It’s also the name of the forest kingdom in norse mythology which was ruled by Vidar, Odin’s son (Vidar would be the more common name here I guess).

In Chile, vides are known as the thing where you could wash your privates... back in the 70' were quite famous and you could find them in almost any house, and now their production is useless thanks to the phone shower, so stopped and only old house got them.
