Yeah well, from what I hear is that him and Randy Lerner had a disagreement on the direction the club was going and he didn't want to be a part of that. It's a great shame because he really was onto something potentially huge at Villa; really good english players coming through the ranks and they were becoming consistent and challengers to break into top 4.

Interesting developments in Europe this week:

- Young Boys 3 - 2 Tottenham ~ Rednapp screws around with formations too much imo. The Spurs defence was a disgrace.

-Ozil signs for Real Madrid lol. (I really don't know what Utd are going to do this season. We're in deep doo doo. We need midfielders!!!!)

- Nicolas Anelka given 18-match France suspension :eek

- Mancini is officially a baka. ~ 100 million spending spree isn't enough!? How many bloody attacking players do they need? :faint Craig Bellamy moves to Cardiff City! Didn't see that coming. :o

Didn't see the game, but the result was a surprise to me

imho, Utd is still strong, chacharito is a nice player, Arsenal is the same as last season with the youngings and Chelsea's also strong, probably the stronger of them.
Seems like chelsea's accepting to pay 35m euros to Santos and get Neymar. However, Mano ( Brasil's new coach ), Pele, Bebeto and others are saying that he shouldn't.
Maybe it's best for him to play a little more time here, since he'll likely bench-warm for chelsea quite a bit.

- Nicolas Anelka given 18-match France suspension :eek

Too little, he should be banned for life =b ( though I don't see any coach calling him after what happened )

- Mancini is officially a baka. ~ 100 million spending spree isn't enough!? How many bloody attacking players do they need? :faint Craig Bellamy moves to Cardiff City! Didn't see that coming. :o
Agree with that :p Seems like they'd rather buy all the good attackers in the world than make a solid defense so they won't take goals :XD
Reply inside the quote :P

I watched the Spurs match and as an Arsenal I really enjoyed it :D. It could have and should have been much worse for Totenham, lucky for them Young Boys weren't too clinical in front of goal. Though Spurs did good to reduce the deficit and should win at White Hart Lane barring another formation meltdown.

I heard about the Neymar deal this morning, that Brazil legends are advising him to stay and I agree that he should too. He's very young, and should play in Brazil for at least another year and get more first team experience and see hoe he feels at the end of the season.

Anelka getting an 18 match ban was jokes but he doesn't care because he announced his retirement after leaving the World Cup and returning to London. It's not big deal for him and plus he's ridiculed the French Federation I heard.

About Neymar, tonight he said no to Chelsea.

I'm not a Santos's fan but I'm really glad that boy will stay in Brasil. I get disappointed when our promises goes to Europe so early.

Plus, I don't like Chelsea. Bonus.
Suck that, Chelsea!

Yeah suck that Chelsea!!!

And Mario Balotelli scored on his debut for Man City; I didn't watch the match or seen the goal but whatever...

And James Milner has finally join City too, with Steven Ireland going to Villa in a player + cash deal.

This thread has been lacking some love. So here goes
Best goal of the week imo this gem by Inzaghi. And the best pass is this by a le harve player. Later today the CL group stages will be drawn, hopefully it will tasty (and easy for Arsenal).

My god, never mind the awesome goal by Pipo but that pass was pure awesome; even Ronaldinho would be jealous :lmao

Champions League draw later today, I hope it is indeed easy for Arsenal, but it's tricky cos Real Madrid are in pot 2 so we could get them.

Here are the pot for the draw:

Pot one: Inter Milan, Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Lyon.

Pot two: Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Valencia, Marseille, Panathinaikos.

Pot three: Tottenham, Rangers, Ajax, Schalke, Basle, Braga, FC Copenhagen, Spartak Moscow.

Pot four: Hapoel Tel Aviv, FC Twente, Rubin Kazan, Auxerre, CFR Cluj, Partizan Belgrade, MSK Zilina, Bursaspor.

Group G is the standout group this year. Arsenal got an okay-ish group and SHOULD qualify without too many hiccups and in 1st place...

Interesting groups this year. Shall we take a look?

Group A
Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, Tottenham, FC Twente

Group B
Lyon, Benfica, Schalke, Hapoel Tel-Aviv

Group C
Manchester United, Valencia, Rangers, Bursaspor

Group D
Barcelona, Panathinaikos, FC Copenhagen, Rubin Kazan

Group E
Bayern Munich, AS Roma, Basel, CFR Cluj

Group F
Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, Zilina

Group G
AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre

Group H
Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga, Partizan Belgrade

Yes. Spurs did well against Young Boys yesterday evening however, they've been placed in quite a tricky group imo. It's going to be tough to get points from Bremen & Twente. *Fact: McClaren managed Twente last year and now his at Bremen lol. I can't wait for those two teams to play each other. :tem

Rafa's managing Inter these days so I have no hope for them anymore. :(

Arsenal have it easy. RM will go through to the next round. Barcelona will be going on a cruise. Utd are f-k'd imho. They need to bring in experience players. Seriously. :( They can't rely on Scholes for the whole season.

Edit: Opps. I think McClaren actually went to Wolfsburg!? :darn

Madrid have got it hard this time round, that's a death group with Auxerre being the dark horses; hopefully they can cause a few upsets. Spurs have a tight group too, it'll be really hard for them to qualify but good luck to them.

@buggy: yeah McLaren is at Wolfsburg now...

Harry Redknapp is not a wheeler dealer. Hahaha. Anyway if there is anybody into football podcast check out Football weekly if you already don't. It really is the best podcast ever!

Mascherano is Barcelona player, while Zlatan went on loan to Milan. Im going say this right, Barcelona's transfer dealings of 09 has to be the absolute worst transfer dealing by a single club this decade. Everything was flop. That russian dude that they got for 25 million has been sold back, Kerrison floped out on loan and is now on loan in Brazil. Ibrahimovic was a flop at Barca as well, simply because of what was paid for him and how quickly he was disposed of.

"f**k *** I'm a football manager" like a lil kid hahaha. :lmao

I agree with you about the 09' transfers. I don't have a clue what Barca were thinking when they traded E'to and something like 30 million euros for Zlatan haha! That was funny at the time. Inter got a great deal.

Barca's midfield is so damn strong now. La Liga this season is going to be very exciting to watch imo.

It's gonna be interesting to see who slips up where in La Liga and whether or not the other team wins the league. I hope Barca retain the championship and show Madrid that all the millions the spend every seasons means shit if you can't get the team to perform, though I really love Mourinho :headscratch, conflict of interest...

I don't understand the hype behind Mascherano; yes he's a good player but Xabi Alonso is better, maybe not the same type of player, but he aint never really convinced me since I've been hearing about him.

I was under the impression eto was desperate to leave barca, he did not want to know about staying there. I would think barca would know better than to keep a player who does not want to play. I could be wrong though.

No, Eto'o wanted to stay but from what I can remember there was problems with him and the higher-ups or whatever. It was the worst transfer deal I have ever seen, especially coming from a club with that much money and of that stature where their reps should know better...

The Inter president must have been dancing around his office thinking it was Christmas :lmao
