Q: How does the voting work?
A: In every Issue of WSJ, there are questionnaires. On it Readers, choose their 3 favorite chapters and supposedly fill some personal info. It is possible that gender and age affect the weight of the vote, but I don't think thats been confirmed.
Q: How does the counting of votes work?
A: WSJ takes a sample of x questionnaires and counts them (counting all would take too much time). And yes, that does mean that luck can affect your position a little bit.
Q: Why do color pages and absent chapters in this issue stop us from seeing rankings from 8 weeks ago when the chapters were normally published? It makes no sense!
A: It does: we get this info from ToC, short for Table of Contents, which is BASED on the rankings, not an official ranking list. Table of Contents shows only chapters present in the current Issue (so if a Manga is absent, it doesn't appear in ToC thus we can't see its rankings) while Color Page chapters have proved to not be ranked but appear around the center.
Q: What do rankings affect?
A: Primarily, chances of cancellation. Manga that spends weeks at bottom has a high chance of being canceled.
Q: Does anything else affect chances of cancellation?
A: Yes. If Anime is airing, the series is safe (never was a series canceled while the Anime aired, tough both may have ended naturally). Tankobon Sales also affect chances so if a Manga sells well enough, it will be safer.
Q: Is it right that well selling Manga that have bad rankings are moved to Jump SQ?
A: From what I have seen, no. The theory is based on To-Love-Ru and D.Gray-man getting moved there. However, TLR's Mangaka had family issues while DGM's Mangaka got a hand injury as is now barely able to follow monthly schedule.
Q: Are the rankings itself 100% accurate?
A: Not necessarily. It is based on real rankings and the Editor in Chief, who makes the ToC, is free to change the positioning. Still tough, it doesn't matter: if he changed positions, that means that WSJ gives that Manga special privileges.
Q: How do we know that it is around 8 weeks ago?
A: Info from Jump Insiders (whose plausibility has been proven) and the rule proved to be often enough correct for us to follow it
Q: Hey, I am 100% sure, tough without proves, that it ain't exactly 8 wee-
A: AROUND. It is that or around that chapter. PLEASE, there were already around hundred of people like you coming to that idea and starting big discussions over nothing! Unless you have STRONG proofs, please stay quiet.
