Has anyone seen Hugo? Is it any good? How good is it (if it is good)?

The concept for In Time is pretty awesome. Reminds me of certain japanese entertainment products, such as Death Note or Mirai Nikki. Or Money and Intelligence concept in Bakuman. But when I saw the trailer... Smells like fail.

I recently watched Lives of Others (Das Leben Der Anderen, Germany, 2006) by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Tourist, 2010). It tells the story of STASI agent in East-Berlin 1984. Teacher and interrogator gets his chance to proceed in his career, as he is the head of surveillance for certain screenwriter and his actress lover (who are doubted of treason, anti-socialism). Listening their daily live, the agent bit by bit finds himself more absorbed by their lives.

IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I really loved it. It started very slow, and even felt a little boring for a second, but the plot build up wonderfully, and it was very exicting and touching experience. The plot was very functional, well built indeed. Acting was top notch, and sets and costumes very good, totally captured the 80's DDR imho. I really recommend it. It works on so many levels. Drama, thriller, love story, and a personality thesis.

And sure, of course me the idea of art changing the world appeals greatly. I recommend warmly.

Hoping to see A Dangerous Method last weekend, I somehow ended up watching Breaking Dawn. Whilst watching the movie I couldn't stop thinking of how I ended up in that situation. Well to be honest we split into two groups, and I for some reason chose not to go watch Immortals with the other group. Breaking Dawn isn't exactly a bad movie, but not really exciting either. Its just a shame that A Dangerous Method wasn't on since it took me a while to convince my friends that it would be a good movie.

Right now I can't wait to watch The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I dislike the idea of Hollywood remaking foreign franchises, but the trailer was awesome and the film is by David Fincher! Plus I heard that the Swedish movies aren't such a big deal, at least when compared to the awesome books.

But the swedish films are very good. Or well, the first one is the strongest of the three imo. Not that good, but still good films I think.

I kinda share your feelings about it. I'm hyped about it, though my feelings are still bit mixed since I don't like Hollywood remakes. But it is fricking David Fincher! FINCHER! And the trailer looked goood.

I think when remakes are handled by people who are respected and have produced good stuff in the past, there's nothing to worry about.

Surprisingly, Matt Reeves did a really good job with Let Me In. The original is such a good movie, and I was skeptical in them changing Eli to Abby but it still works really well as a movie. The way it was shot is really reminiscent of the original, but still different...it's touch to explain. I think the casting is what made the movie good though.

Reeves isn't Fincher, but through his association with JJ Abrams I have respect for him.

Fincher's remake does look pretty amazing though. The cast, the look...if it isn't good it'll be a huge disappointment.

Let me just say this... If I knew David Fincher would eventually make a version of Män som hatar kvinnor, I would never have seen the Swedish movies. Don't get me wrong, the original was fine. Hell, I'd even call it really good compared to about 90% of Swedish films these days. It's just... David Fincher is amazing. Every movie I've seen by him I've at worst thoroughly enjoyed. Except Alien 3. I hate that movie. But hell, he quit before the movie was finished so it barely counts.

Fincher has made some of the best thrillers ever made (talkin' bout Se7en, Fight Club). And now...... I'll probably not like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as much as I would have. I was friggin' hyped up as hell about this movie until I saw the full trailer. That's when I realized I've seen every scene in the trailer before. It left me with a feeling of uncertainty: will this movie really be as good as I'm hoping for it to be? I'm thinking yes. But I'll probably not enjoy it as much as I could've. Because even if Fincher includes a whole bunch of stuff from the novel which wasn't in the Swedish version, it will still be very much like watching the same movie. Of course it'll be its own movie, but from what I saw in the trailer... everything is just so familiar.

I was hoping this would be my True Grit of 2011, a remake better than the original, a remake which will blow every flaw from the original away. But even if it does that, and even if it's a great movie (and hey, I don't doubt it for a second), I envy all the Americans who will see this story for the first time told by the great mind of David Fincher.

I resisted watching the Swedish movies for years before people finally managed to force them onto me. Should've held my ground.

I really hope that Fincher will also return to direct the sequels, that is if his movie ends with the actual possibility of there being a follow up.

It's more alternative than added scenes, as I've read from some comments.

Seen In Time yesterday, was quiet nice with lot's of familiar faces, but the ending hasn't cleared up anything, for me at least.

Just Watched IMMORTALS and I'm very disappointed ... I guess I expected too much after watching the trailer
The end was a complete failure In My Opinion.

Saw Drive yesterday. Very awesome movie. It's funny that if my dad hadn't told me that it was a really good movie, my friends and I would have watched Immortals or Tower Heist. I loved the movie's style, it gave off a real retro vibe (reminded me a bit of Vice City) and was kind of noir. Great directing, great acting and a lot of style.

I still haven't seen Drive. I wonder if it is even anymore at the theaters here.... I really wanted to see that one on big screen.

The Batman poster looks cool. But still, I'm not particulary hyped about the film. But a cool poster indeed, gives the right image of Bane. Just like the Dark Knight posters gave of the Joker. Jon well done by whoever designed those.

The backlash against Immortals on imdb/rt could have been a hint on the quality and the failure it has become.

Seen Warrior over the weekend, I'm so happy that I didn't watch a trailer, plot, execution and characters were nice, even if I'm not a real-world MMA fan, only Tough and so on. haha

Did anyone see trailer of MIB III? It didn't seem half as bad as I expected, but not good either. I hope it will be a positive suprise. But my feeling is the otherway around...

@Ustegius, you're not the only one - I DON'T have any expectations whatsoever for this movie. I don't mind the third installment and all, BUT I don't like the idea of putting someone else in Tommy Lee Jones role <yeah, yeah, he will be in the movie, but the major part will be in 'the past' when Brolin will be playing agent K.. for me just thinking about it.. it sucks> All IMO.

Watched Warrior last night, and the movie was badass and simply superb in my opinion. It had a great balance of drama and fighting/action, and the build up from fight to fight until the last match was done in a great way, I got really hyped. Tom Hardy was amazing in this movie too, as was the rest of the cast. A beautiful movie that was much more than just a story about fighting, and the way all the themes were told, built up and resolved was superbly done. Top notch, yet another movie about fighting, like The Fighter, that just has "it" and gets to you.
