seems we're seeing the positive feedback of nature this time around, and at least that tells us we're beyond the middle of the farmland saga now...

314 out. I'm guessing... by the time they reap the benefits of this hard work, Musashi'll be ready to move on from the farm... and take Iori with him.

Wow, major development in this chapter. He decides to heed the advice of Takuan and serve a lord, in this case the lord of Kokura, but not for himself and his ambitions, which are not really connected with serving a daimyo, but for the villagers who are starving due to the lack of food and success in farming (at least that´s what i get from the pictures). That´s a huge development for him because 1) his decision is based on the desire to help others and 2) with the decision to leave for Kokura, he also decides to give up on the challenge imposed upon himself and with that, can somewhat deattach himself from his ego and the desire to necessarily win.

wow in that last panel I never thought the day would come where Musashi would utter those words! It's maybe the first time ever in the manga where he's done that! such a change of character over time huh.

Art was incredible, the images of starvation were cringeworthy and painful to see. Children, women, men.....skeletons with skin. Musashi asking for help, was really something. Not just for himself, but what really motivated him was Iori was dying.

Assuming that you also read Inoue´s REAL, have you ever noticed a difference between the art in Vagabond and REAL? To be honest, it´s not something i noticed before but lately, due to the overlap of the Vagabond and REAL releases, it became more obvious. It´s kind of hard to describe but if i had to articulate it, i would say Vagabond is more artistic while REAL has a more realistic artstyle.

Really enjoyed this one. The last few pages, especially were painful to see with the effects starvation had taken on the villagers. I think it was primarily Iori's condition that tipped Musashi over the edge to abandon his old ways and seek help; putting others before himself. What growth from a punky young kid, whose only care was to seek stronger opponents and be invincible under the sun.

I think the Farmland saga taught him many things. So that there was really some major character development if I ever saw one.

So much progress lately with these chapters. First of all that colour page of a young Takezou was so remiscent of early Vagobond colourings that were darker in skintone particularly and scenes of his youth always reminded of a peaceful time where all he worried about was becoming the strongest.

Takuan! I absolutely love this character, so it's great to see him again, always bringing comedy and some brightness to the chapters. Hopefully he and Musashi will cross path before too long, maybe he will visit the village, Sado will most likely tell him where he is.

Again, seeing Musashi on his knees, pleading and crying for help for the sake of a small village is just so emotional to me, even Sado the retainer did not recognise his person( aura I guess?) at all. With this provision brought to them, the villagers can focus on trying on bettering their homes and own supplies.
