I don't agree. Gruvia is the most progressed IMO. They went from a practical joke to just about canon, and were also enemies at the start just like Gajeel and Levy. The difference is Gruvia has a great deal more spotlight, whereas Gajevy barely had anything until it came out of no where in Tenroujima (no one thought of this ship before that arc, face reality). They didn't have anything worthwhile in the GMG, and had that one moment in Tartaros. Hence why I say Hiro is trying to play catch up with the ship now. The fact remains they are not a main couple, Nalu and Gruvia are the main romances.

As for side stories Gruvia has its fair share as well. I don't like to count them though, unless they are written by Hiro. In that case, Gruvia > Gajevy in special chapters overall.

I agree with you on Nalu and Jerza though.

I agree with everything in your second paragraph but I disagree with some things you said here. I honestly think Gajevy has had the most progression of any on the big 4 ships... Gajeel went from basically beating Levy up to now caring for her and going out his way to protect her. Coming from out nowhere I wouldn't say that either but I can see what you meant by that. If I was gonna rank it based on progression I would say:

Gajevy > Gruvia > Nalu & Jerza

the last two being tied cause Nalu has really been stuck in neutral for most of the series besides a few hints here and there... they'll most likely be the last ship canonized and they're still best friends right now so there's no rush while Jerza was always a ship in my eyes where Erza and Jellal both always knew what's up with each other's status so there is no need for a huge noticeable progression cause they're already like that to me

The side story wasn't canon either but obviously Hiro wouldn't approve of it if he didn't want it to be made so its just something to make shippers look forward to Gajevy. Just my take

Comparing the two progress wise is actually kind of difficult because it actuality, they are fairly evenly yoked on where they are right now. They both started out as Phantom vs Fairy Tail and trying to knock off each other. Eventually, both pairings became guildmates and friends.

My take is that Gruvia is the one that has had more clearly demonstrated, on-paneled, substantiative progression with ups and downs. Gajevy was more of a linear, off-paneled series of Gajeel making amends and Levy getting over fears.

I can't really call it a competition of who is more progressed, but I can say we've seen Gruvia progress more as the series has progressed.

Amen to this and the fanservice and having it shoved down our throats is getting old. Seriously fast...
Just gimme some Jerza, even if it's just a bit, and I'll be satisfied. I don't need it shoved down my throat, but if we could get small moments throughout this arc like we did during GMG, I'd be thrilled.

So what exactly is Jellal's status because last I checked, he was done running and done hiding and Doranbolt aka Mest wiped the memories of the council in regards to Jellal, and the council was killed during Tartaros. Jellal has already confirmed he's in love with Erza, and Erza in love with him, so it won't happen? Oh it'll happen, after Zeref is defeated. Jellal has already atoned and moved on. He's letting go of that past and he most definitely will end up with her.

I'm not a Gajevy fan but Gajeel nor Levy will die either. Not heard of the light novel with the Gajevy twins that come from the future to the present-day Fairy Tail? Mashima clarified it as canon as well as drew images for that novel. Neither of them will die. Yes, Jellal/Erza are one of the main pairings. There is nothing no longer "tragic" about them at all. And I will defend that til I'm blue in the face.

Gajeel has a death flag on him. He's not a vitally important character but is significant enough to produce the weight of a big death in the story. One could say Mashima's been focussing on him and Levy more than before because of what he said about pairings but if you guys think about it, it could also be due to his death approaching. There's also that new novel, which didn't show anything about them together as a family but could be taken as a little piece of fanservice for those who wanted gajevy kids raised by both their parents.

I don't know what to think but some stuff I saw by Japanese fans make me think his death is near and Levy's already pregnant. Remember this comment if it finally ends being this way.

^That's correct. No way Gajeel and Levy already slept together. As I said in the predictions thread, they aren't canon until they officially get together. Gajeel didn't confess to Levy, he confessed to himself. Jerza and ElfmanEvergreen would have been canon ages ago if feelings were the only thing that counted.

On another note, something else that's in your face, even the games don't try to hide it.

Literally "Groom Gray" and "Bride Juvia".

Just you watch that he will give certain panels that will make some people goes insane then his whole teasing will pay back (if he the chapter will have such panels )

If I'm not wrong, neither did Asuka's parents. It could've happened offscreen, specially if you remember they spent one whole year together and that odd pannel where they seemed to be in the same bed.

To be honest, I think none of the big 4 need a confession since it's too obvious. Gruvia needs to wait until the end of the war and nalu needs a big event to trigger their self reflexion about the nature of their relationship. But again, that's just my point of view. Maybe I'm biased for taking other mangas with canon pairings but no confessions as examples.

Seems I'll have to stay awake to translate whatever Yonkou and Jump Netabare post.

Well, when sleep was mentioned, I automatically thought "sex" and didn't see Levy having sex with Gajeel without proof that he does love her and won't leave her after smashing.

Natsu and Lucy both need to confess to each other, otherwise it's just a close friendship and nothing more. Gray also needs to confess to Juvia because while we know he cares for her, we're still wondering if he loves her.

Thing is, killing off those types of characters isn't Mashima's style. He's always found a way to retcon it and "bring them back" so to speak and he'll do the same with Gajeel. He uses death flags as a trolling method and then brings the character back and finds a way for said character to stay alive.

Let's be real, we all know what they did . I literally wouldn't be surprised if Levy is prego in the aftermath of the war

The closest to being canon out of the big 4 is deff Gajevy and Jerza, with Jerza probably leading the pack

Nawww I wouldn't say out loud lol but both sides have to know that how each other feels about them... to me at least. What good does it do if I like a girl and she likes me back but we both have no idea if the other feels the same way?

No way, I see Levy being too sensible and mature for that, even if Gajeel dressed in skimpy clothes. Wouldn't be shocked if she only vowed to have sex after marriage.

Seems Gajeel and Levy are ahead solely because it's confirmed Gajeel is into Levy... unless we don't know if Levy is truly into Gajeel as well, or if she didn't confess it either.
