The boss battle looks terrible. I don't know if it was planned to look like this or if the person playing didn't know what to do, but i didn't like it. Besides FF15 the only things interesting for me from Microsoft's conference are Tekken 7 and Dead Rising 4.

I hope Sony's conference will have some surprises.

Pretty cool. Can't wait for pricing, tech specs, release titles and other details. I was just thinking of getting a PS4 since the price prolly gonna drop as Ps4Pro comes out. But now I'm thinking I might save up some more to get Switch at release.

Possibly, especially if it is compatible with 3DS games, as many speculate due to it using very similar looking tiny cartridges. It didn't show any touch green application on the trailer, though, so I'm doubtful about that. I think 3DS is significantly cheaper though. And it has the 3D gimmick (which no one really cares about, but it has it)

Maybe this is the new direction of Nintendo? No more separate handhelds possibly? Handhelds are the thing they've been the king of since Gameboy, but now mobile devices are eating up that market. On home console market, they haven't in ages competed with specs, but with innovative playing methods. So in the future, they are going to focus up on something in the middle. Portable that is significantly better and more versatile than mobile devices, that also functions as a perfectly okay home console.

Just speculating here though.

I'm really curious about the specs. It seems to run Skyrim remastered, so atleast PS3 level, but could it even comparable with PS4? Also wanna now, if it all in the handheld portion, or will the dock give it a boost in graphics and resolution or something?

Ehh, never been a fan of Nintendo. I'd see how it performs in comparison to the PS4 and then decide to buy it or not. Definitely sounds cool though.

Whether or not they can sell me on it is going to depend entirely on the price, specs, games, and battery life.

I love handhelds. If it can serve as the natural upgrade for my Vita. I'll probably be on board. Get a great Fire Emblem game and a few other titles on there and I will almost certainly buy it for the right price.

You can get an Nvidia Shield K1 tablet for like $200, plus whatever the controller costs. I don't know what the specs are going to be on the NS but if it's not considerably more powerful they are going to need to land in that price rage. Like $300 max. The ability to play Nintendo games on it and it's extra functionality is easily worth the extra hundred. Any more than that and I don't know. After that point I think it starts to be a tough sale.

Unless it's just really powerful. In which case I guess they could make the argument to go higher but the problem there is going to be battery life and just the general difficulty of getting people to drop money on expensive handhelds when they are carrying around smartphones. And with the battery more powerful something like that is the quicker the battery drains. That's a killer with a handheld.

That's understandable. As a console I'd agree that doesn't have a huge amount of appeal but as a handheld I think it might. It's going to depend on the details.

There isn't a whole lot of competition on the handheld gaming side. There are Andriod and IOS but those games are pretty universally terrible. So as a legit handheld gaming platform they will end up being pretty much the only game in town offering good video gaming on the go. If they consolidate all their games for this platform instead of splitting them between handheld and home console like they have before they should be able to make a pretty good argument for it from that angle. As long as the price is right.

What I do want is way way way way WAY more games at launch and more 3rd parties support on the NX.
I swear that if they have region lock AGAIN I won´t be buying it.

Also, do you guys think that the Wii U prices will drop now?

Jesus christ, Smash 4 online is such a joke. It has the worst input lag in existence and literally feels like you're playing in slow motion. It's impossible to have any kind of competitive fights when you're getting hit by everything because of lag. It might not have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact that certain characters thrive in lag. Like, fighting yoshi or any other character with godlike frame data and/or broken attacks online is just cancer of the highest order.

Then there's the salty ass scrubs that report you just for losing, and a certain number of reports gets you soft-banned for a couple weeks. This might sound like a good system to punish toxic players, except for the fact that these reports aren't even moderated. People can just report you all willy nilly and get you a ban and there's no dam thing you can do about it. Nobody checks whether it's legitimate. You just gotta suck it up. That makes no sense. I'm on about my 100th ban this year and I still can't believe such a flawed system exists.

It seems par for the course for Nintendo. They don't understand the internet at all, and it shows with weird systems like this and DMCA'ing everyone on YouTube when they show game footage.

Ok, after seeing the nintendo switch video a couple of times.... I can only say that appears to be objectively terrible in every single regard and can't fathom what in the holy hell nintendo had to inhale to even consider that this is something people would want.

First of all, every single person in that video is an asshole. If you go to a basketball game with a basketball video game, you are simply an asshole. If you go to a party and take your console there I hope the hosts chases out with a god dammed bat. If you can't stop playing games while taking your dog out then you probably should watch out for your dog searching for the sweet release of death via jumping in front of a moving vehicle.

This is ridiculous... It's like nintendo looked at the wii u, decided it wasn't terrible enough and made it even more mobile. Wtf? They are pretending the wii u failed because it wasn't mobile enough for some reason. Or they think that because their handhelds are successful then what people want is handheld consoles. They took everything terrible with the Wii U and increased it tenfold. When a group of people want to play a video game together that doesn't mean they want to do it looking at the tinniest screens plausible. This is what I hated about splatoon. It's an insanely fun game but one person gets to play while looking at the TV and the other plays looking at the controller. I have nothing but visceral hatred for this concept which sucks because splatoon is actually fun. Still, I would never buy this game solely for this

As for the nintendo switch controllers... I can't help but think they suck. Honestly, I didn't enjoy wii games where you only used the wii remote (without the nunchucks) so looking at the smaller clearly more uncomfortable versions provided by the switch does not appeal to me at all. When they combine into the full controller they look like a passable, yet clunky, controller.

The way I see it, this is a console which removes all the good things that made the wii fun while giving you everything which was terrible about the wii u on steroids.

A) There is no competition in the dedicated gaming handheld space. This is a better 3DS successor.
B) Before Ninitendo first party titles have been locked away on two different platforms Wii U and 3DS. Now they can consolidate all of that.

With the things they showed I honestly don't see any glaring problems with it yet. The controller thing we have to wait and see. I understand your reservations about that but the little square ones seem like they'll be fine to me. Using the pair as a big block...I don't know about that. This is not going to be like the Wii U at least because the console does not allow for second screen functionality. When playing games on your tv the Switch must be in it's dock. It looks to me like went for simple but versatile in their design this time, as opposed to the Wii U's gimmicky design.

If it comes out and is $300 or below and can serve as the next generation of Nintendo hardware. Where people can play the Fire Emblems, Zeldas and Mario Carts of the world at home or on the go. That seems like it could sell to me.

Well, the wii u definitely works as a successor to the 3DS. I won't debate that much at least. By any logic it seems to be an excellent handheld device. A needlessly complicated handheld device but still. I would question how having the joysticks works with carrying this in a backpack but they probably thought of small stuff like that. But as far as nintendo is concerned, the console is a successor to the Wii U. And as a successor to the wii u and competitor to whatever it is sony and microsoft come up with next, this is just terrible. In my case I had a N64 which I loved. I loved the gamecube. I loved the wii. Then I was skeptical of the wii u but at least saw why the thing could be fun. And however a hard sell the wii u was it did have some fun games (though I never owned one). But this is... I don't even know. If you look at it it does not offer anything new or interesting gaming wise. Nintendo looked at their success with handheld devices and assumed people want "handheld gaming". People want fun games and the console adds absolutely nothing new in that regard.

And I can't even wrap my head around how objectively stupid the idea of going to play a video game outside is. Why? If you can gather with a bunch of friends to play games then you can probably do so somewhere where your expensive device isn't exposed to the elements. Or a rogue ball won't suddenly attack it. Or you won't get a sunburn. It's one thing to get a sunburn actually doing something, it's another to get one playing mario karts. And the issue is not " but you can play in other places that aren't a park". The issue is the simple fact that barely anyone actually needs this functionality from a console. Well, I sure as hell can't fathom a situation in my life where this is even vaguely useful.

As for the questions... How powerful is it? Clearly the answer is "not very much". It's tiny and you can only fit so much in it. Battery life? It's tiny so they can't place in that big a battery anyways and the higher the specks the more limited battery will be. So the best case scenario here is "well, sort of ok-ish if you squint a bit". As for the launch lineup... in all fairness it could be good but if the wii u is a reference then it we can't be very optimistic. Which adds up to the "handheld gaming" thing I mentioned earlier. I would say the launch price should be about 300 as well for this to even have a chance. IMO at 350 no one will care about it at all unless for some reason nintengo got it's hands on borderline magical technology that makes the console ridiculously potent.

Honestly, why does nintendo even think people want this? People loved the gamecube because the console had respectable capabilities and the games were fun. People loved the wii because you could play it with others and the games made sense with the motion controllers. Skyward sword, metroid... those were fantastic. Nintendo, IMO, would have been so much better off if the succesor to the wii had improved graphic capabilities and better motion gaming (and maybe transformer controllers that can be joined together for normal gaming and separated for motion gaming).

Nintendo should just be honest and say they are giving up on consoles and focusing on handheld devices.
