I don't think the number arts are a good indicator to predict the series' success, especially from online. I think the popularity from online is pretty biased.
It doesnt seem like its exactly lighting twitter on fire with so few tweets as well.

Hm. Interesting. I wonder how many other series got a deluge of fanart and a massive amount of tweets after only two chapters? Is there a way to find this out?

The one that was reported was at least for Kiruko san which on debut week had 100+ arts.

Is that normal though? Or is that like 'One piece' and 'Shingeki no kyoujin' miracle sales numbers rare? How do we know?

I mean this was only reported because it's rare for something to get fanarts and tweets this early in it's development...and then this series was canceled. So logically speaking, if go by fanart and tweets as a measure of success doesn't this news report you linked suggest that it can be very, very inaccurate? On the off chance that it does happen --despite it not really happening this soon?.... ever?

Well just compare other series (at least on pixiv), mutou black doesnt even have 50arts, smoky bb crossed 100 well after the series ended. Illegal Rare is only at 8 nowwhile Iron Knight is at ~40... I think its at least a fine gauge in the short term to see what is catching fast popularity and etc.

Though it gets problematic later in a series life (World Trigger has double shokugeki soma arts for clear reasons...).

So Beelzebub will get a "spin off" series in JUMP Next. Wonder what that would be about.

I hope it's like a supernatural Yotsubato! featuring Beel, Futaba and friends.
I know that's highly unlikely, but still. My favorite chapters of Beelzebub are the ones that dealt with Futaba or the other kids.

I actually think its possible. Especially since Beel now has a sister. Maybe that's why the sister was introduced at the end? Possible.
I'd be happy as long as its more about jokes than action.

Yeah, it would be nice. The chapters with them were very funny and there were a few of them. Maybe it will happen.
Another possibility, though, is Tamura make a spin off with the adventures of Oga in the demon world, another part of the story underexplored.

I wonder if that Beelzebub spin-off is why Jump NEXT will now be bi-monthly... I hope it'll provide more opportunities for author to be "serialized" there before moving to a weekly schedule or something.

It feels weird that there is going to be a spin-off. As much as there was so much that was left uncovered in the manga, would a spin-off be able to deliver those things? I can't help but think its going to be more gag and less plot. I'm not even sure Tamura would do anything demon world related seeing he resisted it so much.

i would guess he does a more gag like version with furuchi in the lead or something like this. action/fantasy was never his strong point.

Wow,I really got near to WT selling, with a difference of 4k.
I assume that with these selling it won't be dropped, and it's been selling arretrates, too,so I think it will get a reprint and in next volume selling will be bigger

I like that Illegal Rare Axl has started to have a fandom forming at least, they really capture the best parts of the character and art. Sometimes number of fanart does serve as an indicator for series (exclude kiruko san)...so, as predicted, Illegal Rare is on a swift path to irrelevance.
Illegal Rare is followed by all of us big NuraMago fans and that artwork was done by one of them. Even with declining sales, NuraMago was one of WSJ's best selling series so it comes to no surprise that Hiroshi would have a little easier start than others.

However, it is not the NuraMago fans that have to be satisfied but the general audience and we won't have an indicator on how well that goes until first ToC ranking and the sales of the first Tankobon. Anything else can be voices of a vocal minority.

I might be the only one thinking this but I think that by WSJ standards these are mediocre sales for World Trigger considering it's on its 4th volumes already. If the series continues getting an increase of around 15,000 copies in sales for its first week when volumes get out then it might only reach 100,000 around volume 7~8 which by WSJ standards is painfully low especially considering this is a Sci-Fi / action series.

It seems to be on a similar track to Beelzebub or Medaka Box. As long as it continues to maintain decent rankings, World Trigger could have a solid run. It does not seem on track to become part of Jump's upper echelon.

I was thinking that too, the series will probably never pass the bar of the 200,000 thousand copies sold in first week. And well considering the other series in Jump ToC there is no way for it to suddenly become that big. It would have done so otherwise.

On another note I'm actually quite surprised by the sales Magico had. Back then the series had a lot of color pages in the first 40 chapters which showed it was popular but the first week sales for the volumes I found on the MH were these :

Magico #1 32,023
Magico #2 21,622
Magico #3 23,857

Volume 4 having roughly the same number and well it's actually a lot less than WT 3~4 first week sales. Intriguing. It looks like WT success resides within a long run and the ability of the author to actually make a really interesting story, contrary to most other series that start with a really interesting concept but end up burning out too fast :nerd

Maybe the same will happen to "Illegal Rare" (though I'll probably drop the series after c03 if it's as boring as c02).

I feel the same way too. I like the series but it is missing that intensity in its looks and approach.
I mean, look at Soma. Soma seems just way more intense and intriguing than WT does, even though its a manga about cooking.
Although, I will admit that I love the unique futuristic style it has in its covers.
