You make it sound like I don't care at all.

I just care the right amount is all.

Oh, unless it's something serious (which is hasn't been yet), my kids don't cry when they fall over.

They learned the limits of my sympathy pretty quickly.

So I shaved my face again..

One thing I notice each time is that while my baby face stays quite prominent, the circles under my eyes are deeper every time..

So now I look like an utterly sleep-deprived 14-year old.

Conan doesn't cry when he falls anymore either, unless it's serious of course. He still tries when he's around my wife, but when he falls, I just look at him and he knows better than to fake it. :lmao

Yeah, same. As a parent you soon learn when your kid is just crying for attention/“unwarranted sympathy” and when they’re actually hurt.

It can go too far the other way as well though if you’re not careful, and the kid never wants to admit they’re actually in pain/sad/hurt even when it’s visibly obvious they are. There’s a line there, somewhere.

Gotta make it clear to the kid that crying and showing emotions is important, but crying for every little thing won’t get you more “positive attention”. Obviously as a parent you show your kid love, sympathy and attention, but the kids have to learn they can’t always get it for every little thing.

What's fun is when random strangers shoot daggers at you, when you don't immediately pick up yoir kid after a fall.

judging your parenting against their overprotective coddling.
As far as I'm concerned, that's no way to teach self-sufficiency...

Glad that you folk share my view on 'good parenting'

Ugh, strangers giving you judgy looks in public is one of the most annoying things there is. We've been on the bus a few times when Conan was just dead-tired, didn't want to sleep and thus as a result, cries and cries.

First few times I felt like shit, being a burden to them etc, but after a few times I realized they're the fucking despicable people for "judging" you and making you feel even worse in a situation that is already terrible without their judgemental stares. Now I always talk back to them, "Do you want to give this a try?", or "Whip out your titty, mine's not producing anymore.", one time I saw an old classmate I got along with and he did the same, so I shoved Conan in his arms and said, "There! Give it a go!" :lmao

People.. :nah
