I know that I should wait for the next chapters, but with the spoilers of the chapter 189, I've started to guess that, if Meliodas turned to lost control of his own powers after resurrect (the way he seemed evil fighting against Monspiet and Derriere gave me this hint), then, Gowther maybe helped him to control his emotions when they were from the TC. This idea is pretty similar with the prototype that Nakaba gave to Gowther before release the manga. So, if Meliodas turn evil and uncontrollable once again, then, the next task that Eli must do (along with Merlin, maybe?) is help Gowther to recover his memories and powers, in order to stabilize Meliodas.

Well if gowther recover his memories i expect him to be on mel's side
He seems to be loyal to mel and obeys his orders whether they were good or not
But that just my opinion

Oh, yeah, didn't think about that! :facepalm And we don't know if Gowther will recover his post as the Selflessness of the TC if he recover his memories. I don't think that it will happen, however, I am not sure.

So another decree got revealed with Grayroad's. That leaves us with two whose explanation we haven't had yet. Dolor's and Gloxinia's, right?

We still don't know what Purity (Derrierie) and Reticence (Monspiet) do, either.

Oh right >_>

I wonder if some of them stand at conflicting ends or even amplify each other (Though shalt not kill + Purity = win-win-win situation??)

Yeah, that would be cool. Piety and Truth hate each other, though.

PIETY: HAH, you're now my slave, Schnuckles!
TRUTH: Nope. *petrifies Schnuckles*
PIETY: Ok.

Would lying (e.g. stating that you love the Demon King or Zeldris when you normally don't) when you're under the effects of Piety actually trigger Truth? I mean, you're basically controlled to say what you don't want to say. If so, they'd be pretty good at taking people down.

No, since you are already remote controlled. You don't willingly lie if you are under Piety's control. You actually believe that you are doing the bidding of Zeldris and by extension the will of the demon king and you think that's right. I doubt these two would conflict.

Some of the decrees are actually rather complex and most of them deal with matters of your morality and your heart-felt emotions. You can lie to others but it is much harder to lie to yourself.

Examples of where two decrees really compliment each other - Garan's and Merascylla's. It is really hard to not give up hope and despair in their presence. If Galan asks you whether you despair, you can chose to be honest and get your eyes burned out or you can try to act brave and lie about it and then turn to stone! Good job!

I think Gowther's powers might be the only ones to actually overwrite most of these effects since his ability alows him to completely reshape a character's personality, at least to some extent. He has his limits as it is now but I wonder if his powers reach a whole new level and become more long-lasting or even permanent should he regain his Commandment conciousnes.

Are you sure that that's how Piety works? It may be that you're "trapped" inside of your controlled body, and you can't oppose it. That being said, what you believe and what you say would contradict each-other. It's some sort of "forced lie."
Of course, this is the other scenario.

Well, bodies are generally stricken by the decrees. I could see Selflessness making you immune to certain decrees (those who are linked to emotions), but not to ones related to the body or those that have already affected you.

As for Galan and Mera, all you need is the will to carry on, but yeah, it would be very easy to break when facing those two. Although if you were to hold no hope in anything to begin with, I doubt Faith would do anything.

Mera's is so dangerous because you can never allow even for the fraction of a second any self-doubt in your heart. The moment you doubt your ability to win even for a little second it's over and you get your eye sockets burnt out with hellfire or something. And past that point you just wanna give up and die anyway.

You can kinda dodge Galan's by simply not talking to him if you are strong minded but this duo was really great at getting under your skin.

As for Piety... those people seemed more than just remote controlled to me. Under "trapped inside your body" I assume a scenario like with Fraudrin. Dreyfus is still in there, he can sometimes surface if Fraudrin is not careful but other than that he has zero control over his own body, Fraudrin is controlling all of its biological functions and even added some as we learnt from the side-text this chapter due to their merger.

With Zeldris it seemed different. It seemed like the people were actually welcoming and worshipping him like he was their savior. It's like they genuinely believed it and were completely brainwashed to some extreme extent. Which made them lose their grasp of their situation completely. I doubt they could even think bad of Zeldris or the demon king in their state, less alone lie about how they felt.

It indeed seemed as if they genuinely believed that, but when Meliodas was affected by Piety, he didn't seem to lose his integrity, so it's perhaps that you can resist it and have the real you "surface." Of course, like I said, the scenario we all assume is the correct one is the one in which it's just submission and complete brainwashing, but questioning some aspects of Piety is interesting.

Now that you mention Galan's asking you and you dodging the question, Monspiet's Reticence could very well come into play here, although I don't know what the exact details would be because, well, we don't know how the decree works and what it does.

I seet that you are talking about Gray Lord's commandment. Well, Nakaba made a big confusion with his commandment. I think that is a kind of mistake that we should nevermind it, but I see why all of you are disapointed.
About the red and gray demons: I don't think that all of them are former humans; I think that only those created by Gray Lord are. If all of those demons were created by Gray Lord, well, it wouldn't make sense, since there were demons that appeared before Gray Lord was released from the seal (for example: the one killed by Ban at the Fairy Forrest). And there was the one summoned by Merascylla, remember? She didn't create that using humans.

I don't think her ability works in such a way that even stopping to believe you can win against her can cause you to get your eyes burned out. Well, maybe it would work like that if you are the sort of person in whom "faith in yourself", for lacking a better term, is such a gargantuan deal that it counts as a blow to your own faith. I mean, ban must have come to the realization that he couldn't win against mera at some point and even then he didn't get his eyes burned out.

We still don't know what Purity (Derrierie) and Reticence (Monspiet) do, either.
Some farfetched speculation, but Derriere's fixation with Elizabeth could relate to Purity, maybe in the sense that she is not a "pure" race, she is a goddess/human hybrid.

Reticence I have no clue, but could be related to Derriere's fragmented speech, as she is in a way being reticent about speaking and Monspeit elaborates on everything.

Repose could be related to hesitation in ones actions, in a way would fit Gloxinia to avoid betrayal after the Meliodas fiasco.

Patience no clue whatsoever from what has been said.

Haha so the Commandment we thought was female turned out to be male Gloxinia and the one we thought was male tuned out to be female Grayroad.

Reticence implies some sort of modesty or "holding back"... I wonder if that decree forces the opponent to always reveal his hand, like underhanded tactics are not possible. Not to the extend of how Galan's lie detector works by clear petrification. But perhaps you gotta always fight Monspiet with your full power or something. Too many unknown factors here but it could come into play with his Trick Star magic. I hope we get that revealed soon (for the record I doubt he's dead).

IMO, The Ten Commandments are supposedly immune to other decrees but their own. And Greyroad avoids her decrees affecting her by transforming the foe into demon in the battle or like what happened in chap 190 instead of killing them ( transformation does not mean kill ).

Reticence also means refraining from speaking, as in remaining reticent when you are guilty, and I believe that, judging by Derrierie's and Monspiet's personalities, it has to do with words. Derrierie is not pure at first glance, and Monspiet talks way too much to be deemed reticent.
No idea what it does, though.

And yeah, I doubt he's dead.
