To be fair Food War wasn't added until chapter 93, (Nov , 2014), and the first volume was released on August, 2014. So Volume 1-11 gained attraction from the upcoming anime at the time (April, 2015).

By chapter 93, there are less nudity. The series as a whole don't have "nudity" unless somebody eats food.

If anyone care about New York best seller, ecchi/harem or ecchi/action usually on the list (especially title from Seven Seas). One day, Viz might change their mind. Until then, I don't see Yuragi get a released in the US.

Speaking of Yuragi, chapter 46 is really good. Million seller when? :derp
It was decided they would released the volumes in print and digitally some months before that, but they said that they wouldn't add it to ESJ because the series was "a little racy" . They took their words back a few months later and I joke about it even now. XD
Now the series is much more "cold", if you know what I mean. XD

Yuragi-sou, on the other hand, is not racy, it is piping hot and I don't see this becoming "cold" or even "lukewarm" anytime time soon. XD

NY Times Best Seller is dominated by Onepunch-man, Tokyo Ghoul and Shingeki no Kyouji. The only ecchi there is Monster Musume that blemishes the ranking with its presence every now and then.

We got the Saiki anime legally subbed, that's already better than anything Kochikame in the west.
? What are you talking about, Kochikame got 297 episodes dubbed in Spanish and from those 180, currently, Subbed in Portuguese. And all of those episodes, both the Spanish and the Portuguese, aired on Open TV!

Did it? I didn't see anything about overseas broadcast at all on the sites I checked (I guess they're all very English-focused though).

WSJ uploaded videos to their youtube channel to promote Jump Plus, it shows off some of the mangakas on there (you can see their faces)

you can see Kyousuke Usuta (Pyuu to Fuku! Jaguar) and Katsutoshi Murase (Karadasgashi)

Murase is still into mma even after his mma manga flopped twice?

Right I mean there's no point in re-visioning history, Re:Zero wasn't well liked in the beginning but reception changed as it went on. The first episode was needed to established the mechanics of the world and establish Subaru's character but it was really tedious as hell and brought more people off it than into it especially in regards to Subaru's character seriously every complaint I saw in regards to the first episode was about him.

Really? Toei's adaptation of World Trigger is infamously known for being slow. That's why I laugh at people who call MHA's pacing too slow. The adaptation of WT actually got people off from checking out the manga because Toei made it so boring and ugly which is something you cannot say about BONES adaptation of MHA.
Sorry for beating the dead horse but I finally figured out what I really wanted to say about the MHA anime. Basically, like we saw in Re:Zero, it took time for it to become as popular as it was. And that's because Re:Zero had the luxury of having more episodes. I believe that if MHA had been delayed to this year, it would've gotten a better timeslot with more episodes. And with more episodes, it could build more momentum for the series like Re:Zero did.

That's what bothered me so much about MHA's anime. It's lack of episodes inhibited it from expanding the fanbase and momentum.

Actually, in Spain they dubbed and aired 303 of 367, except episodes 108, 178 and 191 (they didn't aired those, don't know why). Also they dubbed 4 OVAS.

Just because we have CR and other companies nowadays, not because its relevant. They pretty much sub everything...

My Hero Academia aired in Nichigo Slot, a highly popular, almost Primetime Block, that majority of times airs series with 2 cours(22-26 episodes). The block now ended.
Also note that My Hero Academia was one of the worse, if not the worse, TV rated series in the Block!

About more number of episodes. Not only the block normally does 2 season series, as well as My Hero Academia manga at the time had already chapters enough for such an adaptation.
There is really no excuse about the time of release, for why it only had 13 episodes. Nor there is a Timeslot why it didn't exploded in popularity. Haikyuu!!, Seven Deadly Sins, Magi, Kuroko no Basket, Blue Exorcist, Full Metal Alchemist. All this series exploded in popularity in this exact block! And all of them had 2 cours or more.

Indeed there's no good excuse for 1 cour season... Even so with 2 within a year they would have what, only 2 seasons in 3 years before catching up with the manga?

Comparing with other JUMP manga adapted:

Kuroko no Basket 4 seasons
Haikyuu 3 seasons
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu 3 seasons

My point is... Even with 1 cour each season... Isn't better to promote the series with more "seasons"? That way people can always watch the anime (every year?) instead of having to wait a lot of time to have all material adapted. (like happens with Hajime no Ippo for instance)

It's obvious that only 12 episodes is not enough for new people to enjoy the series. It would be the same with Naruto, One Piece, Hunter x Hunter or any big shounen if they would be adapted with 1 cour season at their time.

MHA is fine. It will grow much more in the next years.

It would be nice however (leonat? XD) for someone to make a graph comparing the manga sales of these series after their respective anime seasons. That way we can compare proportionally the increase in sales after every season (1 cour or not)

In MHA's defense, the series that preceeded it, Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans was the single biggest ratings sink the block had seen since it's inception and is likely the reason why the block is being axed in favor of one for early Saturday mornings. Those low ratings helped to cut into MHA's prospects and while the ratings did gradually climb up a bit, one of the episodes got-preempted by a sports special or something like that, and pretty much buried any potential momentum it might have had. That said, it does support the sentiment that the anime was mostly a vicitim of bad timing more than anything else (though the slow pacing certainly didn't help much)

Is it justified if I blame the bad timing on Shueisha and the production committee? 'Cause honestly, I can't see what other kinds of excuses they have to justify their terrible decision. It was a rushed release, pure and simple.

Don't get what Shueisha did wrong.

We been over the fact that there are anime that got even faster adaptations, so it's not a big deal that they jumped on it fast.

It was overall a good season the was well received especially here in the US(regardless of what anyone thinks, it has a strong MAL score, and strong reviews by pretty much every major US reviewer like ANN, and IGN, ect)
It has some pacing problems, but how many Battle Shonen get 100% flawless adaptations? It's still on the side of one of the better adaptations of a Battle Shonen.

And while it didn't explode like people expected the manga is still selling exceptionally well. I don't get how people can underplay it being the 7th best selling series of the year, and being in the top 20 franchises that made the most money in the year. Definitely not enormous but it's doing well.

I don't get why people think Shuiesha could have just predicted the future of how things would go. And about it cours. I thought the Prestident of Bones already confirmed that making it 13 episodes was their decision? Plus Bones pretty much only works in 1 Cours or Split Cours these days anyway. We were hoping for 2 Cours, but when it went to Bones we should have expected it would be only 1.

@G_I_A Ansatsu Kyoushitsu has 2 seasons of (22 and 25) episodes and 2 live action movies. Hence they cut corner to adapt the manga ending and it definitely can go toward 3 seasons.

I definitely think they could. Jump's editors has some decision-making power if a manga is going to be adapted. That means it's in their best interest to know as much as they can about the adaptation plans if they want to push the sales of a manga. It's a simple matter of actually asking BONES what the general plans are in the adaptation.

People here forget everything they know about Jump when it comes to My Hero Academia.
Heh. As a fanboy, I am fully and completely guilty as charged on this. But be honest with me, you have a favorite manga that's going to be adapted, of course you want it to be big. It's just that there is an obvious glaring mistake on the part of the production committee.

fixed that sentence for you

it's not even the first they have done this, I have lost count of how many times people here discussed that thing, this thread have been discussing it since before it was even announced

the same people saying the same stuff they have already said

"bla bla bla gonna be huge bla bla bla sales aren't that great bla bla bla shueisha's fault bla bla bla but I liked it bla bla bla it was fine bla bla bla bones adapted the weakest part bla bla bla it could be big in the second season bla bla bla not it won't bla bla bla..."

this time it lasted longer than usual, it have been 3 days ffs

I can't wait for the toc to drop in a couple of hours to change the subject, but I'm sure the will go back to discussing it like well oiled machines after that

Of course, but Bones typically only works in 1 Cours.
I'm not going to act like I know exactly how everything works, but I'd imagine as far as the anime is concerned, the studio has final say on how everything goes. Different countries, but typically when Hollywood is adapting a book, the publisher doesn't have much involvement unless the studio wants their involvement .

Actually when it comes to anime it's production committees who have the biggest say in what happens. The studios generally just follow suit (the exceptions being if something is either an anime original project or animated by a big studio like Sunrise or Toei who have enough clout to be on the commitee for their work-for-hire projects), so if Shueisha or whoever else on the committee said they wanted 24-26 episodes instead, BONES would have complied. So yeah the fault's on them, not BONES. Regardless it probably is time to move on from the topic
