Maybe that's for the better. Here in Latvia, people are allowed to change names, when getting married, if the name is humiliating or in some special cases. I don't think that you should worry about such formal things. Everyone will call you Boffen anyway. :amuse

I was just wondering if they don't allow you to name your kids certain names just because they don't sound "Swedish?" That would be kinda dumb.

Then you could argue that they should allow you to change your name to a non-Swedish-sounding name too =/

This is the first time that I'm posting in this thread. Anyway, I don't know about laws concerning name changing, moreso in Sweden, but the issue is on the surname right? Sorry, I just started reading from the latest page going to back to the previous ones. However, I don't see the point why it must be Swedish-sounding. What was the reason for the name change in the first place?

GK, "boffen" is one of the more swedish-sounding names I have heard in a long time. :p

Our government has lightened up on name change strictness lately. Either that, or they have a sense of humor (there's a child doctor in town that got the middle name "Batman", and a radio celeb that added "Yourwelcome" as a last name, and later "Thankyouverymuch"(both in Norwegian of course), so it is now "Epsen Thoresen Yourwelcome Thankyouverymuch" xD

Thanks for the welcome, boffenjil! :smile-big

For someone who lacks knowledge on Swedish names, I thought Boffen would pass. Why were you called Boffen? Does it have any specific meaning in your language?

Perhaps you either have to...
1. Be famous, or
2. Come up with something hilarious
:p

While we're on the subject of names, does Ayah mean anything? ( Welcome to the thread ;) )
