Poro mangaka can't handle this lifestyle.

That feeling when the magazine was serializing 4 (and now 3) of the worst selling series in over a decade at once... It really does show the condition the magazine is in.

Read RxL. Your usual spokon first chapter. It's actually pretty interesting considering it's golf. Had some comedy, but I would have preferred more as his Archer One-Shot was hilarious and showed Fujimaki can pull it off well. The laserbeam comes from the fact that his Shots are straight like laserbeams. I think it's good enough to survive, nothing amazing so far. They just need to get rid of MC's annoying friend (which is the case in most series tbh).

New series ranking:
Stone
Marie
RxL=Poro
Bokuben
U19

The beginning of the new Dr.Stone chapter has "The Extremely Popular Scifi Survival Story" written in the front of it.

Is this just a random message from the author, or does the editor already have an idea of how popular it is?
like someone already pointed out they say that about most new manga, it doesn't mean anything

Amalgam had it too

Well that message wasn't written in front of We Never Learn, Poro, and Hungry Marie on chapter 3. All of them just say something about it being a longer chapter. So that why this one stood out to me
you sure about that?

the toc that say it's absent is fake

a reminder we didn't have digital sales back then
and we don't have numbers for the digital sales now

I'm pretty sure that this won't appear on the tankoubon like the below message =)

It does not matter if it's an editor note or the mangaka's. It's irrelevant to the chapter and the story. There should be exceptions obviously, but at the majority of times, it won't appear.

I'm sure they already know, but they say that about literally every new series.
This is not true. There were no such messages for any of the new series so far.

It's obvious that Dr. Stone is by far the most well received series of this new batch (so far)

Those texts on the first pages of magazine raws are always written by the editors as a way to "hype" up the chapter or whatever. The author has nothing to do with them, and they aren't in volumes. And yeah, most series seem to have the "super popular" or "rave reviews" comments on them. It doesn't mean anything.
Well it wouldn't make sense to have them in the volume. I find them to be pretty true for long series but yeah for newer series not so much. I think KnY had a similar message during it's first 10 or so chapters.

I personally don't really care much for Dr. Stone, but I do agree overall it seems that it's one of the series that'll probably be around a for while. I'm interested in why some think it's the best out of the bunch.

Pretty much because of the hype of such a famous duo (it's not that common in jump's history for famous mangaka to combine in serializations like that). The art is superb, the story is cohese and have a definite objective. It's inteligent and with a different premise. The educative part is really interesting without being tiring.

It's that kind of manga where you can have fun and learn stuff at the same time. Like AssClass was.

I would be surprised if it won't get at least a rank 3 on toc 5 weeks from now.

My weekly report about Dr. Stone and Hungry Marie continues the same, they are boring. Hungry Marie was especially bad, I had to resist the impulse to skip in the middle of the chapter. I'm just doing my report, it is not bait and there is no need to answer anyway. It is just a register for future reference (aka if it get cancelled I can laugh out loud :derp).

I'm not liking Hungry Marie as well... It can be canceled for what I care.

Not that romcom study, ufail and poro are much better. To me they should all be canceled at this point.

While I do respect that the writer had a previous hit, I myself haven't read it but I hear it was pretty good, I don't see the story as cohesive as you said it is. I do agree that the educational parts are interesting discounting how last chapter they put in a part about making alcohol with what you need to make it (I still think that part should've been omitted just on principle that there is still a chance that that the reader would try to make it themselves even with the disclaimer that it's illegal) the part that is really a turn-off to me is that it's supposed to be a survival based series I don't get the em init danger of getting killed by some random animal that is need in a survivor type story, I do have another slightly less significant problem with the series both main characters are city born( I assume by the context of the first chapter) how do they automatically know how to survive out in the wilderness.

If they start telling the readers what they should or not to do with what's explained in manga, the whole industry will fell apart.

I didn't mean it like I ment it as more of a way to prevent Shounen Jump from any negative drawbacks if they so chose to try making it themselves

You realize Japan is different than America right? Stop looking at things from an American perspective on how things would be taken.
You consistently show very little understanding of Shueshia, the manga industry, and Japanese culture in general with your posts.

Pretty much how i feel, it's the most complete work. We will see if it blossoms into a great manga.

Bit late into the discussion but I remember Academia guy's previous series getting an extra colour page saying it was as thanks for the popularity despite it going straight to the bottom and getting cancelled by chapter 16.

Strongest high schooler, handling pack of lions like it's nothing. Refusing to awaken the girl because she was naked, not feeling the survival theme in this manga, but nonetheless this chapter was okay.

Pretty impressive to know that Boichi is Korean. That makes him the first foreigner to have a seris in WSJ, right?

Also surprised on how Kodansha's policy of keeping their mangaka to not be snatch away by their competition (Shuiesha).
