Is there a reason for the break? After the anime starts airing do they still need Hori?

I don't think that necessarily means it's set up to be short. I mean obviously it won't last like 6 or 7 years. But the author could really drag on that one year. Like, it's crazy to me that part one of One Piece is like 60 volumes, but for the characters in the story only about 6 months had passed since chapter one to the timeskip.
I think that's because Oda has no sense of timing in regards to one piece because to me it should've been closer to at least 2 years in those first 60 volumes, and I agree that the author could drag out the year but there is really only so much you can probably realistically get away with in terms of dragging out a school life manga if it's name isn't MHA

Japan really loved the judge introduction chapter for Shokugeki no Soma, which is good as Anne is a boss.

U19 is the abbreviation for Under 19? :derp

"We Never Learn" continues in a predicament, but I think it will recover with the recent chapters, the series was wandering aimlessly in the beginning, we even discussed if it should be considered romance. I think the readers, who mostly would read for romance, were wondering the same thing, most likely. It improved greatly in the last couple of chapters.

I just skimmed through last weeks chapter of Hinomaru Zumo and from the tone I got from looking at the art I got the impression that it's on it's last legs of it's run time so I'd give it about four more chapters until it's end. Also is it wrong that I think Hungry Marie will be next to go instead of Poro?

It is, but considering it survived this cancel round, it'll probably last another 10-15 and go in the next cancel round. There is feasibly enough left to cover that it could last that long.

Honestly everything is pretty episodic imo. I think it could literally just run as a sitcom type series for several years. I mean I give it like 4ish years at most. But I don't think it'll end in a year or two(if given a full run and it isn't axed) like some ppl think

Ah, shame. I was quite looking forward to MHA this week. I hope Hori is doing okay.

Shudan has begun! I wish Yokota all the best. Straighten Up was such a pleasant surprise. Was sad to see it go, but I'm glad to see him back so soon. Hopefully he can survive with a football manga!

Do you guys think placement is really important for WNL given that it's a romance series? It hasn't ranked incredibly well the past few weeks, but still got a color page. And volume 1 seems to be selling decently(well above other axed series like U19 and Poro at least).

For the first 30 volumes, Oda deliberately drew a lot of attention to the moon phases as a sort of time scale. There was a very clear sense of timing.

Happy for the position of Gintama, Kimetsu and Neverland.

Not sure about this but for now I don't see this is danger at all. In the end, I hope that the manga got time for the serialization.

Ah, another TOC with rankings all over the place. Gintama in first and above One Piece, Souma in third, Spring Weapon back in the bottom. But the best part? All those manga above Black Clover. :teehee
In all serious though, that was chapter 106, which was the chapter where Asta and Yuno showed off their power on stage to the crowd of the star ceremony thing, and the double page spread of "Look how far we've come". If rankings actually reflect the readers' reception, then I can understand the reasoning behind the drop in rank for BC. This whole "look how far we've come thing" was waaay too early in the story to have any impact.

Well, if Nisekoi's early ranks are anything to go by, then there is reason for some worry, as Nisekoi ranked middle for the most part, sometimes venturing into the top 3. Either way though, I think WNL is fine, especially considering it's great first volume reception.

On another note, I've been trying to figure out what Yokota's art reminded me of, and I just figured it out. It kind of reminds me of a kid's anime. Especially with Shudan, I'm getting Inazuma Eleven vibes. Makes me wonder if Yokota is trying to go for a series that has a higher chance of success. Or maybe he's trying to change what he's known for? I sure wouldn't wanna be known as the Masturbation Master guy.
