Three times hooray for Kurogane! Things seem to be better, hopefully it will last. I'm kind of looking forward to the capters from cca 8 weeks ago, if Edited Mangas ever reach them.

Bleach, oh jeez, I'm not even commenting on that I guess. Not deserved, it really isn't.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Medaka's anime started airing somewhen around the time Kuroko's did too, right? Interesting how Kuroko has become quite a hit and Medaka stays lingering quite low, and I haven't heared its sales went much up? I've heard good things about Medaka Box (I don't read it), I didn't think it wouldn't become more popular.

8 weeks ago for Gintama would be....the beginning of the Obi Won arc? I'm not surprised....honestly I wasn't crazy about this arc, nor was I really enthused about the Suzuran arc. I'm glad Gintama ranked highly because of it though, since I was getting tired of serious arcs getting trash rankings, but as an arc itself it wasn't that great. Still the fact that Gintama doesn't have a reserved place in the bottom five post-anime is impressive enough. We've seen what happens to series after their anime end....

Assassination is ranking high and I'm loving it. I figure the fact that Matsui has been in here before helps, but I want to think it's because it's a genuinely good series. I really need to start reading Beelze again, I've heard nothing but good things since the Hilda loses her memory arc (where I stopped.) Sket as well. It's funny how Sket's anime hasn't really boosted it's sales much.

Probably has two reasons:

1. The real stuff is only about to start at the second season, together with the biiiiig favourite of nearly every fan. A lot of people didn't like the beginning (I did though) so I guess the second season will decide if there will be a boost.

2. Gainax did a way worse job than I.G. Production. I actually prefer the manga over the first season and I hope Gainax will do better with the second season. A lot of people probably expected more from them that's why the first season was a disappointment for the most.

Medaka Box's rankings differ a lot anyway, f.ex. nearly every chapter that favourite character appears ranks high.

Good rankings except for Bleach and Gintama. I hope Bleach pulls a Reborn and leaves the bottom 5 next week.

Quick question, does Jump sell as much as it did when DBZ, YYH and Ruronin Kenshin were in the magazine? I know that was called the golden age of jump by fans and that circulation was really high but does anyone know the exact difference?

Yup, just take a look at this:

Back in the so called "Golden Age" Jump sold a damn lot more. Not sure about the exact sales but it sold around 6.5 million copies at it's peak and sold less and less since 1995. Sales starting to drop drastically and even though it's probably safe to assume that it had something to do with the end of Dragon Ball it never recovered, despite producing new "hits". Nowadays circulation is a bit below the 3 million mark, which still makes it the most selling manga magazine in Japan but the difference between the "Golden Age" and today is vast: 3,5~ million.

Some expected Jump's sales to drop even more but it stabilized around that mark in the last few years.

That must have been a good Reborn chapter. I'm sure it'll be back home with Bleach in a few weeks though.

I'm surprised Kurogane is making a comeback. It's definitely safe for the next few months if Pajama and Bulge are canceled. And Takama/Koisome will probably tank too, so I think Kurogane is probably safe for the rest of the year.

Next Issue will be the first one where Assassination Classroom will be ranked, right? I'm really excited to see where it's placed.

I can see Toriko, Beelzebub and Assassination Classroom becoming the next 3 big hits in Jump. Nisekoi, Basket and Haikyuu will probably keep ranking high as well.

I'm hoping Kuroko keeps doing a little better in the polls, now that it's getting much better sales since its anime started.
I'm not sure about Beelzebub ever getting super-high. It's kind of always just stayed in that "pretty good" range for Jump. Assassin Classroom is certainly an interesting concept, and very original, but it also needs to maintain that excitement in the long-term. Unless the series is 5 volumes long, the overall story needs to get more complex, I would think, to maintain interest. It can't be 5 years of just a student trying to kill Korosensei and failing every week.

But I will be interested to see what the TOC looks like post-Naruto. Given how it's stayed high this far, it'll probably keep from ever dropping low in its remaining 70 or so chapters.

Jump Issue #38 TOC
Naruto (Cover, Lead CP)
One Piece
Assassination Classroom
Nisekoi
Reborn!
PSI Kusuo Saiki (Center Colour)
Haikyuu!!
Toriko
Kuroko no Basket
Sket Dance
Rurouni Kenshin (Oneshot, Center Colour)
Kochikame
Takamagahara
Kurogane
Koisome Momiji
Beelzebub
Gintama
Bleach
Medaka Box
Sensei no Bulge
Pajama na Kanojo

Bleach really has no business being so low IMO. Medaka Box doesn't even take itself seriously anymore, hasn't for a while, so it likely belongs in that spot.

Bulge seems to be right where it belongs too...I couldn't force myself to keep reading, it just didn't keep me engaged.

Reborn surprises me, and it'll probably be back low soon. Toriko is definitely going to be back in the top 3 thanks to recent events though. :hurr

Can't wait to see Assassination Classroom's first few ranks too, especially for chapters 4 and 5.

In fact, the initial premise already indicates a period of one year to kill Korosensei, so the plot doesn't stretch too much.

I really doubt Beelzebub will become a big hit. Even though it would really deserve it. It's such a great manga.
And for Assassination Classroom to be a long running series with that kind of succes, it probably has to add a good plot to the comedy setting. But it could be possibly for AC imo.

With it's pacing Assassination Classroom could run for a couple of years [~4]. I wonder if it could take on the place than Naruto will open up when it finally ends.

Assuming it lasts long enough to see Naruto's end, I doubt it would take such a place. It's not the same kind of series, and it doesn't appear to be a typical Jump series. Doesn't mean it can't be a hit or have an anime or anything like that though.

i see it more like death note, which became a cult series with incredibly high sells of around 2mio. on the other side, AC could become a underdog for its whole circle. depends on how well a "real" plot/story is established by the mangaka, also how long he can make the series. the longer it is, the more people have a chance to hear about it sometime.

Well, I mean, PLENTY of series use the tactic of the "Simple premise to reel the reader in" and then it becomes a lot more complex as it goes. Like the standard "misson" with the character who has a "goal". Becoming the Pirate King or Hokage or completing a Full Course or finding the person who has the same locket as you or whatever. And then you get the hindrances to that goal and what's required to get to it. It's possibly just not built up yet in Ansatsu Kyoushitsu.
