Underpowered...? What exactly do you expect from a handheld? It fucked the PS Vita. You can't get higher than that on the handheld market. And yes I know it is a hybrid.

I know lol. I just stated what I thought. I thought it might have been a little better stacked against other consoles. It isn't. What it does do though is revolutionize current handheld technology. That's what Nintendo should focus on. Handheld devices for handheld style games. Not an even more buggy Skyrim port than the original PS3 game...

Yeah but it feels to me as if they're trying too hard with the ports of console games. Surely it would be within Nintendo's best interests to cater for their own console instead of ports?

But they do create their own games? I also don't see what's wrong with ports as long as they make sense. Skyrim is useless for me but having a portable version? Certainly interesting.

Also the PS4 did the exact same thing. Tons of ports and nothing new. It took a while.

Hey now, be nice and leave my beloved Vita out of this.

I mean, your right the Switch is more powerful but the Vita is also 5 years older and a hundred dollars more expensive. Just because an old guy isn't the athlete he once was doesn't mean he wasn't awesome in his day. For my money the Vita is still my favorite handheld of all time. Such a great system...

People are loving their Switches though. No doubt about that.

How is Total War Warhammer?

I've never been a huge Total War guy but the fantasy units do peak my interest a bit.

I am a big fan - there are some things which could do with a bit of work (the magic needs some tweaking in my opinion), but the game feels pretty solid to me.
Another criticism I have is that fights can be a bit quick, I guess...

The campaign map is a little indecipherable also - and super simplified. But if this is your thing, there are many games which do it better.

Where total war shines is in the battles - and these are performed with suitable flair (as the series is good for), but with added monstrous units and over the top characters.

Talking of characters, although I feel the campaign is a bit lacklustre, it is awesome how different all the races feel - they have their own specific mechanics (such as grudges for dwarves, or fightiness for orks) - and the quest battles are also pretty awesome.

But then again - mods sort a lot of this out

And the modding scene is pretty strong

I've always liked Total War, but I prefer the older games to the more stylized new games.

I dunno - I was a huge fan of the Shogun and Medieval games, but it is nice to have a change once in a while - and the Warhammer universe is a pretty awesome one.
It does fit well with the Total War style.

If they do give me my ratties, I am afraid that my work may well suffer...

Medevial Total War was a solid game. Easily my favorite one of the lot. Played jt on the old Windows 95 so often back when I was a kid. Shogun was fun but short. Rome was fairly good too.

Just finished Mass Effect Andromeda and I liked it.

As expected it's getting a lot of harsh words said about it. Some deserved. Some not so much. The opening is not good. It lacks polish in a lot of ways and the body and facial animations are not acceptable for a triple A game. Like Dragon Age Inquisition there are still too many MMO-style fluff quests (though not quite in the same extreme) The companion AI and lack of ability to direct them to do things makes the companions tragically useless. Honestly, not sure having it be an open world game in any way improves it either.

Yet, even with all of that though it does enough things well to be a good game. It's a fun game. The dialogue doesn't always hit but is often quite funny and charming. The core story is simple and fun with a few good twists to keep things interesting. The gameplay feels good too.

It's a 7 out 10. It's a good game with some flaws.

That's my take anyway. I'm curious what other people think about as they start to finish it.

And they are supposedly making some announcement next Tuesday about their future plans to "address feedback about the game". They probably can't overhaul every animation in the game but they can at least fix Addison, Suvi, Cora. and polish up male and female Ryder. Which they really need to do IMO.

What they absolutely cannot do is sell singleplayer DLC until they have that patched which, without spoilers, seems like the intent. Fans would lose their shit if they tried that and Bioware doesn't need more bad press.

Some issues the game has are not practical to fix. The animations can be. The weak first 10 hours they can't be. The menu UI and Companion AI are heavier lifts too. It would be great if they could address those but I don't know that it will be practical. At the very least though, they need to patch in the ability to remove the pointless "hold button to activate" thing. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to open a door or talk to somebody by tapping a button. Arbitrarily making me press a button down for 3 seconds is just... Why???

I feel like the move for Bioware going forward here is to fix as many animations as they can, along with the bugs, and whatever else they can fix. Then really go all out with a couple sizable DLCs, the way Witcher 3 did with Blood and Wine, in order to bring people back like 6 months from now. And I hope that's what they do.

At the very least that could get people talking about the positives the game has instead of just the negatives.

One positive for me so far has to be the story and world/s itself.

I've just finished establishing my first outpost on Eos, which was also very satisfying. Though I hope it gets real activity eventually. The outpost doesn't even have anyone walking around.

Skaven are going to be great! Those seem like such a fun thing to fight in an total war game. An enemy that just comes at you in a flood.
