I actually don't read manga much...I prefer real novels over comics, though in my literature class I'm beginning to realize manga=literary canon :o

Hey guys! Some of you probably know me from Naruto Forums as the person who multitasks a lot...sig requests and also translations people might have. I joined MH a while ago when I realized the Naruto manga was actually better than the fillers (duh~). Njt gave me a nice welcoming and here I am.

I'm from Boston with family from Peru and parts of China and Japan (great-grandparents). I've been taking Japanese for around 6 years now since high school and I'm still taking it in college. I actually didn't really watch much anime before I took Japanese, just the usual Sailor Moon they had on TV, but I got a little more into it as the years went by.

I also speak Spanish, and some Chinese, and I took Latin for 6 long years so I can read basic French and get the gist of it too. Plus I took Greek for a year, meh. I love learning languages if you didn't notice. :tem

So as for college, my major is Japanese and International Letters (which is a comparitive major) concerning Japanese and Spanish literature. I need to take the JLPT too...

I just started translating manga which is ironic since I don't read manga...I haven't read any manga to its entirety in English or Japanese (but that will change!)...I prefer watching and listening to Japanese than to be reading it..but I have seen many Japanese dramas, music, and random shows. Currently, I'm translating Dragon Zakura for PK Translations and Beshari Gurashi for Knockout! Translating has become my new hobby aside from GFXing :) I'm also learning how to make 3D art!!! yay!!

Ossu!!! Is it a strange feeling to know 3 languages quite fluently? I mean, my English went really bad after staying in Japan for 3 years... and switching from one language to the other took some getting used to (when translating for people on the spot) But to be able to do that in 3 languages must be somewhat tricky... do you want to say some words in another language when speaking normally? (sometimes when I speak in English there are phrases in japanese that cover the moment so much better, but can't use because the other person doesn't know japanese :s)

anyways- yeah- I doubt I have what it takes to put 3 languages under my belt.. I mean I suck at what I know so much already :p

YES! Like when sometimes I'm translating something into English, I forget how to say it nicely in English. I know what the Japanese is, but I can't figure out how to make it sound right in English.

Also, one time in Japanese class my brain decided to get funky with me. Instead of saying 'demo' I said 'pero'...I went from Japanese to Spanish in 2 seconds....><

And in Japanese class, I couldn't say the kanji for university (SAD!) for the life of me one time while reading some text. I kept saying 'daxue'...Chinese messed me up!

That's a really impressive resume, Yoshitsune, you must've put in some serious studying. Good luck with your Japanese and if you ever need help with anything around here let me know.

Are you planning to go to Japan someday?

Thanks Gold! I've never been to Japan yet...it's so weird, but as I said somewhere before, Japan's always come to me (eg. exchange students I hosted, and japanese contests ) Eventually I will. I'd love to immerse myself there for a while :)

Well I learned English at school and Spanish at home, then Latin, Greek and Japanese in high school, so they were fun but they were school-related so I had to study hard for them to get into the school I wanted to to continue focusing on Japanese (Tufts University). Then Chinese I took it on a whim since I wanted a new language, and it was it. I was going to take Russian too at some point..hehe

It doesn't take me much actually, especially if I'm on a roll and I really find the manga I'm translating interesting!!

But these weekly Naruto translations help speed up my translations since I want to have them ready for people to read as fast, but as accurately as possible~~
