So, can we say that this was a complete failure in a way? At least for Jump+, the manga did OK, but the anime failed big time to really boost the manga sales or generate any kind of interest. I really liked this mangaka's designs for the first season of Psycho Pass, they were great and memorable. I've never touched Hitman Reborn and I doubt she'll return to do that. She does have a lot of potential as a mangaka, I can see her coming up with a new hit if she gives up on the full color thing, maybe that was what stalled eldlive's growth.

Edit: Or am I misunderstanding and it isn't ending yet? I really think she should try out something else.
Edit2: So, the manga will take a break, come back to finish off in February?

Is it true that the Tite Kubo one shot is a One Piece one shot? I saw Fornever’s new vid and he said most of these new One shots from the old authors are One Piece celebrations. Not saying he’s wrong, just never seen anything about that in here

Ew, please don't bring up those uninformed fools and don't believe any of the crap they say either. If he hasn't posted a legit source, then don't even bother.

He's almost always wrong.

We already have 2 of the "veteran" one shots released and none have anything to do with One Piece...

Wasn’t trying to bring him up. Just wanted to confirm if this was true or not

Yeah. Knew that part was wrong. But was mainly wondering about Tite Kubo

There was a thing where a bunch of authors literally no one cares about (only one I even remember is the guy who did Best Blue) did One Piece tributes, he presumably got those mixed up with the big oneshots.

He didn't mix up anything, he's desperate for views so he can make some money and he couldn't give two shits if he misinforms people. Must be getting reall desperate or something.

They said this https://natalie.mu/comic/news/262639 was their source. But they listened to a mistranslation based on an assumption. Fornever made a video about it because he was misinformed and doesn't know how to check if his sources are legit or not, that's how misinformation spreads.
Regardless, it's false.

Instead of talking about fake news youtubers it too early to start that "Best/Worst of Jump 2017" topic someone did earlier in the year? Following this thread for a year I have a couple of good candidates.

the only reason they kept this obvious flop for so long is because the author previous work was pretty popular

anyway, Fire Punch ended today too

Also happy new year from China, hopefully we get another couple big WSJ series this year too.
WNL, Stone and RxL can't break 100k while on oricon after 3 volumes

so I would personally say we didn't have any "big" success this year,

A new Shaman King manga is going to be serialised in Shonen Magazine Edge in Spring 2018.
http://comic-sp.kodansha.co.jp/skg20th
he already have 2 ongoing manga, Nekogahara in the same magazine and Dash Yonkoro reboot in CoroCoro Aniki

wondering how will this work out

I wonder why Hiroyuki didn't do it with Shueisha. Is it because of Nekogahara?
Haven't really been following this. Last thing I remember is that he turned down an anime adaptation because they couldn't have the same voice actors and OST or something. Other than I haven't thought about Shaman King in years.

Well we got 11 new series this year, same as 2016. Ranking best to worst:
Shudan
Hungry Marie (Reading raws now and it's freaking hilarious)
Dr Stone (Couldn't have had a worse start, but it's decent-ish now)
Golem Hearts
We Never Learn
RxL
Lycopene
Poro
Cross Account
Full Drive
U19

Pretty good year for new series as Lycopene is the cutoff for what I'd consider good. 2016 had 4 acceptable series for me personally, so a much better turnout

It feels like people mostly praise and talk about the HQ anime than the manga. I tried to look at a few chapters, but the manga's art was very off putting.
Is HQ a case where the anime looks better than the manga?
I think the manga is better. In the anime, the matches seem to have slowed down.

But, yes, when people talk about Haikyuu, most of them are thinking about the adaptation. Same with FMA.

My favorite from this year is Dr. Stone, I actually really enjoyed it since the start. I don't really care for the rest. I read about 10 chapters of Robo and just put it on-hold, it was OK, I've been hearing interesting things about the direction it went in, I'll get back to it sometime. Bokuben is not my thing. I talked about the other things about a week ago, but they don't really matter any longer since they're axed. Can't comment on Lycopene since I haven't read it.

Not the best year for the magazine, but also definitely not the worst either, it's always a coin flip with WSJ. But at least 3 manga did manage to survive and they have decent stability and growth potential for now, but they're all from experienced authors. No new talent managed to break into the magazine which is a minus.

I definitely vastly preferred 2016's output with Yuuna, Kimetsu and Neverland.
