I've read the last 20 chapters of Kimetsu no Yaiba last weekend, and enjoyed the... how is the arc called? The Sleep demon arc? What ever its name may be, I've enjoyed it a lot.
But I also see that KnY is the second manga of the mangaka, because I can still see certain flaws, which I normally dont see. For example(dont worry, no real spoilers) how Rengoku got praised several times, but without showing how good he was. I mean, we got to see it later, but the manga still told us more about this, then actually showing it.
But I really enjoy KnY protagonist. Dude is so kind, he doesnt want to die, bc he dont want the guy who stabbed him, becoming a murderer.
I dont know, are such protagonists really not popular with mainstream audience, or is it more difficult to write such a characters, and keeping them interesting?
I know, people complain about comic heroes like Superman and Captain America because they're too 'boring'/too good, but having a nice guy as a protagonist is actually a good thing in my eyes(of course, it depends what story is told). I guess, people prefer characters, with whom people can identify, like with Naruto. Which is understandable, but I still really enjoy KnY protagonist a lot(ironically, I've forgot his name, right now).
