Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Kanojo is the new Aoki Kotomi series, hardly surprising it's a big deal. They even pulled a Toriko and released two volumes at a time. Rinne gets that treatment next week. Not a fan but I really want to see how that one sells. I'm not surprised Medaka and Akaboshi missed the charts; new series, even from Jump, don't always chart with volume one. It's not that big a deal.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Good to see Reborn! & Detroit Metal City up there ;')

Kinda sad that Akaboshi didn't chart, but well ... that's life!

[Kaiten]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I expect Reborn to chart high. Seeing it at number two was no surprise. It's been a best seller for years now.

so...what other non-gag jump series didnt get on the chart with volume one and didnt get canceled?

Psyren and Kuroko no Basket are the only ones i know of

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Kuroko and Psyren come to mind.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

correct me if i'm wrong, but first volumes of Medaka and Akaboshi were released this week right? (or is it next week?)
so they didn't even get ranked?

But but the amazon pre-order sells were high no way it would have sold this low! lol Again this shows that you can't use amazon sells/pre-order as an indicator as to how well it's gonna sell.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Nice to see Coppelion and Hyakko on the list. And Holy crap One piece, does one Volume just stay in the list until another can take it's place? :-P

It would appear so Can't remember what volume but one of the ones from this year charted until it was past 1.9 million copies!

This is Coppelion's first time charting, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

It's good to see mago and toriko staying in the top ten

[Kaiten]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Both will break 200,000 volumes this time out. I wish sales could have gone up a little more compared to last volume though.

Really now? I could swear I saw Coppelion reach the top 20 at least once before this. It's a pretty decent seller. *Sigh* If it were Shounen I could even translate it....Guess I gotta start hitting the (Japanese) books more.

But wow. Not that OP doesn't deserve it, but that's stupidly sick. (In the best sense of something being stupid lol.) Glad that at least at home it's getting the respect it deserves.

When 55 first came out, Volume 54 was still charting. So it's even more than that.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I have a question. Does tohan ranking more reliable than oricon ranking, or vive versa?

[Kaiten]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Tohan is not a national chart. They are a distributor. They report their sales to Oricon.

30. Touhou Bougetsushou - Silent Sinner in Blue: Final Volume (21,923/49,441)(Comic REX)

Not an impressive week. Only Hayate sold over 100,000 copies. Rumiko Takahashi returned; I'm not sure what I was expecting but missing the top ten was lower then I thought. But when you consider that Inuyasha was selling around 80,000 it's first week towards the end, about 50,000 is pretty solid. Maybe after fellow manga "hall of famers" Naoki Urasawa and Takeshi Obata have returned with big hits my expectations were a bit skewed.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Nice to see Kindaichi still sells well. Hope that Toei's gonna do another OVA soon....

(Also hopes that someone will sub the TV series...)

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I'm a little disappointed in Zetman. Sales are good but nothing great, yet it is a great series. Shame. St. Young Men continues to impress. Peacemaker did better then I thought, shame I didn't like it.

[Rejuvenation]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Hayate still going strong. Kami almost broke the 100K barrier. I'll be happy if the next volume manages to pull that off.

It is nice to see Sora no Otoshimono chart. Hopefully it has a good 2nd week too.
