You didn't understand where i was going with Mra and Gray not being comparable to Zeref. I'm not saying we should disregard every negative feat from Zeref, i'm making an exception for the latest chapter which makes the least ammount of sense out of every manga chapter i've read thus far. (Though i didn't read a whole lot so this isn't that huge coming from me but you get the point).

Feel free to think Zeref is weak and never proved anything throughout the manga. That's debatable, but i could agree, or we could get a middle ground. But judging Zeref VS Invel by saying "Invel froze Base Natsu and that same Base Natsu one shot Zeref" is wrong in my opinion. The Base Natsu from the latest chapter was INSANELY ridiculous. It's like saying Zeref is Bakel level sincethey got demolished the same way by the same character in the same mode.
Or saying Ichiya > Jellal because his magic made Acno lose his grip while Jellal's attacks didn't damage him at all. Or that Christina is physically stronger than Igneel. The latest chapter made no sense whatsoever and was in total contradiction with what happened before (Zeref toying with DF Natsu for instance).

I agree that in this tournament we have to judge based on what Mashima wrote. But there's a limit to how much bullshit/PiS/PoF i can take. I respect the fact that you, amongst several others, will take every feat into consideration even those from the latest chapter. I'm not willing to do that, since in my humble opinion, the Zeref VS Natsu ending was incredibly absurd.

I'm not trying to force you feel the same way, in fact i gave up on trying to convince people. That's the reason why i'll stop participating in the tournament.

I agree with you, the amount of BS over the last few chapters have been enduring on our part.

You probably know how much I hate the events of last chapter. I was always among the first guys to publicly announce my hatred and annoyance for last chapter and every other chapter before that.

Unfortunately, I've been dealing with the BS throughout the whole arc, and I even took into account Gray and Mira's ridiculous performance when I voted to eliminate them in previous rounds.

I didn't like the fact that people like God Serena (who is borderline featless) surpassed them, but I had to just go along with the BS.

This is the same case for Zeref. I already went through with Gray, Mira, and God Serena... so I'm not about to stop at Zeref.

The way I see it, I'll vote whatever Mashima wants at this point. But that would be unfair to my favorite characters if people who do not deserve to win actually passed this round.

I only voted for Serena based on the little we've seen and the hype he's gotten.

I understand you 100%. I guess i accepted the BS for a while as well and this latest chapter was just the last straw that broke the camel's back. Plus imho that particular BS was more stupid, by far, than what we'd seen thus far. The only thing coming close to it was Erza destroying that meteor with no bones left.

But i guess i talked enough on the matter.:derp

So how did Erza get 19 votes against August? Or to put it more precisely, how was Erza optimized and August downplayed in order to bring about those 19 votes?

In another note, I am contemplating on making conceptual distinctions among emotional powers: (0) there's the default mood shift from casual to serious, which is not a power up per se but a mere change in the use of one's powers; (1) there's the ordinary boost that can be used by anyone, including antagonists, although this isn't always explicit and may be conflated with serious mode, plus this presupposes that the setting acknowledges emotions as power sources; (2) there's the more powerful boost that only certain characters, often the protagonists and their allies, get to use as narrative devices, even if it means bending the normal ways of the setting or our assumptions and elaborations of the setting, for the sake of plot or theme; (3) and then there's the blatantly exceptionalist and hyperbolic power boost overcoming whatever odds that isn't so much about making a statement but is rather used to finish things quickly

I would definitely like to have a better understanding of friendship magic. Natsu was clearly thinking about his friends at the beginning of his fight with Zeref yet he wasn't able to one shot him until he got fairy heart. Did his love for his friends grow during the course of the fight and is friendship magic something that needs to be charged up to reach optimal potential through thinking about your friends for an extended period of time? Does it multiply someone's base power proportional to their level of friendship or does it add set amounts of power as their friendship emotions grow? Natsu and Erza are always thinking about their friends so why is their use of friendship magic so inconsistent? And is their any limit to friendship magic? How strong would August be if he managed to get friends? I know friendship magic is pretty illogical and inconsistent but it might be interesting to look for rules, trends, and categories. It's probably the most important and powerful magic in the series so I wish it was explained better

Somehow August vs Erza was as arguable as Laxus vs Gray based on the votes. Don't understand how anyone could see Erza not getting destroyed by August, not even Gildarts stood a chance.

But that problem if ur not using POF/PIS this tournament would be fair and we can using logical feats but since POF/PIS is added (especially the latest chapter) i using that logic against them but people will disagree with it. For me if ur gonna use a logic til stick it thru the end don't switch it up. Also hype comes with feats if I dint have decent feats ur hype is debunked. Hype=\= feats most of the time. Zeref feats are not top tier is my point. Base natsu is the strongest in FT as much as I hate saying that it's the truth. @~Charging Lightning~ bro not really natsu has always needed help or powerhouse to beat the main villain we all know if natsu has a temporary power up he is the strongest or close to it but keyword "temporary up" plus main villain will show greats feats to keep up with it. But as for the natsu vs zeref this was A class BS like base natsu of all people beat zeref the so called "strongest villain" with a base no name causal punch that unheard of in shounen manga and the main villain show little to no feats in the manga like come on??? Bro why do think that invel beat zeref?? (Plus he is restricted)

Exactly bro even the POF is inconsistent itself so why is that when we use it in the tournament with logic and reason it works for certain characters not all???

From 523 - 536, Natsu had to talk about friends, family, or the guild about 6 times before he was able successfully enter Ultimate Friendship Emotion Base Mode. Shouldn't we take this into account for Natsu's future match ups?

Natsu's always going to talk about friends/family. He's the MC, the main conduit for Hiro's main message and themes. So the speech count is irrelevant imo. How you account for PoF in battle related discussions is up to the user.

Damn. My faves are getting the shorter end of the stick. Luck of the draw I guess. :8C

Hopefully the quarters will revive my excitement.

Try being a Gray and Jellal fan :emocat:crying
Or even a Zeref fan, I swear the writing in this manga is legit crippling sometimes :errr
The gap in power between Gray-Laxus and Jellal-Gildarts ain't that significant though.

Gajeel against Irene is a whitewash in the waiting. Would have been more fun and exciting if Gajeel were to face either Mari or Randi.

Hope he can garner at least more sympathy votes than nakamamacita Plotza. :emocat

Can I ask, is Universe one in Irene's arsenal for the tourney ? Since that BFR can change a few things.

BFR isn't considered a condition for victory.

Battlefield Removal does not count as a win
As such, there'd be no use for Irene to cast Universe One. You could probably say that she needs to prepare it too, for it to be used in battle. Universe One isn't restricted though.

Isn't that a little weird? How can her opponent fight her when they're BFRed to another country?

Characters are fighting to win. So, if BFR isn't a condition for winning, then Irene wouldn't bother to use it, since she's trying to win.

A win is achieved when a character can continue fighting but their opponent cannot
All characters are fighting to win at all costs

Isn't it technically a win if she's striping her opponent off his/her ability to fight back? What is considered a win then, a fatality? I'm asking because I see her ability no different than Jacob's displacement; only the location of displacement is different. So if she can't win with BFR then that limits Jacob's chances to get far big time.

OK. What if Irene BFRs her opponent to the very depts of the Ocean? A place of abject Darkness, where they're either die under such crushing psi, drown or just cannot fight back at all (like Acno, until Universal One was dispelled).

A win means she's beaten her opponent. A fatality is one way to generate a win. Essentially anything that stops the opponent from continuing. A knockout will do for example.

Yes they're quite similar in a 1 vs 1 context. Jacob said he could kill people in his transport dimension. Though just using transport to BFR an opponent wouldn't get him a win (he is eliminated).

There's no restrictions on Universe One, so if you think she can do what you said, then you can make a case for it in Irene's battle threads.
