They already announced a new OP and ED for April, so they are going straight into the next cour. I haven't read the manga in about 10 chapters or so, but the manga can't be THAT close to ending, can it? How else would they be able to adapt the final arc?

Arc length is hard to figure out in Gintama since they were all pretty short until Rakuyou but it feels to me like the last arc is about halfway done (or maybe slighty over halfway), the side enemies are done for the most part but we still have all the main stuff to deal with plus probably a few chapters of comedy epilogue stuff (it's Gintama after all).

They could probably start it right away if they went at 2 chapters per episode but it Rakuyou's been going at 4-5 per ep so it'd be weird to have such a sudden drop in pacing.

I think we cannot blame VIZ editors alone for their choices, they do have a poll and ask the readers what are their thoughts about a given series. Japan and US point of view regarding manga are very different and that's why many things make success in one end and not in the other.

They should have had the competence to realize that waiting on series like MHA or Yaiba would be fucking retarded.
Their meaningless gaijin polls don't excuse their own stupidity.

That's part of the problem. Ass Class, Zumou, and Academia were all pre-Jump Start so we don't know how they'd have polled but we know Kimetsu no Yaiba got a good enough reception to be worth keeping around (again, polled similarly to black clover) and they just decided not to bother with it. Plus they've never went back for it despite losing 3 series shortly after it started with only one permanent replacement.

For Samon and Dance Club yeah the different tastes of the western fanbase are likely why they were avoided but the lack of Kimetsu no Yaiba is entirely due to Viz themselves.

Why care for USA jump. No one really read them. They have like 2 mangas and ask money. Batoto have them all and its free.

Uhm. Because one is legal and the other is not?
If Viz gave a shit about Jump and their mangaka then maybe I'd consider subscribing, but alas we still have to deal with "Zolo".

They're the legal way to read stuff, have better image quality than fan scans, and the translations are usually a lot better too.

Also it's, what, 70p per issue if you have a year subscription? Even with less content I'm still happy with what I'm paying for, I'm just annoyed that they missed a good successful series for no real reason and never went back to pick it up again despite losing three big series shortly afterwards.

Also I still hate Batoto for all the page switching and massive watermark garbage they pulled a few years back in their attempts to get exclusive content.

Legal for Manga Editors, but not for the author and the magazine, or am i wrong?

Yeah I'm referring to Viz's jump there. Sorry if it wasn't more clear.

How do you guys know that Black Clover and Kimetsu no Yaiba had the same reaction among American readers?

It's usually around 210 ~ 255 pages per issue, more if that issue contains monthly stuffs.

If you talk about money then it's about 9 cents per issue if you get the promotion code a while back ($4.99 for a whole year).

I remember it from one of their weekly podcasts where they talk about the issues (or at least they're supposed to, some weeks they get pretty distracted), I think the specific reason they said didn't go for it is due to the translator not being quite up to scratch or something.

I don't know why people complain so much about ESJ, it has been great, I only have to skip Black Clover nowadays (and Yugioh and Blue Exorcist when they appear), just the basic. :derp

I'm not saying I hate english jump, I'm pretty happy with the magazine's current lineup now that RWBY's gone (the only thing I don't read is yugioh). I just wish they picked up Kimetsu no Yaiba since there's no reason for them to keep avoiding it.

There's still hope that they'll pick it up whenever it gets an anime announced I suppose, they're even doing Eldlive chapters now (albeit on their free site though that's where it belongs anyway).

Jump avoid mangas that are destined to fail. Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of them.

Well, we can consider it a good reason since if they published it with a bad translation you guys would complain all the same. XD
And let's be honest here, you guys talk as if Kimetsu no Yaiba is the most popular manga on the planet, but it is in reality just average to low popularity... They are not losing that much without it. With the exception of Haikyuu, they have the most popular ones published.
