn't make him any weaker (overall as a character?). So, he is more than a swordsman. Perhaps he has science, DF or magic to give him an edge in the future. But for now I would give it to Mihawk.

Some things I would like to point out in this topic:

First, it seems people get the result of Marineford war VERY wrong:
- Shanks wasn't alone, he did not challenge the marines to fight him, but his crew.
- Mihawk wasn't scared of Shanks.
- Marco wasn't scared of Shanks.
- Blackbeard wasn't scared of Shanks.

I could put a lot of arguments about it, but it's simply enough.

Second, about Whitebeard and Shanks clash, I will try to explain the easier way possible:

This is Whitebeard power

This is not Whitebeard power

So this not mean that Shanks is equal to Whitebeard

Edit: forget Mihawk

No support post related to Mihawk at all?

The answers to whether BB was scared of Shanks was yes. He was scared. There's no use repeating myself over since i promised Schabrak i would wait for actual fight. I'll only state what i haven't in this final post of mine.

Zoro aims to surpass Mihawk and becomes the no.1 swordsman in the world. Strawhat Luffy aims to surpass Shanks and becomes the pirate king. A simple comparison, which supports my argument that Mihawk to Zoro is Shanks to Luffy.

to put it simply, there was WB pirate (+ ally) vs Marines. Then, there were BB pirate vs WB (personal), while WB pirates were still vs Marines. After BB pirats killed WB (personal), BB became a mofo. He challenged everyone and threatened to sink Marineford, so Sengoku's focus was on BB. BB vs Sengoku - Garp. Meanwhile the admirals were still busy pursuing Luffy, which translated to Admirals (+ Shichis) vs WB pirates (+ ally). While this intersecting wars and personal fights continues, Red-Hair pirates told all sides to stop. They then challenged everyone, especially Shanks challenged BB. And as the result of the challenge, the war ended.

Let's keep it simple. WB pirates + ally had only maximum 5 individuals at Shichi level. Marco, Jozu, Vista, Jimbei, Crocodile. They also had 1 last-tier level individual, which was WB.

In the Red-Hair pirates' challenge vs everyone situation, how many Red-Hair pirates who were Shichi level at most? Ben Beckmann, Yasopp, Lucky Roux? 3-5, maybe? There can't be much more than WB's commanders (Marco, Jozu, Vista). How would everyone stop engaging in this war? In the opposite there were

Wounded fatally to incapacitated or dead:
-Luffy
-Ace
-Jozu
-Jimbei
-a portion of WB commanders
-a portion of non-fodder WB allies
-a portion of non-fodder marines (including vice admiral ronse and giant john)

Wounded moderately or heavily but can still fight:
-Super BB (who keep his cool and optimistic belief that he could eliminate Sengoku and Garp anyway and NO ONE could stop him)
-Akainu
-Marco
-Moria
-a portion of WB commanders
-a portion of non-fodder WB allies
-a portion of non-fodder marines (including most vice admirals)

Wounded mildly to unscratched:
-Sengoku
-Garp
-Kizaru
-Aokiji
-most of Pacifistas (of how many? TWENTY? THIRTY? And one pacifista equals what, level 5 impel down prisoner?)
-Mihawk
-Doflamingo
-Kuma
-Sentoumaru
-a portion of WB commanders
-a portion of non-fodder marines
-a portion of vice admirals

Two last-tier characters from the marines were practically unsctratched, and one more last-tier character who was wounded (super BB), still believed he could take those two unscratched last-tier characters, because of his new-found power. However "fresh and ready to go" Red-Hair pirates were, they were suicidal to challenge this magnitude of power culmination. Even one more Marco-level character in Red-Hair pirates (if Shanks was Marco's tier) would not matter at all. At all.The only factor the Red-Hair pirates could rely on to be confident in challenging all sides, is that if there would be at least one person, like WB who was the most reliable in WB pirates, who could match equally those three last-tier and tens of Shichibukai level opponents.

I'll repeat this obvious point again: Red-Hair pirates told all sides to stop. They then challenged everyone, especially Shanks challenged BB. And as the result of the challenge, the war ended.

No matter which way, whether it's Shanks that stopped the war or Red-Hair Pirates that stopped the war, it meant Shanks as an individual was equal to current BB. Which meant Shanks was little bit stronger than Mihawk. Which meant Shanks main weapon or skill or whatever isn't his sword or swordsmanship.

Whitebeard failed fighting the admirals. On the other hand, his subordinates did good.

Like before Im disagreeing again. Due to personal disinterest to OP's current plot progress, I don't want to spend much time on this.

I'll repeat this obvious point again: Red-Hair pirates told all sides to stop. They then challenged everyone, especially Shanks challenged BB. And as the result of the challenge, the war ended.
Obvious? It is obvious to me that everyone except Shanks (+crew) were exhausted, wounded and more. In their current state they would suffer huge losses against a another Yonko crew.

What do you mean by "no matter which way"?! ...
Do you honestly expect major forces like MHQ (Sengoku), WB Alliance (Marco) and BB Pirates (BB) would listen to Shanks words if he was a SOLE man? Can't you see his freaking crew behind his back?

We know that forces fights their battles in armies, we also know that there is a army standing behind Shanks back, yet you are stating Shanks as single individual?! Can't you see how flawed ur whole logic is?

Again why Shanks > Mihawk? Shanks => BB? I don't understand ur reasoning.
Didn't you read the WBvsWG arc? A war is chaotic, which means a 1vs1 is hardly possible. Shanks challenging BB and he backing off means nothing. This is a war, not 1vs1 tournament. Means there are several other ppl who would fight BB, especially after provoking Sengoku and Garp. So I ask you again, what would you do if several high tier fighter would target you?

Also plz note, even if Shanks was the one who challenged everyone, he spoke in behave of his whole crew. Shanks own words: "we will face you".

Zoro aims to surpass Mihawk and becomes the no.1 swordsman in the world. Strawhat Luffy aims to surpass Shanks and becomes the pirate king. A simple comparison, which supports my argument that Mihawk to Zoro is Shanks to Luffy..
I dont see a comparison in this. While Mihawk stands on the top among swordsman, Shanks does not stand on the top among pirates.

btw I can't remember Oda saying that Shanks wants to be the PK. So not sure why you did include Shanks in the first place.

No support post related to Mihawk at all?
So which part of ur post is indicating Shanks > Mihawk?

Mihawk is the strongest swordsman, means in the current timeline he can beat any other swordsman in a fair 1vs1. If you want to prove Shanks superiority then try to prove that he is NOT a swordsman. Keep in mind that Oda is portraying him almost in every occasion with a sword.

Last but not least, Shanks appearing on the war didn't proofed anything towards his superiority to Mihawk. If anything then plz note that he again pulled his sword. Which only supports the theory that he is a swordsman, means weaker than Mihawk.

I for one think that shanks has changed his fighting style after he lost his arm. But i dont have an idea how he fights now. even though it probably has something to do with his haki, cus we've
got a lot of hints that he he has a strong haki maybe it's even haoushoku haki.

That's your thought, but what's your argument in this confrontation? Whom are you siding with?

And for your information: Shanks has Hakusho Haki.

what if someone stronger than mihawk picked up a sword and started useing it in all their fights, would they become the new worlds strongest swordsmen? i think its just a title and if someone beats him in a sword fight, they take it. shanks hasnt fought mihawk in ages so he has had no chance to take it nor does he desire too. so saying shanks is a swordsman and therefore weaker to mihawk is bad argument imo.

I suppose that saying that Shanks is not a swordman just because Mihawk holds the title of the strongest swordman is a "bad argument"...
