It is also possible that the one on the left is Raku's secret crush. Hence, it might really form a triangle.

Nisekoi and Harisugawa are going to cannibalize each other... The shonen romance genre is having rough times as it is, and now there's two of them going head-to-head. Not good.

Um..yeah....not sure have I feel about the two heroine thing and the slight change in art ...

I want Naoshi to last longer than his last go around. I'm not sure if the readers will go for this.

Just hoping for the best right now.

Sket Dance being in the top 5 at a consistent rate makes me really happy. Hopefully it'll continue that way for the rest of the year.

Sad to see Enigma go, but it was inevitable IMO.

Is Amazon a reliable source to predict tank sales?

It really isn't. It doesn't reflect much real data and changes every hour or so. Most people buy manga from bookstores. There are places all over Japan to buy manga.

From ANN:

So this new one sounds like a history/action one then o.O
no, it is a gag manga.

Hmm, now that I have a second look at the new artwork, I think it could grow on me.

Wow, Bakuman just suddenly sky-rocketed there after weeks at the mid-bottom. And Magico's playing the Reborn! thing... Sket Dance going down Kuroko going up. This TOC is interesting..

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Imho Beelzebub's last rankings are right. This is like the third training arc in 30 chapters, it's ridiculos. I hope that from now on we'll have a serious, long and thrilling fight arc, filled with plot twist, unexpeted fight and so on.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Nisekoi not getting a Center Colour for its second chapter?

I wonder if Jump is going back to making chapter 4 the mandatory Center Colour and not chapter 2?

It appears that they are going to gang up on Madara, but the chapter ends here and next week Kishi is on a break.

Also Naruto will be on a break next week oO

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

WSJ Issue #40 Pure Rankings, based on ToC from Issue #48:
NOTE: after checking various rankings, I decided that number in brackets will be 8 weeks ago counting this one (in other words, chapter 1 is ranked in issue where chapter 8 is published). I'll leave the ~symbol to remind people that we don't just know with 100% certainty which system is correct... nor if the 8 chapters rule has changed. Look at the numbers purely as that or AROUND that chapter, not as exactly that chapter

01. Bakuman (~c148)
02. One Piece (~c637)
[OP was absent in Issue #43 so it will be 7 chapters ago for for now and few more weeks]
03. Naruto (~c555)
04. Medaka Box (~c114)
05. Kuroko no Basket (~c133)
06. Bleach (~c464)
07. Kurogane (~c03)
08. Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa (~c10)
09. Sket Dance (~c201)
10. Reborn! (~c352)
11. Inumaru Dashi (~c146) [ID was absent in Issue #44]
12. ST&RS (~c11)
13. Kochikame (c??)
14. Magico (~c27)
15. Beelzebub (~c124)
16. HunterXHunter (c??)

7 more weeks till ranked: Nisekoi
Gintama (~c369), Nurarihyon no Mago (~c170) not ranked due to having color pages in this issue
Toriko (~c157) absent and thus the rank is unknown

Q: How does the voting work?
A: In every Issue of WSJ, there are questionnaires. On it Readers, choose their 3 favorite chapters and supposedly fill some personal info. It is possible that gender and age affect the weight of the vote, but I don't think thats been confirmed.

Q: How does the counting of votes work?
A: WSJ takes a sample of x questionnaires and counts them (counting all would take too much time). And yes, that does mean that luck can affect your position a little bit.

Q: Why do color pages and absent chapters in this issue stop us from seeing rankings from 8 weeks ago when the chapters were normally published? It makes no sense!
A: It does: we get this info from ToC, short for Table of Contents, which is BASED on the rankings, not an official ranking list. Table of Contents shows only chapters present in the current Issue (so if a Manga is absent, it doesn't appear in ToC thus we can't see its rankings) while Color Page chapters have proved to not be ranked but appear around the center.

Q: What do rankings affect?
A: Primarily, chances of cancellation. Manga that spends weeks at bottom has a high chance of being canceled.

Q: Does anything else affect chances of cancellation?
A: Yes. If Anime is airing, the series is safe (never was a series canceled while the Anime aired, tough both may have ended naturally). Tankobon Sales also affect chances so if a Manga sells well enough, it will be safer.

Q: Is it right that well selling Manga that have bad rankings are moved to Jump SQ?
A: From what I have seen, no. The theory is based on To-Love-Ru and D.Gray-man getting moved there. However, TLR's Mangaka had family issues while DGM's Mangaka got a hand injury as is now barely able to follow monthly schedule.

Q: Are the rankings itself 100% accurate?
A: Not necessarily. It is based on real rankings and the Editor in Chief, who makes the ToC, is free to change the positioning. Still tough, it doesn't matter: if he changed positions, that means that WSJ gives that Manga special privileges.

Q: How do we know that it is around 8 weeks ago?
A: Info from Jump Insiders (whose plausibility has been proven) and the rule proved to be often enough correct for us to follow it

Q: Hey, I am 100% sure, tough without proves, that it ain't exactly 8 wee-
A: AROUND. It is that or around that chapter. PLEASE, there were already around hundred of people like you coming to that idea and starting big discussions over nothing! Unless you have STRONG proofs, please stay quiet.
