It is so sad to see how he turned into the punching bag of the Uchihas.

When he mattered - mostly in P1 - he was the embodiment of horror.

He wreaked havoc in shinobi style, not nuking everything left and right.

Wished Kishimoto had given him at least one encounter with Akatsuki post his defection.

I will always remember him from P1 as the most terrifying villain ever.

A bit annoyed Jiraiya outranked him. This guy spent two years with Naruto and the latter came back only knowing how to make a bigger Rasengan. Actually, even Kakashi outranked Orochimaru?! WTF, this guy is probably the biggest bum in the whole series

OK , good to see Gaara tht high. He is one of the very few shinobis who has seen both aspects of naruto world and tht also makes it more believable as to how he can relate to sasuke and naruto both.
He once was a kid, who was ostracized by his family and village, yet he still had tht one person, who believed in him and him turning sides as per 4th's order showed how the loss of only character pushed him to edge and tht very darkness. This can relate to both sasuke and naruto alike. Naruto faced same stigmatization by the village and also just had one person to rely on later, iruka , whose loss would have made naruto go on rampage like gaara too.

The clashes of Gaara and naruto was more of what naruto would have been in those conditions vs what naruto was since he made more bonds. Truly, one of the best clash in initial naruto. And also goals too. If gaara taught naruto, what he could have been if he stayed in darkness more, naruto taught him how to come to the side of light by fighting for it like him and having a goal.

The way Gaara is relatable to sasuke is how he went rogue once he lost yashamaru , the person close to him and he walked in darkness since then. Sasuke lost his family , and in vengeance killed itachi, but learning his truth drove sasuke to darkness .

As for his duty, he really was able to rationalize as in how to separate personal emotions and do the duty as demanded by the position.

Naruto is probably the only series that can get this level of lip service. People can write essays from memory because that's how much it meant at some point, or how much time you spent discussing it years ago. Maybe Bleach too?

Well, u can say, it runs both ways. Not to forget the nostalgia too.

Yeah, Garra was great. Aside from his final haircut which is by far the dumbest looking haircut in the series. He's a grown man with "little boy's mom did his hair for his first day of prep school" hair.

Didn't make my list because I never felt like Kishi really did enough with him but his story overall was definitely one of the best. And I'd definitley think he should be really high on this list. Above Nagato for sure. In hindsight sort of wish I'd put him above Naruto actually.

Not to jump the shark (as Bleach is coming up soon), but I'm not sure I could go on anywhere near as much about Bleach as I can for Naruto

I could talk about how much I dislike Aizen (that might generate some debate, I guess)
but I'm pretty sure my hatred for the Quincy will be more widely shared - and I'd be shocked if we found more than a handful of people who were willing to bat for the Fullbringers...
