Eh, the cover illustration for Mononofu looks a bit uninspired. I think Samon-Kun wa Summoner will be better. I feel it might start out as a comedy then become a battle manga later on down the line. Hopefully it does well in the ranking because SUPERNATURAL MANGA ARE GREAT! Sad that Naoki Iwamoto isn't making his return as of yet. Hope he does do another manga. Magico was great.

Devily Man was sub par at best in terms of both art and story. It was trying to be Neuro and failed. At least Samon-Kun wa Summoner looks to have decent art.

Btw, does anyone have a link to that crime/cop one-shot by the author of mitsukubi condor that ran in Jump NEXT?

Neuro is far from great in terms of story and art, too. I think it only survived because of the trend of "dark" series that the success of Death Note started.

Nuero was fantastic and nothing like Death Note...Nuero at least had a consistently entertaining story. And no one in Jump can top Matsui's knack for horror art.

Monster + Human + Investigation + "Dark" themes. I'm not saying they are identical, but DN was certainly fundamental to the demand for alternative "dark" series like Neuro and Muhyo and Roji in the WSJ. That's why I think that if Devilyman had come out at that time, he might have had a chance.
