I'm surprised that nobody has talked about Mononofu yet. The first chapter was cool, I liked it even more than Best Blue. The MC's background and "ability" are interesting. And it's good to see that the author didn't forget to include a good amount of sharkbaitness, because, I mean, we all know that one of the main conditions for a sports manga to be successful in WSJ is to have a decent amount of male characters who are 3 or higher on the Kinsey scale (at least in the minds of fujoshis and fudanshis).

they don't flat out say it, but the reason mononofu mc is clueless, slow & can only focus on one task is because he is autistic right?

The end product is in direct correlation with his work ethic in this case though, inextricable if we look back to the beginning of his scribble art.. Don't start arguments, if you aren't ready to go through with them?

Going back to your first post, how would you know that he's sick of drawing it? Be careful with those allegations/slander, especially considering how it was him that has gone back from the year long hiatus to draw a dozen chapters beginning a whole new massive arc. See, again you miss stuff because you have no insight into the actual manga.
I do know about the new arc, the Dark Continent was it?
Look, HxH could a masterpiece fallen from the heavens but the way Togashi has approached it in the recent years doesn't make the critically acclaimed writing of the series justice. The scribbles are fine as long as he fixes it in the volume releases (which he does).

But let's look at the hiatuses chart:

http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140904151609/hunterxhunter/images/c/c7/Hiatus_Chart.png

Since 2004 he has missed 70% of the issues. 70%. That's not something you do if you're invested in what you doing. Yes, there is the whole thing with his back problems, but recently there was a post on reddit about a color page he did las month, so it's not like he can't draw at all.

And you could say that he isn't the slave of the readers, but they have bought his product for years, so I think he has a reponsability with them, to a certain degree atleast.

Going back on what you said about him teasing the new arc. What's the point on doing so if he has not come back yet? What about the readership that buys the volumes in Japan? Is it fair to tease them and then disappear for God knows how long?

Look at the mangaka of World Trigger. He has neck problems and yet he works on a weekly basis (with some hiatuses here an there, but at least he is providing content).

As I said, he could be a great storyteller and I'm not doubting he is but as a mangaka of a weekly magazine he's just not that great. What happens is that as long as he brings money Shueisha will keep him in.

Oh, that's a very interesting. Now that you mention it, it does kind of make a lot of sense. Maybe the author will bring it up later on down the line if he decides to expand upon that topic. I liked Mononofu. My only difficulty with the manga was keeping up with which piece was which. I hope Samon-Kun ga Summoner is good.

I think there's a big problem when people try to moralize his work ethic. Sure it can be annoying and turnoff to anyone who reads HxH or is considering reading HxH, but that doesn't mean there's something fundamentally wrong with it. Shueisha clearly doesn't care enough to fire him or impose their standards on him, so why should anyone else? Be happy with what you receive, or maybe care a little less if you don't even consume what he produces? But hey, maybe I'm the crazy one.

I think some people have a lack of appreciation for the idea of being an artist and working a job which requires they follow hard deadlines. These types of things don't really mesh well usually, so the idea that someone like Akimoto can consistently work on a series for nearly 40 years is pretty remarkable. He's clearly an exception. Every other author sacrifices a lot in the way of their physical and mental health in order to be serialized and successful.

That was my thought too while reading it... we can't be sure about that, but it would be great if the author somehow confirmed it.

Comparing Togashi to WTs mangaka... you do realize the difference? What about Nana's Yazawa Ai or D.Grey Man's Hoshino Katsura? Let's force those too, they have the responsibility right!?

Your disregard for those peoples health is rather infuriating.

Guys we could be discussing more important thing tight know. Like how the new Death Note move need more L x Light focus in it. I thing a romantics thriller would make the move total hit.

About Nana, rumour has it that Yazawa is still playing the sick card as she doesn't know how to continue Nana plotwise.

Anyways, in my opiniion it is kind of presumptuous to pass judgmenent on someone's work habits. We are all not professional mangakas so we should just keep our mouths shut.

Kubo's comment feels a bit ominous, Bleach may be ending sooner than expected......
What's ominous? Everyone knows Bleach will maximum within a year. He knows it, WSJ knows it & the readers know it.
I think his joke was that his teeth are so bad that it would take a lot more than a normal dental appointment to fix. Nothing ominous about it. Just Kubo talking about his teeth again.

A year ago, Bleach also will maximum within a year... Even two years ago... Some people say that are rushed, but with six or more chapters battles, it seems the opposite.

Maybe the reason Kubo will keep doing Bleach for 3 more years is so he will have an excuse not to go to the dentist. I don't know when will the current battle end yet I don't think we have a lot of battles until the final one, like a max of 6 battles so it is possible to end it up to chapter 700 just to be like Naruto.

That's the final arc and the final boss is at the top of the tower. Once he's beaten the manga has found it's end.

I thought it would take around four years when Tite announced it in '12 and it seems to work out.

Yes, I just say that no one expected it's delayed so much until now and, well, yet remains. Even the final stretch may take over a year elongated battles and doing whatever with the many characters.

Not sure what you are talking about, Kubo made it always clear that this might be the longest arc and therefore take multiple years. "No one" is who exactly? The haters, the complainers, members of the Bleach subforumm, what's the sample size? :P (I hate generalizations :))

Your disregard for those peoples health is rather infuriating.
Nana's author had a serious illness where she was in bed for like 9 months. Hoshino too had neck, wrist and virus problems, but she did came back and even now D.Gray-man is publishing again, at a slow pace, but she's willing to work on it. You do realize the difference?

Togashi has been going on hiatus and coming back whenever he wants for more than ten years now, so its not like he can't draw at all. As I say, there was a post on Reddit of a color page he did last mont. If he can't keep up with the weekly releases, why not release it monthly on Ultra Jump or every fifteen days in Young Jump, just like they did with Gantz? Why wouldn't Shueisha allow this? The volumes would still sell the same (or almost the same), and a few volumes a year is better than no volumes at all.

Because he doesn't want to, and Shueisha clearly isn't going to force the move upon him.
