I think Medaka is a good case of how a well know author can make a series survive, the ranks were bad, but the volumes were selling great (because of the author).. which made it go through the beginning.
Medaka Box didn't really had great sale, especially at the beginning. Medaka Box was able to survive because there were series which did worse that Medaka Box.

Plus, the tank sale isn't going to save series from canellation in Jump.

Shounen Jump = new soccer manga
Jump SQ. = live-adaptation movie of 1/11 Juuichi Bun no Ichi (soccer manga)
Grand Jump = new Captain Tsubasa
Young Jump = new soccer manga

Yup, Shueisha is fully ready for upcoming World Cup.
That's gonna be quite a carnage once the World Cup ends. :P

I don't think Tokyo Wonder Boys will succeed, against Kuroko no Basket and Haikyuu!! at their best. It's more difficult than iShojo against Nisekoi.

Isnt it a bit early to say? I thought it was posted that Kurobas hadnt started that strong (while HQ did). Tokyo Wonder Boys has potential too since the timing and great character designs. If the plot is focused in being a realistic and pure take with no silly gimmicks then I think it could last at least through 2014.

Ponjee, a Taiwanese mangaka, published in Shonen Jump of 28/6/2010, a oneshot, Kiba & Kiba, written by Ichiro Inagaki.

And today, we learn that Ponjee will start this year a new series in a Japanese weekly magazine. We don't know yet what the magazine it is and what kind (seinen or shônen) will be.

I think it is too early to judge for the series which even started yet. I think we should make until it actually serialized.

"Not as strong" is a huge understatement. It was on the verge of cancellation more times than I can count. All the while, this thread spent all its time complaining about it getting "pimped" and wishing for it to die :p So while predicting is fun, until these series actually start and get ranked, there is no concert way to predict squat.

I totally agree with you
And in that case I have another topic that we can actually start discussing now
Assuming that all the 4 new series do well enough to not be cancelled in at least 2 serialization rounds, which series would be sacrificed then?
I mean, by now we all agree that Beelzebub, Cupid, and Hachi are goners this round and Iron Knight will be gone next round (unless it's cancelled this round), but, which other series would be cancelled next round and the next round after that if what I said happens?
Judging from the recent TOC's, my candidates would be Bleach, Saiki, SC, and WT

I'm agreeing on Iron Knight going to get axed on next round. For other one, I don't think Bleach will since it is still popular series. Also, I don't think Saiki is doing bad as compared to SC and WT; so, my bet is either SC and WT (if they rank bad after). BUT, I doubt all 4 new series going to do well for next 2 serialization rounds.

You're reading bleach?
1) Publisher will not close the manga, which generates income
2) Bleach plot not even close to coming to an end
3) Ranking in the journal means absolutely nothing for Bleach
4) Bleach is one of the best selling manga Jump.
5) Kubo finish his manga, when he will be ready

Manga News-Japon is predicting that Koi no Cupid will end in issue eleven, Hachi in twelve, Iron Knight in thirteen, and Beelzebub in fourteen.

1) Publisher will not close the manga, which generates income
Sales declined by about 300,000 200,000 copies per volume since Aizen was defeated. From about 800,000 850,000 to about 500,000 650,000 is a crushing, unacceptable loss. A sales drop of about 30% is a sign of doom. Businesses look at long term projections and mathematical models. They don't just care how much a commodity sells now, but how much it will in the future. Based on declining sales, declining TOC rankings, and losing it's anime, there is little doubt that Bleach's long term future is bleak. Shueisha is a multi-billion dollar company. Weekly Jump is their most profitable enterprise. They are not dependent on the sales of a single declining series. Ending Bleach will not be much of a loss. Maintaining a series with declining sales, popularity, and limited marketing prospects is more costly than allowing it to end. Newer series have already surpassed it in popularity, sales, and merchandising.

2) Bleach plot not even close to coming to an end
It was announced last summer that this will be the last arc.

3) Ranking in the journal means absolutely nothing for Bleach
It means absolutely everything. Bleach's only protection is that it will end soon anyway.

4) Bleach is one of the best selling manga Jump.
Bleach's sales have declined by 35%, it's TOC rank has crashed, and it's anime has ended. It is clearly a series in decline. Treating sales as an ordered list is incorrect. Business is not that simple. Bleach's profile has dropped considerable in recent years. Newer series like Kuroko, Assassination Classroom, Soma, Haikyuu, and Nisekoi have overtaken it in popularity, some have also passed it in sales. If Bleach were to continue indefinitely there is no doubt it's popularity will continue to drop.

5) Kubo finish his manga, when he will be ready
No, he won't. Bleach will not continue indefinitely. It is in it's final arc, and will most likely end in the fall or winter.

I would like to add that there is no chance Bleach is canceled before this arc ends. It definitely is not ending with the next round of cancellations. I only dropped it a few weeks ago, and still have a good idea of the pace. Slow as ever would be a good description. I think it will end this year, but not until October or November. None of the boss fights have started, Ichigo still hasn't shown up. It's not ending within the next three months.

I know.

I'm not saying indefinitely. This tells you. In the story of the material enough for 1 - 1.5 years

It means absolutely everything. Bleach's only protection is that it will end soon anyway.
absolutely nothing. Prematurely terminate the manga which is more than 14 years, it is disrespectful to the army of readers.
Publisher should be ignored more than 600k readers Bleach?
ie people have spent more than 14 years of his life to get a circumcision final?

From about 800,000 to about 500,000
Actually 650k per year ...

Businesses look at long term projections and mathematical models. They don't just care how much a commodity sells now, but how much it will in the future.
In the next 1 - 1.5 years does not have a reason that sales Bleach fall below 500k for Volume
eg
Anime, Manga Bleach sells best anime, manga Toriko
and this:

funny to read this text from a person not working in this publishing.........

You say that Bleach is not profitable? Have proof?

PS
why not finish Kochikame?
Ratings are not great. Current sales are low. Nope anime.

Oh man, this boring thing about Bleach cancelled again? stop with this crap that Bleach could be cancelled in the next round just because the toc, Bleach isn't Beelzebub, this will not happens, not even will ending in 2014, and yes, everybody knows that is in the "final arc".

Ill still remain bullish on my expectation that Bleach will end before we end Spring of this year.

But for the main subject, proposing Kochikame ending is an odd one since I think they are really just keeping it in the magazine just out of tradition and respect and probably to cater to an age group thats not in line with the other typical series.

Soul Catcher(s) is most likely next at risk after Iron Knight unless it continues to outperform World Trigger than unfortunately World Trigger would go. I think Nisekoi would also be ending end of this year unless its anime is truly that split cour thing and is also airing in this summer, then Nisekoi would most likely be able to last longer.

So Id end up going, Soul Catcher(s), World Trigger, Bleach, -> Nisekoi.

Nobody thinks Naruto may be out in the next two or three rounds? It's been ending for years and this seems to me the final fight.
Is it possible to milk it even more?
