This scene is insane. The refs aren't even bothering to talk to the teams...they all want to continue

Now there are rumors that they'll continue it right where they left off tomorrow? :blink

Holy shit, they're restarting it now :rofl

And Spain has been disappointing in these qualifiers as it had been on euro. I honestly don't see anybody taking this world cup from germany.

I just turned it on, Gary, and this is hilarious.

It's a good thing the ball is yellow...but they'd be better off with orange :rofl

I'm surprised when the ref paused the match that the Costa Rican players were arguing to continue. I'd protest the results of this match if I was them.

This match should've been stopped already, but before that, it should never have been held.

Then again, FIFA also sold out to Qatari businessmen to allow the 2022 WC to be in Qatar, but because it can apparently reach upwards of 120 F in the summer, now people want to have it played in the previous winter, so it would be the Winter 2021/22 WC.

I don't think it should have been stopped, but I agree with your second thought. It should have been rescheduled...but with all the conflicts in scheduling and that we're playing Mexico on Tuesday, it was quite a mess. But there's no reason why anyone should have okayed a match being playing in March in Denver. It's just common sense.

Why did you have to bring that up again? :bored

We know FIFA lacks common sense, however. Due to some idiotic rule about one of the linesmen seeing the tackle on Haidara, but doing nothing about it, it means that Callum McManaman can't be retrospectively punished.

FIFA's corrupt? :shiraishi

I think these types of scheduling snafus are the fault of CONCACAF, not FIFA. But who cares, meh

The US holds on 1-0 in a very questionable match. It never should've been played here.

They didn't have a choice really after they started it. Supposedly the conditions were only going to get worse tomorrow, so I don't know.

Why was Denver chosen? I'm pretty sure Fifa doesnt tell the countries where to play unless its dangerous to players health (looking at you south america). Seriously the US should just chose RFK as a national stadium and be done with it.

Actually, Mile High Stadium can be dangerous to player health. An NFL player, Ryan Clark, can't play there because of a rare blood disorder he has.

What would be wrong with using Candlestick Park or something? Better yet, what about a dome stadium? There are good number of domes.

LOL, no....RFK isn't soccer-specific and it's a dump. The idea is probably to promote the sport more by holding the matches at different MLS venues. And because of that, someone should have at least suggested the idea that Denver in March is just a bad idea.

The other two venues for the remaining qualifying will be held in Seattle, Columbus, and Kansas City, though they're played in June and September. Any would have been better choices, but the safest would have been Seattle. It can snow in March in Columbus and Kansas City...but not in Seattle.

I think he meant in other ways... and Ryan Clark doesn't play there anymore because he has sickle cell anemia and had to have his spleen and gall-bladder removed after a game.

Candlestick is another dump, and they're demolishing it anyway. If you're going to make the American version of Wembley, or the Stade de France it has to be soccer-specific. Most of the top international teams in Europe don't even have home stadiums, so it's not like moving around is anything uncommon.

That many problems to pick a decent stadium?

Come on, AMERICA!

Yeah, I know he meant in other ways.

As I mentioned, it was a rare issue, but altitude can be a problem.

They're demolishing Candlestick? I was unaware of that.

Well, while a lot of them don't have home stadiums, per se, they often do play in one stadium. Spain, for example, usually plays at the Bernabeu. Germany does move all around. They've played in Bremen, in Gelsenkirchen, in Dortmund, in Munich, and I'm sure other places as well.

Going forward, until it's attractive for young Americans to play football over other sports, we're never going to succeed. The best athletes in other countries play football, but in America, they all play basketball, American football, or baseball. Hockey doesn't exist.

They could pick any number of them. But why would they when they could play at any number of venues? Germany, Italy, and Spaiin all do the same thing.

Hockey is a regional thing. Other than that, the NHL is made up of Canadians and Europeans.

Soccer is at an all-time high in popularity, it's heavy sledding but it's still something.

Well, playing at multiple venues does bring the national team to different areas of the country, which is a positive.

Yeah, and that's why I said that it doesn't exist. The talent pool of Americans that it's drawing from isn't nearly as large as the other three major sports draw from.

An all time high in popularity in the US still isn't that high. It's better that things have been improving and that it's getting more popular, but we're still not there yet. We don't have a true star or anything. In every one of the top countries in the world, there's a least one player you can point to and say that they're a game changer, but you can't say that about a single American.

Why aren't most people giving Brazil a real chance in the Rio 2014? Well, can you name me a single player who can really take the match by storm and win it for them? No. Neymar's an overrated, overhyped hack. Oscar gets pushed off the ball too easily. Ronaldinho is too old. Their best striker is Fred. Hulk is hit and miss. I don't know where Leandro Damiao even is right now.

Neymar ain't overrated, otherwise... where's he playing right now, in Real Madrid? No, at Santos, he's got European lvl but no one would deny that he is far away from Messi and Cristiano. Neymar played a good match against Italy, and it's with no doubt their star.

You're seeing Oscar as a Chelsea fan (of course he doesn't fit as a strong midfielder), gotta remember that Brazil plays a completely different game.

Hulk is a beast, I can't talk about his lvl right now (cause he plays in freaking Zenit) but I'm pretty sure he still has a lot of talent.

Brazil's 4 defenders line is one of the best in the world (Alves-Luiz-Thiago-Marcelo) and Júlio César high level is back.

I hope they call Luis Fabiano again (Fred ain't bad but, there's no comparission), he's still in good shape (not like Ronaldinho, I won't argue that one) even though he had problems in the past.

Yeah, South America has Brazil, Argentina and Colombia, those 3 could give a fight to Germany any day.

Oh and Damiao is still at Internacional.
