Anyone plays Pillars of Eternity? I am a fan of Baldur's Gate, and since it is a CRPG like Divinity, I kinda want to buy it.

Yes. And you should - if you like the Baldur's Gate style of gameplay (it really is much of the same).

Not been able to play much yet, but what I have played I am a big fan of.
Story seemed interesting so far, combat is meh (but that goes with the territory), graphics are as good enough.
The intermittant voice acting is a bit odd, but is good when it is included.

I actually don't remember much about BG's gameplay, but BG impressed me so much that I always have good opinions about anything related to BG. I might buy PoE once I finish playing other games.

There's like a joke easter egg on a tombstone that people label as transphobic. Some backer paid enough money and he put a joke/limerick style thing in it. People lost their shit over it, and since Totalbiscuit came out defending Obsidian, he got hit with the shitlord-bat as well. Really ridiculous IMO, but it's buzz for the game all the same, I guess.

About pillars of eternity. You could call it Baldur's Gate 2015. It's fun. Playing it makes you feel really nostalgic. The similarities are not only in gameplay, but the stories of both games are really close. There are many things (that we are used to in recent RPG games) missing from the game (such as ordering inventory and binding skills to buttons and also assigning auto behavior to party members... etc) But the game is worth trying. Of course it needs so much time to complete, but that's no problem for an RPG fan.

That's great news. The Star Ocean games have always been really fun.

I'm also looking forward to Lost Dimension which is a JRPG where you take control of 11 characters with a Valkyrie Chronicles style battle system with the added twist of some of them being traitors who turn on you if can't figure out who they are by the end.

Many reviews are rolling out for the Witcher 3 and they pretty much all confirm it's gonna be awesome. The best of which is by far Conan O'Brien's.

Okay The Witcher 3 is pretty neat.. the combat is still clunky somehow, but hey at least there are some noticeable improvements over its predecessors' combat mechanics.

And dear lord this game is such a time-sinker lol, I don't think I'd be able to enjoy this game to the fullest unless I'm having off days.

Definitely agree, I put in a few hours last night. It's still far to early for me to guess at what the overall combat is going to be like(don't even have a crossbow yet) but the sword fighting at least is a little better. Hopefully, with time I'll figure out how to use it a little more strategically than I can now.

Though from the side quests I've done it seems like this is a game that you can do just a side quest and feel satisfied. I did about 5 or so last night and each was very much like a mini short story. If it can keep up that quality level this game is going to be a blast in short bursts or long.

Reviews were drawing the Skyrim comparison a lot and I actually don't think the two are very similar; it's reminding me much more of Red Dead Redemption. Which is another game I love.

I agree, I feel like Witcher III is more similar to RDR other than anything else.

Something to be noted: I feel like the characters' expressions in this game is far more natural and expressive compared to.. say, Dragon Age Inquisition. I remember Yahtzee was criticizing the terrible facial expressions that DA:I characters have and I think The Witcher is clearly optimizing their visual engine. I've never seen a game with facial expressions this good since L.A. Noire was released several years ago.

and boy.. I did not see promotion materials for Witcher III, but I'm surprised how pretty Yennefer is in this game. Because I read Witcher novels as well, I thought she's going to be more mean-looking and less attractive. I don't like Triss's new voice though, I prefer her previous voice.

Yeah, it makes the DA:I's animations look pretty janky. Which always looked a little shoddy to me but the in the Witcher everybodies' faces are so expressive, it makes NPC's seems a lot more alive.

And I take back what I said about it being playable in short bursts. I started playing last night at like 9pm looked up at the clock at and it was like 1 in the morning. Learned a lot in the process though and made it out of the first region.

The pieces are starting to fit together in combat. I'm playing on the "Blood and Broken Bones" difficulty level. The combat is very chaotic and often the lockon button does more harm than good but I like that you have to use signs to create openings to attack. And I love the way they've changed potions. I used them a lot more once i realized you only have to brew the recipe once and then every time you meditate it automatically gives you more for the low price of some alcohol in you inventory. Same for bombs.

In a tough fight I find myself using all the tools I've got and that's pretty cool because it means everything I've got feels valuable and useful.

Also love the new leveling and mutagen system. The way you level abilities and put them in slots almost feels like creating a custom loadout or something.
