I think that the specs of the Switch needed to be better. Its not so much a case of being a graphicscore kinda of a guy, indie games have proven us wrong and wrong again on the need for powerfull graphics to have a good game, but what is the main problem that Nintendo faces with their consoles?

Making the diferences matter.

Let us be fair, even me, a old Nintendo fan, had trouble seeing the Wii U as more than a Tablet+Wii, instead of a whole new console.
And better graphics can and will make a diference on that, I mean, weren´t we all AMAZED by that Smash Brawl trailer where they changed their Gamecube designs to Wii designs before starting the fight? Weren´t we in love with Galaxy´s, well, galaxies?

This also goes hand in hand with creativity: Had the wii not had "superior" specs to the cube, Galaxy woulnd´t be possible, and we would be stuck with Sunshine 2.0
And that´s what the wii u felt like, with it´s line up. All of the classical nintendo titles of the wii u felt like rehashes. I can´t even stand to look at a Super Mario now.
Also, having the capability to play third party games on Nintendo consoles would be very freaking nice for once. Being a fan of Naruto, Soccer and Assasins creed, I am obligated to have another console or a good pc to play it unlike every single one of the people that bought the other consoles for their exclusives. STOP LIVING IN 1990 NINTENDO.

And what´s sad is that I think they will go in that same direction with the Switch...they need to justify to the people that don´t like Mario, Zelda or Pokemon why they should buy the switch. And they could easily do that.

Give the shooter fans a great Metroid game with a creative Multiplayer (seriously, please no COD in space); Give the veichle lovers of BF and Bullet Hell a good Starfox game. Make Xenoblade into the new final fantasy. Give the adults more Bayonneta, No More Heroes and Conker´s (if only).

And please Nintendo, stop being such old f*cks, give us good online, STOP WITH THE FRIEND CODES, give us good compability ( Id say nintendo is the company that $$$ the most with it´s past), and give us more competitive games since as EVO, LoL, and freaking Melee Mr. "I will never do another Smash that isn´t easily acessed to the public" Sakurai, prove us every single day that they are the sh*t right now

Looks like a lot of games are going to celebrate anniversaries this year.

Oh, both Japanese and Western game developers picked their favorite games of 2016. Overwatch and Pokemon GO are the most popular.

Lots more Nintendo Switch news came out last night. I would say the big highlights are..

• The price is $300
• The release date is March 3rd
  
• Some game announcements.(Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario Kart, Skyrim, FIFA, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, a new Shin Megami Tensei game, I Am Setsuna, Bomber Man R, Splatoon 2, and Shovel Knight.)
• Launch lineup will be.. Zelda Breath of the Wild, Just Dance 2017, Skylanders Imaginators, and something called 1-2-Switch
• Battery Life with brightness maxed is 3 hours at max load and 6 normally.
• Resolution is 720p in handheld mode 1080p in docked mode.
• Has 32 GBs of memory.
• The Console is Region Free.
  
• Additional controllers are priced at $50
• Additional docks are priced at $90
• Online functionality is going to be linked to a premium account system similar to PSN and Xbox Live.

Honestly, better than I thought it would be. There ares some obvious warts there. The Launch lineup is a little thin, the memory amount relatively tiny, and those battery life numbers are problematic. 3 hours is not a lot of time for a handheld.

Price is good though. And I'm interested in a Fire Emblem Warriors game especially if has some kind of character affection system like normal Fire Emblem does. A new Shin Megami Tensei could be good too.

This strikes me as one of those things that won't sell great at launch then when Christmas 2017 rolls around and there are some more games out for it there will be a price drop to $250 and it will get a big surge. That's how it was for the 3DS.

There is a rumor going around that Fire Emblem Fates is going to get a Switch version now too.

I think that would be a great move. If they released some kind of better graphics version with all DLC and all 3 versions of the game rolled into one... That might get me to buy a Switch. Especially if Fire Emblem Warriors turns out to be good.

Horizon Zero Dawn is soon too. Going to be a good year in gaming for sure.

And eventually this year we get Red Dead Redemption 2. That's the one I'm most stoked for I think.

I have been playing some Yakuza 0 over the past week. It's my first time with the series and I'm surprised by how much I like it. It's really a great game.

I'd always overlooked it because I'm not huge on the whole Yakuza fantasy thing. Like I was never a Sun Ken Rock fan. But this is very different than that. Almost like a Gintama mafia arc.

What really took me by surprise is how well written it is. The plot. The characters. The offbeat sense of humor. Even the side quests are lovingly crafted. I was not at all expecting it to be this good.

Wow, that is kinda crazy. I don't even know how much time I have spent on it and I don't think I have done half the storyline yet... So many awesome sidequests. If anything, I have done so many sidequests I am pretty sure I am rather over leveled right now.

It's about 120 hours for a full play through (not counting the dlc which is another 40-60). I got the platinum so I did literally everything once too. Got about 6 months of entertainment out of that game.

The sidequests are definitely a blast. Especially the monster hunts. Each one is like a self-contained horror movie.

Ending varies more than you might think by the way. So if you want the good end you may want to glance at a guide because it's not entirely intuitive.

Ah, I was wondering what if there were several endings. I bought the game on a whim so I have been pleasantly surprised so far. I generally try to pick the "nice" options when given a choice though... But then again, sometimes a bunch of people die anyways so I am not sure of what to make of that. I did go to a guide to see how to get the best scenario with the crones but from what I got they were all terrible so I allowed them to eat the children.

The game has a very flexible epilogue system so most of your choices are reflected. A lot of them, like the Crones, are shades of grey. And change things like the fates of the kingdoms and the love interest stuff.

The ones that really matter in terms of the good/bad ending are the choices with Ciri and with Emir. Those are the ones that decide how the game ends. Most of the endings aren't bad, just different.

There is however one really bad ending and to avoid that...

Spoiler: Putting this advice in tags even though I promise it is as vague and spoiler free as possible.

If you want to avoid the bad ending be very supportive of Ciri. The more the better.

Once I get done the first two games. I bought 3 due to the Steam sale. Bought the first 2 games on sale some years ago but never got into it due to wonky combat and the game crashing all of the time. Now I'm a couple hours into it with a more fresh perspective.

Cool. I haven't had issues with the game crashing yet, I guess the game got patched up with time. So far I have had only one crash and it was during a cutscene.

Because I had issues with the original before it got "enhanced" or whatever they did to it. I've had less issues now and am a decent chunk into the game, but the gameplay itself is just so incredibly tedious...I guess only the story has kept me interested. Might be more of a chore after all, since things are suppose to improve drastically with the second game. At least, that's what I remember people telling me.

I've had less issues now and am a decent chunk into the game, but the gameplay itself is just so incredibly tedious...I guess only the story has kept me interested. Might be more of a chore after all, since things are suppose to improve drastically with the second game. At least, that's what I remember people telling me.

Yeah, I'm sort of wondering how long I'll bother with the first game honestly. It isn't like you aren't jettisoned right into an existing story in that one either...

Seeing a few comments online suggests the game takes between 50 and 70 hours. I see a few people saying 25 though I think that is without doing many sidequests. Playing all 3 witchers seems to be a year long commitment lol, specially if just the last one with its expansions has potentially over 200.... I am just going to stick to the witcher 3 and hope that is enough witcher for a lifetime.

Maybe the higher numbers are if you 100% it? I'm into Chapter 2/5 with about 5-6 hours into it and the completionist in me might not even be able to abide this Plus, I think I fucked up and technically can't "complete" the game anyways. Though, I brazenly went for "Normal" instead of Easy, and that supposedly makes the game significantly harder, requiring the use of alchemy to actually progress through it. I have to say that the downright bizarre combat is what makes it so difficult, as it feels like you're wrestling against the game's own system and not actually displaying much skill. Like they'll make sure to throw in just enough mobs to eventually whittle your HP bar down before certain encounters just to make sure it isn't possible without using a specific combination of potions. And the most OP one actually slows combat down as an effect, which makes it feel even clunkier and take longer
