Dude, Mancity actually payed 26million pounds plus a player of a higher calibre for James Milner. In contrast Portugal wanting Maradona actually seems sane. =/

Well, at least the guy they bought has 2 legs, two arms and is healthy. MARADONA DOES NOT HAVE BRAINCELLS, he sunk them all under the weight of his huge ego into a sea of cocaine and alcohol in his youth. So which is worst? Having a brainless guy be the strategist of the team or the absurd situation you describe? Man City have gotten caught in the trap Chelsea used to fall into. Because clubs know City have money they hold out for more than they would probably get otherwise. On the other hand look at Spurs getting Van der Vaart for a third of what City paid for Milner.Well, at least the guy they bought has 2 legs, two arms and is healthy. The problem with Maradona is he has no plan B. They'd be better off getting Sven in. Hence why Argentina got raped even worse than England did against Germany. Argentina looked better than they were because they got drawn against 1) Nigeria: A team of old men. 2) South Korea: The second best of a poor group. If Nigeria had been paying attention SK would have gone out in the group stage. 3) Greece: With only one (tainted) win in their world cup finals history this was never going to happen. I'm surprised it was only 2-0. 4) Mexico: They got lucky with several decisions in this match. Very lucky. The signs are there. Portugal haven't even got that great a squad. A group of individually talented players yes, but not a squad capable of winning major honours. From what I heard, maradona didn't even pass the coach test, got the title due to being maradona. I know portugal knows what they are getting into (at least, we assume they do) but that still does not justify the inherent stupidity of what they are doing. On another note, I do think maradona would be a decent coach assistant. Surprisingly, even though argentina was about as functional as a 70 year old rusty car, they were unquestionably a very united team; there was a lot of camaraderie there. If maradona could do that for another team while at the same time having a good coach (who'd ignore each and maradona's every thought involving tactics and whatnot) then you could perhaps get a good combination. Of course, we are talking about maradona (who acts as if he still was the best player of the world rather than a retired former best player) so it is unlikely he would accept such a thing.
For the umpteenth time in my lifetime. Meh. Funny how when both mangers thought the tie was in danger they brought out the big guns. So much for it being a hinderance.Spurs lost against Arsenal in ET.![]()
Everton have been in serious trouble ever since Howard Kendal left the first time round. It's just sheer luck and the fact that there always seems to be 7 or 8 teams worse than them every season that's kept them from getting relegated over the last 20 years (94 and 95 especially). Moyes has just held back the rot by somehow getting Everton to overperform.Everton are in serious trouble this season. I think Moyes will be managing somewhere else next year tbh. The guy deserves a better shot/role at another club imo.

I've been impressed by him. He works hard for the team rather than waiting for others to set him up all the time.I would like to hear (read?) some opinions on Tévez, preferably from the english gentlemen.
It is a real shame they couldnt hold onto their generation, because it would have been sensational. And after todays result you probably love him some more. What is it about the Dutch in general and Ajax in particular that creates all these wonderful players?

Gentleman?I would like to hear (read?) some opinions on Tévez, preferably from the english gentlemen.
Tevez i think is very good although he is always been overshadowed for the past couple of seasons. At united Rooney and Ronaldo were there. Argentina, Messi. At city he is finally the main figure and the main threat so i suppose its no surprise he's begun scoring like he was in his Corinthian days were i assume he was the main player(?). Having said that, he doesnt get incredibly plaudits which will change if City get into the CL and he continues his scoring record. I was heading to London, ironically it was a fly emirates flight.Where were you heading? haha must've been funny....for everybody else.
Ouch. It's at Stamford Bridge. Not looking good at the mo. Seriously, Wenger needs to bring in some experienced players but it's way too late for them now. It'll be another trophy-less season. That goes for Utd as well imho. D: Carling Cup maybe?
In my opinion the problem is not experience. There is enough of a balance of young players and experienced players. Van persie, Arshavin, Fabregas, Sagna etc you can harldy say they're not experienced. The major concerns are threefold, injuries, defence and the mentality (which is related to your point about "steel"). The mentality of some players is horrible. Denilson and Diaby are two prime examples that suffer from collective lapses of concentration. They cannot focus for 90 minutes, its beyond them. I can bring countless examples of players ghosting past them as they simply stand and watch. Or crosses coming in and they're not focusing on the player or the ball. Or misplacing passes because they are not concentrating on who they are giving the ball too. Its gets incredibly annoying, and its down to the coach to fix it. Others have other problems, Clichy for example tends to panic when things are not going well. If the team is playing badly he plays even worse, he begins letting people go past etc. Thats also related to the general problem we have in defence. Almunia, god help him, has a similar more exasperating problem. If he makes the smallest of mistakes, there is no going back, he will begin to crumble. There is more but lets leave at that.Wenger's problem? Adding steel and experience to his young side might be admitting that he was wrong in trusting them to move Arsenal on. Plus because of their wage structure they seem to be limited in who they can bring in. Why go to Arsenal when Chelsea, Man U and City can offer more?
It's a testament to Wenger that he's kept Arsenal in the top 4 all this time. You could have had worse in defence *cough*Docherty, Garndener & Richards*ahem*. And at least you're not Liverpool. In my opinion the problem is not experience. There is enough of a balance of young players and experienced players. The mentalitly problem of the team also leads to the general problem with our defence. Almunia and clichy are vulnerable mentally, if the chips are down they are going to make mistakes. And its up to the other three to help them out, but the problem is that for the past two seasons only one of CB's has been at playing at a very high level while the other was being bailed out. Two seasons ago, it was Toure was playing very badly and Gallas was keeping the defence together (which was evident when he got injured, we fell apart and started conceding ridiculously that season). Last season it was the other way around, Gallas who was beginning to lose some pace was starting to make mistakes (although not like toure) as Vermaelen held the fort. This season we'll see how whoever partners (both their names are hard to spell off my head, im not going to try >.>) Vermaelen performs but im sure it will continue. So we had two mentally vulnerable players, one CB who plays badly which leaves only two players who are consistently playing at a high level. Which means if we're down by a goal or two we are most likely not going to catch up but lose by more as they continue to crumble. (Barca 4-1, Chelsea recently, United 3-1 CL etc).
Also add to the fact that we have a stupid host of injuries. We end up being unpredictable, defensively awful and generally "close but not yet there".
I heard Krasic and Del Piero and co. have been sharpening their blades =3Touché, this is getting as hilarious as the Spurs in 08/09. There is not much hope for them as long as hodgson is in charge. And its quite amusing as well, for all the talk of Gerrard and Torres being the most important persons for them, i doubt they would have collapsed in the same vein if they left instead of Alonso or Benitez (who's importance is beginning to really emerge)(Yes, I know it's early days but its still a beautiful sight).
Its between that or watching(hoping) Madrid mess up. =/Who's looking forward to the massacre of Inter in (on?) their own farm?I heard Krasic and Del Piero and co. have been sharpening their blades =3
