Even translated the ending is atrocious. No way this is the same dude that gave us shiganshima.

The Slogan of " Everyone is Free " is nowhere to be found at the end of this series................wonder how many time Isayama had changes the ending by his own........
Just hope that Season 4 part 2 will just end at the Rumbling section....as this kind of ending will 1000% ruined the legacy of the anime itself!!!! And yes, this ending do Sucks!!!!
Well, at least I won't send out life threating letter, but to witness such great series to have a lousy ending that will eventually hurt its reputation is painful.......
I guess we are are hoping too much for SNK to be the greatest anime of all time, end out it also have flaws like other. However SNK is worst as it's bad part is it ending, sad!!!!!

The ending does seem somewhat underwhelming but I’ll wait for the full translation to see whether or not people are exaggerating over the ending.

Hard to imagine this series having an ending as bad as Naruto, fairy tail or SDS.

Damn, am I the only one wishing Isayama could have ended it with Eren showing up on that hill to greet Mikasa? Would have been better than that fucking bird

Okay... I was looking at the ending again and the part where Eren is explaining everything to Armin is actually very interesting.

It's not thaaaat bad. Really.

Weirdest parts of the chapter for me are definitely Armin thanking Eren for committing mass genocide & Eren’s confession for Mikasa.

I actually had an easier time believing Sasuke was in love with Sakura than Eren being so in love with Mikasa. I can’t think of many moments where it (their romance) felt sold, it’s honestly easier for me to believe he hates her.

I think the chapter felt hollow for me because of how everybody treated Eren like a hero. He wiped out 80% of the population & they’re all thanking him and saying “what a guy” he is. It just feels out of character for a lot of them.

Eren & Historia towards the end felt more like tools/devices for the plot than actual characters by the end in a lot of points & that’s another thing that made this feel a little empty. I feel like the positive ending felt a little forced.

that being said, the chapter was fine. I expected AoT’s ending to make me feel more than this but it was okay I guess.

I really don't want to be negative in the finale of this series, but it's so damn hard not to lmao.

I was just hoping it won't be some hippy shit of "we all learned to get along and happily lived after!". But I suppose it is so!!

Anyway, irrespective of what happened in the last few chapters, the first 80-90% of the series was greatness IMO, nothing can change that. I suppose I can be happy with that lol. Considering just the anime alone so far, from season 1 to current episode, was one of the best I've seen. I'll just stop watching once the nonsense "alliance" is formed.

After all Eren said and did, on the basis on purely understanding of reality and self preservation, this was just.....sigh.

As for Armin vs Erwin for colossal titan, ehh. It was just Eren's bias lol. Eren probably didn't start seeing the future/past in a somewhat coherent way until towards the end of season 3
It wasn't just bias, in the end. Armin really is who Eren choose to save the world.

They remember him like this because in the end they gave them their memories back. They know that he became the bad guy to transform the demons into saviours and heroes.

Yes I understand that, it’s stated in the chapter but I have a hard time believing that all of them would just accept Eren taking out 80% of the population so they can be seen as heroes.

They were willing to die saving all those innocent people, so why would they now celebrate Eren’s plan when they are alive and majority of the population are gone? It just feels contradictory to what they believed they were fighting for in the first place.

Highly doubt anime is going to change the ending since from the start they’ve been following exactly how the manga went. Sad that in the end Mikasa stuck on that island all alone living a lone lifestyle. DAMN YOU ISAYAMA!

The thing is, they know that was a necessary sacrifice unless they wanted to world to end completely. Let's all be honest here, Eren only died in the end because he wanted to. The neck explosion, Mikasa freely waltzing inside the mouth to kill the founder, levi blasting the mouth to open a way. He could've stopped all those actions easy. Historia even says that "eren might've been right", she doesn't say he was totally right.

Even the clown alliance kind of make more sense now. In the end, both demons and honorary-marleians were the ones to save the world from the rumbling and destroyed the titan's curse.

Maybe we are unhappy because we thought Eren deserved a happy ending, even he wanted a happy ending for himself. But he knew that nobody else would take the role of scapegoat to save the world.

Yea, but that was future Eren? The 14 year old Eren who chose Armin over Erwin was acting purely on his emotions. Fuck this shit, all this "attack titan can control past and future" is making things un-necessarily complex. Not really a fan of this time travel nonsense.

The Lelouch 2.0 ending is lazy AF and completely unrealistic too. Eren himself understood the grim reality of their world, and came to the realistic conclusion to secure their existence, which he backtracked for a pipedream of Lelouch 2.0? Yeaa, no.
I've explained my view on this in a previous post, quoted below:
Just basing off the spoilers mentioned here. Maybe all this is wrong and I'll look like an idiot when the chapter comes out. Taking that risk, let me start.

This is what some people here, including myself, have been saying for a while.

This is the reality of their world, in the setting shown to us by/post Will Tybur.

There is no magical "we live together peacefully, hunky dory" after everything that has happened over generations so far, especially the rumble. The plot that was set in motion generations ago, which lead to rumbling at this point, cannot be stopped by some 'epiphany'. Completely ridiculous to think that it could happen globally.

This is why we were against the Paradis traitors within the alliance. What exactly did they accomplish? To have a sword hanging over the heads of everyone in the island perpetually? They might have doomed the very existence of their future generations

Yea, titan powers maybe done (I REALLY hope there is some proper explanation for this). But the rest of the world knows which people was responsible for rumble, who had the ability to turn into titans etc. There will always be suspicion whether they would turn back to titans again. And so on.
The natural culmination is either the extinction of Paradis people, or everyone else. In the setting Issayama gave us. Maybe a more pleasant culmination could've been plausible, if the rest of the world were split near evenly in their plans for Paradis.
But, the UN of their world pretty much declared war on Paradis with the intention of genocide. And, I believe it was mentioned that the rest of the world treated Eldians worse than Marleyans did as well. In this setting, I see no other way.

Also, if Eren = Lelouch 2.0 is true. SIIGHH. WHY

Am I the only one that feels the ending is alright and that everyone is overreacting. Like honestly I feel bad for people who had there whole experience ruined over this. Then again I have heard people complaining a lot before this ending becaue “bEsT bOi eREn dEaD kILl gAbI” and the only thing I see people angry over is eren not getting the world thrown at him and “mUh mAsSacRE” and the fact that everything isn’t 100% peaceful. Honestly this is a realistic ending and goes well with the plot. Again I am not saying it is perfect, far from it. And honestly it is far from ideal as I would’ve rather the time loop and requiem ending.

But it isn’t GOT or bleach level. The ending makes perfect sense, just it isn’t ideal. And yes I get it, AOT isn’t your average shonen so ofc an average ending would put a more bitter taste in your mouth then say a NNT or Kimetsu no Yaiba. But even then the ending could have been a whole lot worse. But hey these are just my thoughts, this series is still a masterpiece imo and will always a special place in my heart.

I didn't think the ending was bad either after a second reading, but I do believe it could have been much more for a story of this magnitude. The story's conclusion does make sense and I never expected the whole world to be eliminated (though a good chunk of it did, so in a way the status quo was maintained), but like I stated before I was hoping for a bigger payoff to some of the main plot points. Perhaps Isayama should have spent less time with the pregnancy part as I don't see what it contributed to the story, and more with the other characters, especially so Eren's love for Mikasa would have felt more believable, but that's just me. A fine ending overall and it doesn't bring down the quality of the series, but I was expecting it to pack a bigger emotional punch.

The ending is not bad, and not good either. It would've have been better with Eren wiping out the whole world, removes the memory of Eldians about what happened. Kill all the shifters and keep all of 9 shifter powers and goes into hiding and live secretly as a titan king or some shit.

Now all we've been reading is the story of Eren who had to go through the worst hell (Had to do the massacre so the childish alliance can become heroes, had to see his mom getting eaten by a titan with his own eyes as a child, had to distance himself with his loved ones). Poor Eren.

About Gabi, I always hated that little psycho. But how the heck she turns out to be a beauty. Now I feel pretty Ok for good boy falco.

What a disappointing ending to a masterpiece manga.

1)Final battle happens and not a single alliance member dies apart from Hange or Magath. What was even the need for deaths if everyone else were going to survive.Heck even minor battles in AOT had so many characters dying and in the biggest battle of all not a single important character dies.Ridiculous.

2)The manga itself had an inconclusive ending.Eren made the situation literally worse by killing 80% of the world population and the potential for future conflict heavily remaining. This is why i never liked the Rumbling route, would have preferred if Alternate universe route like Muv Luv happened where at least the conflict finally ends.

3)Historia's pregnancy was made unnecessarily mysterious if Eren was not the father. And what was even the role of her baby in the plot?It would have been better if she joined the final battle instead of being sidelined like this.

4)Most characters were butchered in the end,Eren being turned into a generic villain and is the instigator of his own mother's death,Eren being in love with Mikasa when in the manga he never really showed any romantic attraction for Mikasa and it was a rushed development,Ymir Fritz falling in love with the person who constantly tortured her throughout her life,Jean joking with the person who killed his best friend.

5)What was the need for them being turned into Titans if they were going to be instantly returned to human form next chapter, final panel not being final panel anymore,Common enemy trope like Code Geass when it doesn't fit in this manga etc. etc.

I have never been this sad by an ending since GOT Season 8.The manga ended for me after chapter 131.This is no more one of my favourite manga.7/10 overall score, would have given even lower score had it been not for the excellent writing before.Goodbye AOT.I enjoyed discussing this manga with you all before. It was really fun.Goodbye Attack on Titan.

8 years ago I came to this forums for the first time. Shingeki was the first manga I've ever read and I joined this community only to discuss and read snk theories. I don't participate in any other forum than this one about snk.

I was marveled at the mistery I was unveiling while reading and I was craving for other's people perspectives and theories. I was amazed at how much insight, ingenuity and sensitivity I saw, even in diverse and opposing opinions while being here. Having my imagination stimulated by everyone's comments brought joy to my life even in the heated fun of disagreement.

Now that snk has ended I have no other purpose here other than to say that I enjoyed the chapter thoroughly. Even though it was a happy ending, was still one aware of problematicity. I'm glad the metaphysical aspect remains unexplained, because we, real humans, have that relationship with trascendence: mistery. However, we collide existentially with that trascendence through death and ignorance, and remain faithful to life and out of resentment by its influence. It seems that snk characters also have that: they really can't explain everything, but still have to experience it while hoping for the better.

After all of this amazing ride with you guys, It is only fitting to say...
Thank you all

Dearly,
Gabriel
