Pretty good ToC this week in my head. I don't mind Bleach being a more "middling" series actually considering it just feels right there. That way it isn't in the top and it won't piss off it's fans for being in the bottom tier. Do like though that we have Sket and Medaka in the top five though and Reborn is getting a nice rebound too. (either because of the whole Varia return for their short arc or this was around the start of the current arc)

As of this week Enigma has had its 52nd chapter and now has enough chapters for its 6th Tankobon Volume.

If it's going to be cancelled it will most likely be either next week (Issue #45) or the week after (Issue #46) with a larger than average final Tankobon (Kanata Seven Change, Mx0, Chagecha etc). If it can survival until Issue #47 it should be pretty safe for a couple of weeks.

ST&RS is 2 chapters off having a minimum for a complete 2nd Volume Tankobon and 4 chapters off having a maximum. If ST&RS can make it to Issue #49 it should be safe for a couple of weeks.

Magico is 4 chapters off having a minimum for a complete 4th Volume Tankobon and 6 chapters off having a maximum. If Magico can make it to Issue #51 it should be safe for a couple of weeks.

A series can also be cancelled before the neccessary amount of chapters needed for a Tankobon. In which case usually a oneshot of the series or another oneshot by the author is added.

I'll still trust what Fin had said before. I don't think any of them will get canceled (the only one that could really have a good conclusion in that time is Magico), considering from this cancellation period from last year to the next, it was late November/early December. At least, you better be right, Finestelaaa~~ :P Well, of course that doesn't mean it'll happen this year, but the three have been fighting at bottom, so the editorial department will definitely taking this into account.

Am glad Magico and ST&RS rankings are better this week. GO Reborn.:) I don't mind where Bleach is this week though with Rukia's return and Ichigo getting his powers back I thought it would be higher, oh well.

TOC looks good, ST&RS is rising a bit and Medaka Box in top 5 and another color page :zomg

only thing bothering me is Enigma, looks like it will be cancelled sooner or later. It's a shame

Reborn being at 4th? Looks like the fans like Flan :amuse

Well, that issue prove my opinion that the ranked chapters is from 8 weeks ago including the week of the current issue. So, the Rukia chap. in Bleach was ranked in the previous issue. And this week ranked chap. is 460.

An interesting trend for One Piece, it seems Jump is timing the breaks and color pages not to rank it, since when a color page is introduced the chapter is not ranked and since One Piece was on a break a color page(non-ranking) chapter fits in greatly, I would have to check if they do so for the other series, meaning give them color pages the weeks they used to be on break, so in a few weeks the previous One Piece chapter will not be ranked since there was no chapter and we should expect a color page then as well.

Unfair?

Color page chapters and breaks is when chapters are not ranked, so to fit them together One Piece when it gets a break and when it is time to rank that chapter they put in a color page that is also not ranked.

Love that Stars rose a bit.....maybe it'll survive. I also hope Kurogane does well. It's not that original but very entertaining in my opinion and is actually getting better with each chapter though I'm expecting a death.

Also not sure why everyone has it stuck in their heads Jump won't cancel anything else this year. Sure probably not as many considering Hunter x Hunter (though that is only if it goes away soon) and the space from oneshots. But just because a series doesn't look like it's about to end doesn't mean it won't. There are numerous examples......especially with small series.

Oh wait 633 One Piece was on a break? I thought that was for the next chapter, when it as for the previous one and it's ranking, hm rather confused so it does not follow such a trend, although I just realize that is a good idea. :D

I think it's kind of... dangerous... to follow the ToCs this way. It's not a science. And we're not so sure if it's exactly eight weeks, netheir we know how to count these supposed eight weeks.
So, IMO, take the informations in the rankings at that level can be a little alienating, and lead to some misunderstandings.

I don't think it matters if it's 100% accurate or not. The TOC just tells you general trends anyway. Sometimes there are spikes in rankings (which is how we know that it's eight weeks), but it's pointless to say something like "oh Reborn must have had a crappy chapter because it's in eleventh place". It's possible that every series was really good that week, or maybe a large percentage of Reborn fans just couldn't be bothered voting.

That's why they cancel series that consistently perform badly, rather than series that hit the bottom once.

the top five is pure win in my eyes. sket dance is finally getting what it rightfully deserves. im meh on toriko now but i have confidence it will become good again. MEDAKA IN THE TOP FIVE WOOT! interesting how theres going to be a color next week....hopfully we get anime info or a ova announcment. im not worried about beelzebub at all since it yo-yo's quite a bit im sure it will rise back into the top five soon. it isnt looking good for enigma or magico but if it came down to it magico would be the series that i would be fine with if it ends even though its starting to get good again. also a little off topic but for the current gintama readers have there been any hints about a new action arc since its been awhile we last got one so its probably about time for one.
edit: well speak of the devil http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-4375.html i cant read this very well but it says gainax has been confirmed as the animation studio for medaka box.

Its not a science, it would be more accurately to say its a Social Consciousness Experiment of sort represented by ranking the interest of a certain demography of events of 8 weeks ago (or so we speculate).
Also we have never been approaching the ToC as a science, more like a model or a theory, models and theories can change.

IMO It could be very possible that every now and then exceptions are made in this model (Jaguar, HXH, Kochikame but there might be other cases we have been unaware of), its also possible that there are some "rules" of the ToC we haven´t noticed, imagine for example that its the norm that if there is a thriller manga, ecchi manga and sport manga as new-comers the ecchi-manga won´t be cancelled until after enough material is done to publish 2 tankobon. I know its a wacky example, but all I say is how could we see a pattern like that?

I am not surprised by enigma's position at all. The manga has been consistently boring because of its pace and story all together. The pace is too slow, the story is too boring and bland since many chapters. Beelzebub's low position can be explained due to the seriousness of the arcs. Beelzebub always scores very high when there's some to a lot of comedy in it. The current arc is imo too serious and it has become a generic action shounen. You can disappoint your fanbase with it. It's like bleach without shinigami.

And as for toriko, one word: guemon. It is obvious that such a chapter got higher ratings. One character, one impact. I expect some top 5-6 positions in the near future because of Toriko's slow pace but oh well, all manga have those silly moments

Swap reborn for HxH and the top is basically the same as my personal top 5 right now.

Wish Enigma would go higher but otherwise the ToC's good.

I beg to differ, lol. Despite it being a new arc, I think the low ranking is mainly because very little was defined about the arc other than Sumio going to ride a train. As well as Shigeru being useless. Same with next chapter, new characters, arc is defined a bit more and there's going to be a battle. Not sure it'll do so well as not much else happens, yet every other chapter after that, a turn of events occurs and such.

It looks like Murata (illustrator of Eyeshield 21) will be return with new manga. But, it is not confirmed either he'll be serialized in WSJ or SQ or other place.
