Just because we don't know who it is doesn't mean the traitor doesn't exist. And, just because it hasn't been revealed doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Hori introduced the concept himself. It's simply not a plot point he wants to reveal now because it would make a big impact in the story and he wants to save the reveal for the perfect moment.

One perfect moment could be using the traitor to kidnap Eri. Something where the traitor will be forced to reveal who they are in the process.
I just proposed that as a crackpot theory. At a bare minimum we know for a fact a leak exists, since the plot is literally impossible without one. And sure, heroes in this series have brought this up a number of times. And of course, the most likely scenario is that there actually is a specific traitor. But given recent developments I do think sheer incompetence would actually explain what has been happening. A traitor is without a doubt the most likely scenario but the idea that heroes are so inept that they just keep leaking this information somehow (via someone gossiping, backdoor to their communications, talking about this type of thing within earshot of a villain) is at least plausible. Most of the stuff the heroes plan ends up failing so the same applying to their security makes sense.

Little proof? The author himself brought up the concept.
in-universe they don't seem to have any leads. out universe the characters that have gotten the most focus have shown actions that would go against an AFO spy.

Horikoshi brings up the notion of a traitor backed up by security breaches only to dismiss it as incompetence? It was all a lackluster red herring? That doesn't sound like a good way to tell a story. I believe Horikoshi is a better author than that.

I just generally find it strange how people ignore hints Horikoshi drops in the series. He loves dropping clues to his mysteries. All For One's doctor being Ujiko, Camie being Toga, Dabi being Touya, he has always left something of a hint to where he's going with the story. The traitor issue is no different.

Then, maybe they aren't the spy. Why does the spy have to be a character with a lot of screen time? I think making it someone who hasn't gotten much time in the spotlight would make more sense.

Wait, there were security breaches? I could have forgotten of course but I don't recall any specific security breaches ever being attributed to information leaks. Add to that, it'd be weird if they identify a security breach that could potentially cause an intel leak but they have no way to address it.

The security breach was caused by Shigaraki decaying the gate which let the news crew get in and caused all that commotion in the school after the alarms rang.

Wait, but what does that have to do with a traitor? There's no obvious reason why this door being destroyed would aid a traitor inside. Either to get the information regarding the imminent training exercise or months later during the mountain training.

No clue but the other guy brought it up as a reason for the traitor plot when that security breach was just caused by Shigaraki. Unless they're talking about smthn different that I'm not remembering.

Shigaraki knowing about the USJ trip was a security breach. So was the League learning about the Summer Camp. Neither one of those were meant to be public knowledge.

Does anyone actually have any ideas on WHO the traitor could be? It seems people here acknowledge the existence of a traitor but what evidence is there to say who it is? Because I don't think the story has done a good job at handling that.

Name any character at random and I bet someone somewhere thinks they're the traitor. I, for one, think it's Hagakure AKA Invisible Girl based on the clues Horikoshi has given the readers. Here are some explanations from others on why:

I don't think Horikoshi forgot the traitor plot. Chapter 242 talked about the possible traitor isn't among the students.

I bet Horikoshi just preparing the revelation to shock us all.

I'm still betting on the teachers.

Or maybe the information leak isn't from conventional traitor...

I think aoyama is the traitor, maybe he doesn't even know that he is, the belt that he always wear maybe it is given to him by dr ujiko in case he was his doctor so maybe it is preventing aoyama's quirk side effect and also working as a spy tool in the same time

I do not, is he there as well ?
Yep. And, there's no indication whatsoever he's a traitor. Quite the opposite. The series shows just how straight-laced Tsukauchi is.

I think there is no traitor, or maybe there was at some point but it’s now a dead plot point that will never be brought back up.

The traitor must be someone whose revelation is shocking to the reader, but for obvious reasons of consistency he can't be a character we have a POV for.
