IMO, there are enough series right now and I don't think SJ needs to axe anything for around a year.
But I can't guess how WSJ thinks... especially now that there was a change in management.

Is ST&RS already getting a color?! When was the last time that a new serie got a color page in chapter 4?
Yeah, looks like Stars is popular among the readers. Which is good, of course. I don't want it to get cancelled.

There are quite a few times that a couple early colors show up for a new series.

I saw a bit of conversation about the "Golden Age" of Jump, and I sort of have to agree with "Ring ni Kakero" being the starting point of the age in '77 (or maybe about the harbringer of the age), with Kochikame (having started in '76) about the last vestage of the previous, more innocent era of Jump. "Ring ni Kakero" is essentially the first series to "mutate" from something more realistic (a boxing manga) into something much more insane (super-powered punches and bigger than life battles) and just began laying the groundwork for the future. Kinnikuman probably is the next major step into said age, with Dr. Slump's arrival pretty much allowing for these series and others to gain exposure due to the explosion of the magazine with Toriyama's assistance. Of course one thing of note about the prelude to the age is that a few members who would assist in making this age were already at the magazine, with both Buronson and Miyashita already making manga pre-Dr. Slump and with their respective series during the early part of the age (Hokuto no Ken and Otokojuku) merely assisting it along. And that's not getting into a lot of those who were along with the age or doing something else entirely that gained exposure through it. (Tsubasa, Kimengumi, etc)

The last time that series get color this early was Toriko.

is there a need to axe a series just for hxh? i mean it's only for a few weeks in there. it would be bad to loose one of this promising series and then get a boring one after hxh ended. it not looks like jump gets interesting mangas for serialization every month, that they could afford to throw away everyone after 10 weeks. it's not possible to sort series now out. the top spots already taken, so there is barely a chance o avoid the bottom 5.
I don't think anything will end just for hxh. Hunter's place can be made by Golden Future Cup one shots' place.

Also.. Just as a request for you Mr. Prince, how would you write "Jump Golden Age" in japanese?? (In hiragana or kanji or whatever you write it on please, I want to do some searching LOL)
Oh, sure! There are two ways to put it. Either (週刊少年)ジャンプのゴールデンエイジ, or the more common expression (週刊少年)ジャンプの黄金時代. Have fun. :tem

A few comments on this week's TOC:
Mildly impressed that Ikkyuu does not show up in this week's Bottom 5. I expected it to plummet this week after last week's position.
Love the fact Kuroko crashed hard. I could never stand that series...
No One Piece next week sucks ass.

And I don't wanna be a party pooper, since I was one of the first to support the series, but I think Ohana pulled a classic Japanese on us with ST&RS getting Color Pages next week. Next week's Gold Future Cup entry is called -SINS- and every GFC entry gets a CP. Yet, -SINS- does not appear on her preview for next issue. So I think she might have confused the two series, written in Roman letters and both starting with "S"... just my keen guess here but the whole thing seems too fishy to me.

There's still no news on color for Ikkyuu, it didn't dropped to bottom (it actually increased than last issue), so I though I can lookforward for its color.

Is that means either new series have to be on top 5 to get color or Ikkyuu will drop to bottom in future?

Someone from AP mentioned that Oda apparently fell sick and it's... hmm, an emergency. But OP returns in the issue after the next, so I guess it isn't much of an emergency.

Enigma... ;_;

But things are also rough for Kuroko and Nura. And Bleach, but that unwarranted color page covers that up.

Hi,

I have a question.
Does anyone here who reads Jump know the results of the 47th Treasure Award?

Reason I'm asking is because I entered the contest myself and I don't know if Shueisha bothers contacting people personally. (whether they win a prize or not)
Honestly I don't expect to have won anything, but I put a lot of time into making it so I want to be 100% sure.

The results are supposed to be "early july", so they might already have been published.

If anyone could check for me, that'd be great!:tem

I really like the first Chapter from ST&RS, hope the japanese people too xD
I'm glad to see it get color pages.
And Beelze is higher now, I hope the rank from last week won't happen again so fast.
Enigma is in bottom 5 :/ I'm not happy with that.
Mhh, I wonder which series the Jump will cancel next.

Good for Bleach we don't know how it ranked :D
Surprised to see Ikkyuu 6th.

And I should read ST&RS if it's really so good.

I knew it. After reading the first chapter yesterday I immediately got the feeling that this is not a series that will poll well in Jump, but after seeing that it gets a color page so soon I thought highly of the Jump readers and got hope which is crushed now. Well I should keep hoping that it will survive even if I’m 99% sure that it will not have more than 9 chapters.

Why do you say that? I actually had the exact opposite feeling, I think that ST&RS will poll well. It reminds me a little of Bakuman, its unconventional but still really good.

I am very happy to see Ikkyuu out of the bottom five so quick. Considering that it keeps getting better, I expect it to keep polling high. No offense to fans but I am rooting against Magico. I would rather Magico get canceled than Ikkyuu or St&rs. This bottom five is skewed by the presence of Kochikame though. It will not ever be canceled, so for all intensive purposes is unranked.

I think I just came to a sad realization. If all of the new series actually survive the chopping block, Enigma may be the sacrificial lamb for Hunter X Hunter. I would like to think that having been in the bottom 5 for only 2 weeks since it;s start(and not consecutively) would be enough to save it, but I'm not exactly sure. Though I guess I should wait and see how things go before I start panicking.
Negativesyndicate is right, HxH will replace the Golden Future Cup. A suitable number of series were already canceled: shinigami, grimm, and sengoku were replaced by two new series and a six week run of one shots. Golden cup will either end with the August double issue with HxH coming back after the holiday.

if a series must go it should be mago or kuroko, both series i don't enjoy much and don't expect to get better in the long turn.
Something has to be canceled for HxH to return, or to launch a series of one shots. HxH will replace the golden cup, so none of the new series are in danger. The flip side is that when HxH goes on hiatus, it saves another series. The space it vacates will be used for a new series, sparing a low ranking series from cancellation. HxH will likely go on hiatus again in late November or early December, just in time to make room for a new series in issue one, two, or three.

It would have been in the top five. Naruto never drops out of the top five. Most likely the top three :)

It's to soon to predict if St&rs will poll well, but genre should not hurt it, only help it. New action series have to compete against established action series. But fans of slice of life, RomCom, and school life have fewer chooses to vote for, and new series are more likely poll in the middle. That's not enough for auto top five, but it can help keep a new series out of the bottom. Having two new non-action, non-sport series will be interesting. I wonder if they will compete for votes.
