Yes, thats why I said Amadeus name being mentioned in the same sentence as Byo, and Volk, and Medanore are kinda misleading.

He is not in the level of the other 3. He is 1 or 2 tiers below.
That's not my point though. My points is that Raph losing to Ryoga doesn't really discredit him, especially when the score isn't a wipe out. It's actually 2-6 7-6 6-4.

Well, yeah. I always see Ralph as a strong player. Not just as strong as the Big 3 Captains.(Volk, Byo, Medanore)

And yes. I think the 3 captains I mentioned can perform a better score against Ryoga than what Ralph did. Though it is already impressive.

Anyways, we are off topic

Do you lean on Oni or Amadeus in the matchup?

Wait.

Iirc, Ralph can turn his OWN weaknesses to Strengths. Not opponent's weakness.

Going back,

Volk, Medanore, and Byoudouin clearly beats Amadeus imo.

Now, for UA QP and TNK + Kijin Oni. It is more debatable. But I gonna side with QP and Oni.

So, we have

Volk, Byoudouin, Medanore, Ryoga, QP, Ralph and maybe Oni to be stronger than Amadeus.

That isnt bad at all. More or less 7 Players who can beat him
oh! my bad. that's kinda a broken ability. i think amadeus' base exceeds that of Oni. I mean against Akutsu's 5man 8th consciousness he was adapting to that. it's fair to say he's quite good in speed and technique. A 1vs1 against Oni without it being a Swiss vs Japan match is quite different for Amadeus. i think this way he has more chance. I'd slightly give the edge to him. ofc, Oni could really show us what's he's got and unleash his full power completely.

We never got to see Ralph's tennis against Byodouin, Volk, QP, etc because of Ryoga. i mean he could fair better against someone who doesn't consume his tennis. We're talking about a guy who exposes the opponent's weaknesses and turns them into his strength. Amadeus' tennis is basically a counter/Opposite to Byodouin's. I really don't see Amadeus losing to any player other than the Captains of teams in Semi( and Ryoga).
But Imagine him being lower than Oni, QP, and even Bismarck. that's really awful for a man of his status. i think his tennis can counter Oni's kijin+TNk.
Captain status doesn't really tell us much between countries, nevermind the fact that the gap between players is never clear (if there even is one): Kuraraga is supposedly as good or at least as skilled as Amadeus, both Dorgias and Crawford are better than Jean, Duke was meant to play France's captain and might had been their ace 2 years ago... etc...

We know Bismarck is going pro after this WC and Amadeus turned into one only recently, the gap is not that big.

Ryoga wasn't even trying until the second set, though. It's even implied THAT wasn't him going all out since he only removed his hoodie to break Ralph's service in the final game where he told him "we are gonna settle this now" and Ralph's tennis grew even weaker.

Poll is up!

Oni is imo the winner here.

Amadeus, who finds gaps in his opponents to attack weak points, managed to last 3 sets against Ralph who literally counters that kind of tennis and got his service game broken just once, at the very end of the match. Despite being the loser, imo he comes out looking really strong in that match because of that.

On the other hand, before his match against QP, Oni was called the strongest in Japan by Byoudouin (despite the fact that Byoudouin himself was seen as the best player by the coaches). During that match, Volk said that no one can stand a chance against QP with the Ultimate Quality which should include himself, the best in the world (unless he time loops or, after evolving, tornadoes QP out of his aura, maybe). This was likely, at the time, the strongest player in the whole tournament. And yet Oni was only 1 mm away from turning the tides against him WITH A BROKEN WRIST.

Add that feat to the fact that Oni can split the ball into 10 (it's even listed as a technique) and rally normally with those 10 balls at once, and that this is a counter or at least has him prepared against Amadeus' Dark Side (as seen in Akutsu's match). With that in mind, he also has the match up advantage based on techniques.

Japan is overpowered. Lol

Imagine having 5 Players in the level of a Captain of Top 4-5 Country.

We even created a term of Genius 5 on them here in mangahelper. Lol. Which doesnt exist on their universe. Seems like they respect #6-#10 too. But we all know there is a big gap between them. With Irie at middle.

Going back,

I will go with Oni too. Tnk + Kijin Combo is too much.

Even though that shot went in. I think Oni would have collapsed before the match ended. So I think QP still wins that match really.

But yeah, the fact that he had a chance to battle Ultimate Aura is impressive.

I think there's absolutely nothing indicating he would had collapsed. The score was 3-5 in the final set, too, it was the final sprint.

Would not surprise me if Amadeus was better. He is roughly equal to Ralph who I think is up there.

Most pro level players do not have any problem with TNK and having TNK + Kijin isn't a huge boost since no one has managed to stack them together.

It could go either way really since Amadeus lacks feats besides losing to Ralph in a tight match.

Yes, and that's why it's 2-6 the first set. 7-6 and 6-4 isn't that bad of the scoreboard for second and third set either though. It doesn't show that Raph is down a tier lower for sure.

To me it read like:

1st set, Ryoga isn't trying, can't keep his serve reliably.

Rest of the match: he is trying but on a limiter. Can keep his serve.

Final game: he goes all in and breaks Ralph's serve, who doesn't stand a chance.

So we cannot really learn anything from this match other than the fact that Ryoga is way stronger than him. And this is fine considering we are expecting Ryoga to be as strong as Volk, who in turn would beat Amadeus (leveled with Ralph) handiliy every time if they played, based on Konomi’s interviews.

In case of base, Amadeus! He is a pro! Oni not.
Then TNK!
Oni,Ryoma,Tezuka.
Tezuka's was better than Ryoma's cause he has better base!
Having better base gives a better chance to counters TNK.
Oni returned Kinaro's shot while he was in TNK stat and Oni wasn't.
The fact he is HSer
Msers to Msers in case of TNK, they couldn't counter it with their base but after a hardworking practice finally found a way.
Now:
Amadeus has his own tennis, back in two years ago where Boss was Japan #1 and starts traveling with Duke.
He was destroyed by Amadeus and then revived and shaped his first Kijin?
So he turns the table back and then even counters shadow back then. But the match wasn't over.
We can say he would have take that set while he was on fire.
Next set is something we can't conclude.
...
Now I consider Boss strongest back then and he has this matchup.
So if there was Oni, he would have lose.
Now vs Kintaro he remembers his own power then go further and Activated Light Of Pride.
Oni two years ago was strongest than Amadeus? No.
With TNK no one has a chance even with better status unless you are HSers or ... who facing MSers.
Like Msers vs Msers, Hsers in order to counter TNK they need more than better base stats.
Yukimura with Zero, Fuji, sea weed ...
Has their own techs.
Amadeus got his shadow!
Actusu counters him and then hitting one giant ball, then 8thC.
Managed to take one game out of him.
Shows that he is reachable.
But Actusu wouldn't be able to take a set!
It's like he has 5 gear to show but can't go with more than 3! While Amadus can.
Experience, IQ, Strength, capacity...
He doesn't have enough capacity!
Oni might have capacity to counter Q.P's but he reached his limit. He was out of shape.
Both Amadeus and Ralph has a neck to neck matches until the end.
And yet they could have go another set.
For them match is over
Actusu and Oni were over!
So I choose Amadeus!
He has the ability to find weakness who knows maybe he could have found Ryoga's before he catches him, if they had a match.

Well that what Konomi-San does for players
Gives them a decent exit.
However right after the match Boss told him something like he's been destroyed + but: (another decent stuff) he keeps everyone in higher spirit.

Where did he say that? Cannot check rn but all I remember was Byoudouin saying that losing was shameful and Oni would be punished, but the macth lit a fire on the younger players.

I meant in the votes, lol. Oni had 4 and Amadeus none, now it's 5-4 in Amadeus' favour.

The closest Matchup we had was

QP VS Toku. Which QP won 8-7 Votes.

I wonder if this will be like that too.

I find it interesting that Amadeus is winning since I had Oni in a higher tier altogether.

As in:

Base Volk =< Ultimate QP
Amadeus has no chance against Volk
But an injured Oni has a chance against Ultimate QP

Not gonna lie. I dont buy that he has chance against Ultimate QP.

Or if there is I dont think it is 50% or higher.

Maybe what 10%??? At most

Base Volk can just Infinite Loop UA QP though. Will Ultimate Aura cancel the Loop???

We do not know the numbers. Regardless, even with that very bad estimate, 10% is already better than 0.

Having said all of that.

Yes no way. Oni should win this matchup. TNK + Demon Kijin.

Maybe? It's implied the loop shouldn't had worked on Byoudouin in the first place anyway, he lowered his Mental on purpose to make his Pirate stronger.

Whenever I mention that Oni was injured I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. There's a chance he cannot let the Demon "take the reins" if he doesn't give up on his body (which sounds hard to do if there's nothing wrong with it). As dumb as it sounds this buff may rely on him being injured, lol.
