Dr. Stone isn't anywhere as good as GIA props it up to be but it's been enjoyable and fun lately, the new characters and storyline for the country of science arc have been interesting to follow. Comedy even got better. Choco is right though, author just randomly drops two mains that were garbage. Not sure I've ever seen that before but it was for better so good he took that L before it was too late.

Leoat if you ever pick it back up try reading it with gutter-like expectations, you'll probably enjoy it the 2nd go-around like I did
I never said it's that good, the other ones however are that bad.

Just a friendly reminder: our personal preferences still means jack. Veterans still won nevertheless.

I don't think someone who praises WNL should be calling out anyone for having bad taste :teehee
"We Never Learn" is not a bad romance, it does it job in getting people interested in the girls, which is mostly why people read romcoms. Different genres require different characteristics to be a good quality manga. I already said it here many times, but if you are not understanding, it can't be helped.

LOL what standard? It's still grown a lot from 15k, why are you trying so hard to refute that?

Those "facts" are irrelevant to the discussion of Kimetsu/BC success of battle shonens. You're just trying to include WNL into the discussions and I responded by that I don't care.
The average is 50k by first volume! 40k at minimum! 15k is extremely subpar for a successful series in Jump. With Hinomaru Zumou, Black Clover, that also started slow (and are still slow tbh) people forget how things work in Jump. Canceled series usually sold 50k, I saw many instances. This is the standard. If you need even more explanation, I can upload the graphs here.

"We Never Learn" appears in the scene because it is the next series that will surpass "Kimestu no Yaiba" threshold. That's why I commented about it. If it were any other series I would mention it as well. Dr. Stone, for example, will probably surpass Kimetsu no Yaiba easily as well.

What are you talking about now lmao. Haikyuu!! sold like 30kish from it's first volume iirc and look what numbers it does now. I'm not saying Kimetsu will reach Haikyuu numbers but initial volume sales don't always determine the success of a series in the long run.

The topic at hand was the growth which you questioned me at first and to which I explained. It grew from ~15k at volume 1 to roughly 100k by volume 7 before dropping out of the rankings. That's a good growth and between each volume it's growing quite a bit. It had one of the biggest growths from the newer titles and it's a fact.

Dr. Stone is a fun series ever since Senkuu became the focus and we finally have something that is taking some time to develop (a cure all). I think how he deals with the village of 40 and now the Mentalist will make or break the series.

What's wrong with WNL?

That's gotta hurt...

He is just grumpy because the VETERANS are thriving (well 2/3 of them) while romcoms are (as always) getting more and more irrelevant and dying their miserable deaths.
Well, I think most of us can agree that RxL wouldn't be as successful as it is right now if it wasn't from the Fujomaki. Let's be honest, I enjoy reading Robot, but it's not groundbreaking or anything. His previous work is literally his lifeline.

Kimetsus a neat series but its pretty overrated here tbh. It's too niche to ever sell 500k, at best I see it at 200k
Was about to say this. I like Kimetsu as much as the next guy, but I doubt it will sell over 300k. I'm satisfied with where it's at now saleswise, and I'm glad that it was able to survive despite it having a rough start.

Largely just unremarkable in every way so seeing anyone get up in arms about it is just weird to see.

We've been through this before, being a veteran does not give you leeway to anything so if people like Robot he's doing something right and by that logic where are all those Beezebub fans to support Hungry Marie? Or do even they think its shit?

I mean, if it was largely unremarkable I don't think it would still be alive.

Are you seriously comparing Beelzebub to Kuroko?

Let's be honest, Dr Stone is about as unremarkable as WNL, and both series are performing similarly at least sales-wise. If anything, WNL is probably better imo just because of how many things Stone has completely failed with. Still not a great romcom though, would've preferred for both to flop and be replaced by other series, but that's not gonna happen.

Then why is Black Clover still alive? Quality has never been a indication of a serious staying alive that's why Nisekoi lasted for so long despite being the most unremarkable piece of shit romcom that had a premise that would have ended in one chapter if they didn't stretch it out to oblivion.

Nothing wrong with that. You're saying that people who read Robot are fans of Kuroko yet for some odd reason peolpe who read Beelzebub aren't reading Hungry Marie? So you're saying that fans of an author's previous work will automatically read his second work despite the NUMEROUS of examples of that not being the case?

There is something wrong with comparing the two. Kuroko's popularity vastly overshadow's Beelzebub.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm saying. Fujimaki earned himself a dedicated fan base with KnB. Even if RxL isn't as exciting as KnB (due to the nature of the sport), his fans will still buy the volumes, especially if they don't read the magazine.

I understand that but that doesn't negate the fact that Beelzebub had a sizeable fanbase that supported the series so why didn't they migrate to Hungry Marie?

So why didn't fans of Kenshin support Buso Renkin? Why didn't fans of Shaman King support Jumbor? Who didn't fans of Bobobo support Yankee?

I mean, its not black and white. There are a lot of factors, but the fact that Kuroko had one of the biggest and most dedicated fanbases of recent times plays a big role. And not only that, but Robot is not that different from Kuroko theme and characters wise.

I personally don't think any of the mainstays in Jump currently are bad(or at the very least offensively bad). We've had better line ups, but I think everything is at least enjoyable to some degree

How can a new series be unremarkable with a consecutive first toc position?

When was the last time this happened?
