I'll check out your recommendation @Organizized ! I was going to try the new one out simply because I'm bored, but I'll start with the old show first.

Also, I watched Friends from College on Netflix. It wasn't bad but I'm not going to lie it was everywhere. I kind of felt like I was on drugs or something watching it. The first few episodes are messily constructed and sometimes the humor is just really bad (like they tried way, way too hard) but when the season (?) was over I actually thought it was pretty decent. It has a lot of room to improve of course, but I liked Liza, Max and Nick's characters. Everyone was well acted when they weren't in those awkward humor scenes too. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how good Ethan's actor was (I forget his name, tired). If they make a S2, I'll give it a shot as well.

Anyways, sorry for the rambling on that bit...if you are bored and have nothing to watch, give it a shot. You watch it and like it? Cool. Watch it and hate it? At least you gave it a chance. lol


I also started The Office (U.S). I haven't seen it since the first season premiered but I remember now why I stopped. The second hand embarrassment I was getting from some of the characters' stupidity etc (like Michael's) was just too much. This isn't meant to sound like the show itself was embarrassing or bad, just that the moments they wanted you to feel that way for the characters was just too strong. I'm not comfortable with SHE. lol However I've been forcing myself through it and it's pretty funny.

More like a mocking tribute to 80's camp films. But yeah, definitely watch the old show first, or a lot of jokes from the new one will make zero sense. And don't expect "serious" comedy.

That's not a problem for me. I like Dragonheart and The Last Airbender, so popularity or whatnot does not matter to me. And if it is funny I don't mind what kind of comedy is. I did like The House in the Woods and I believe that falls into a mocumentary horror film so I think this show has high chances so far.

I can safely say that the new Wet Hot American Summer is not as brilliant funny as the prequel series... that one sometimes balanced on the edge of "Scary Movie-humor" but never quite fell over (imo). This one does ever so often. Still kinda funny when the jokes hit home, much thanks to the cast, but the story is too dumb to be "dumb but fun" and the humor is often too over-the-top to possibly be delivered with the kind of tongue-in-cheek that was the film and the prequel. 6/10
(Still recommend the previous installations.)

First episode of DuckTales (2017) was GREAT! Love what they're doing with the characters, how the triplets are getting their own individual characteristics, the whole dynamic of the cast felt awesome just from this first episode. The animation is amazing, too, love the backgrounds with the sort of paper texture and comic-y shading (halftone?). And too many references to count. Even a damn Lupin III-cameo!! (or technically Jigen, but still)

Kinda wanna make a thread for this series now, but it'd probably end up being just me posting there anyway...

In other news, MY DREAM CASTING CAME (partly) TRUE! David Tennant starring as Crowley in the new Good Omens series, along with Michael Sheen as Aziraphale. This has absolutely everything going for it now.

I liked it too, and I was worried they were going to ruin it like they did with the Powerful Girls reboot. The only problem I had was that it was really, really hard for me to understand Donald. xD

Oh and for any lurkers who might see this...The Defenders airs on Netflix in 45 minutes!

Yeah, it's been a while since I last watched any Donald shorts (also I'm more used to him in Swedish from when I was a kid), so when he started talking I kinda thought I'd have a tough time.. I understood him, but immediately thought "oh, when he gets riled up I won't understand a word". So I turned on subtitles, but switched them off later once I realized I'd gotten used to the voice. It took a bit of getting used to at first, though.

Some people have been complaining about the triplets not having Duck-y voices but I thought that was a great choice, letting Donald be the only one to sound that way. I always kinda thought his voice is more connected to his temper and personality than the fact that he's a duck, in any case.

Anybody else watching Netflix's Defenders?

I'm up to episode six now and it's a lot better that I expected. I had been a little concerned about how they would blend what in my view was 2 really good shows in Daredevil and Jessica Jones and 2 kinda meh shows in Luke Cage and Iron Fist but so far I'm a little impressed by how well they go together. They are four very distinct and different characters. Which works well.

Like for Danny Rand from Iron Fist. Just like in his show he still comes off as this upbeat, energetic, impulsive, and not to bright. But if you put him in a room with Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage he naturally slides into the role of immature little brother. And I kind of like that.

I finished the show. I liked it a lot. First three episodes were slow burn to get you there, but at the end, it ties in well. It really helped to expand on Danny and Luke too, as I felt their shows were the weakest to date. I felt like this was their S2.1. It's also cool that we got to see more of the Hand.

I give the show a 5/5 for sure. Fans of Marvel and Marvel TV shows...go watch it!

Were you as big a fan of Elektra and Colleen Wing as I was @Styx?

Elektra I loved from Daredevil but being back from the dead I wasn't sure what to expect. And Colleen Wing I didn't care much for in Iron Fist. Both have surprised me by how they managed to be the MVP's of the supporting cast so far. Along with Scott Glenn's Stick, of course.

Well for me, not so much of Elektra, but I like Colleen a lot. It felt like they really wanted to push Elektra in and it held her character back some because of the quickness of it. She's not bad though, definitely not.

Out of supporting cast, I really think Misty Knight (and her actress) were the best. Well, besides my favorite besides Foggy from Daredevil. Their characters just felt real, like they had existed long before the show hit the screen...if you know what I mean.

I can kind of see why you say that about Elektra now. And I totally know what you mean about Foggy. Misty I wasn't quite as high on but she's pretty great in the last few episodes.

Spoiler: Defenders Spoilers

Before I hadn't gotten to the part where Elektra does her big heel turn and plays the villain. Thought that was kind of forced. Fortunately that actress is awesome at playing the evil psychopath role otherwise I think it wouldn't have worked at all. I actually felt her best parts were in the run up to that though, like where she breaks into Matt's apartment and sleeps in his bed. Which sounds super creepy but was actually cute as hell. Loved the character overall.

I guess I'm just a really big fan of the what they've done with her. Who, in the comics, is somebody I never cared for. The way the character has been written and the way the actress plays her has slowly turned me from a solid Matt X Karen shipper to a Matt X Elektra shipper.

She did kill Stick though...I'm going to miss Scott Glenn.

Also found myself coming away from this a lot higher on the idea of another season of Iron Fist. The Jessica Jones and Daredevil shows felt like the major sources of quality for Defenders but I feel like it also sold me on the idea that Danny Rand and Colleen Wing are an interesting hero couple. Which the Iron Fist show wasn't full able to do on it's own for me.

Definitely. The plot is mostly a continuation of the Daredevil black hand storyline.

Defenders was really great, enjoyed the characters and plot line. Appears that there will be more story to explore on all the characters, especially given the way it ended. Plus, the teaser for "Punisher" series looks bad@$$.

Iron Fist and Luke Cage was very slow burn, so it makes sense why so many didn't really like the series or wish to give them a chance. I'd say they are more for the hard core fans. Jessica Jones and Daredevil remain the gold of all Marvel series though...well...and Legion.

Finished watching the Defenders the day after it was released; watched 7/8 episodes in one siting; I was on a mission.

One thing I was looking forward to was how the different characters would get on and interact with one another. Matt and Jessica were my favourite; they are also the better acting pair in my eyes.

Also enjoyed Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra; her acting chops are just so superior and clear to see in her performances.

The second half of the story left a lot to be desired in terms of the villains narrative and the Hand in general, but it was still an enjoyable watch.

Anyone see Netflix's Atypical? It's about a teenager with autism. I'm only one episode in, but I like it a lot. I also enjoy how they captured the autism so well in Sam and how difficult life can be with it and how mean, sometimes not even on purpose, people can be towards those with autism.

Check it out whenever you have the time, pretty good.

@gnut I heard that show is a bust( currently on 4% on RT) and won't be getting a second season lol.

If you're looking for a good sci-fi show, watch The Expanse on Netflix. I finished its second season a few weeks back now, it's a very good watch.
